  • There are many things that trading is, but one thing it isn't, is gambling. This isn't to say that some people treat trading like gambling, but for professionals trading is not about luck or gambling, it's about how you approach the business. This lecture will talk (in-depth) about the importance of a proper mindset and the importance of preparing for what lies ahead. This business won't be easy, but it will be worth it!

I only have one grand in two different brokerage accounts so I can have 6 day trades a week. I saved up enough money to get past the pdt, but I wanted to build a system with edge that fits my personality before fully funding my account. Been at it for 3 years never missing a trading day and being from Hawaii the markets open at 330 so I wake up at 3 have coffee and hit my scans and go through my watch list looking for certain criteria and narrow my focus on 2 to 6 charts depending on market conditions. Once markets close at 10 a.m, I do 30 minutes of going through charts to find potential set up for following day. After that I work the farm for several hours then go for a surf. Or chill with the fam. Evenings designated to trading education then to bed by 8.30 so I can wake up at 3 a.m and do it all over again. Gotta want it, and definitely have to believe in yourself. Anytime someone tells me I can't. I tell them I can and work ten times harder

Overall this is a great video with a lot of useful information. I wanted to point out a small-ish issue in the middle.
You are misreading that stat (40:20). That is talking about wealth, not people. So the person that grows 10 million into a billion would only count as 1% in your stat, and yet if he was born poor he would have likely had a vastly different life. Look up "regression to the mean". The greatest geniuses in the world tend to be smarter than both their parents and their children. Did they work hard? Most likely so, but as a class, the reason they exist is simply because of the way math works. Sort of like if you look at 1000 coin flips you will see 5 heads in a row several times.
I knew a biologist who answered "genetics vs environment" by saying we are 100% environment and 100% genetics. The real benefit is not in getting one answer or the other but rather in tailoring your answer to why you are asking the question. "How can 1 person be in the top 10%?" is a worthwhile question, whereas "How can we fit everybody in the top 10%" is a worthless question and you need to switch to completely different math on how to move the entire population upward to address that issue.
If a financial talk drifts into the realm of politics, then one thing to remember is that the media on both sides is presenting example after example of how the other side is lazy and entitled, which is one of the biggest insults you can make to an American, even if it is true in some ways. We can't vote on getting rid of corruption (90% position) or on allowing Medicare/Medicaid/VA to negotiate on prescription drug prices (also 90% position) because we have to vote against the lazy and entitled people on the other side. Because of this, I think it is helpful to speak very precisely when making the correct point that all of us have something we can do that would move us toward or into the top 10%.

People keep saying that exact thing to me. I started my trading journey in late 2019. I’ve been constantly studying. I love it. My family and friends don’t take me seriously and pretty much tell me I can’t do it because trading is for lucky people, or people on wall st that went to Ivy League schools and I’ll never make significant money. I’m all for proving them wrong!!
