Aside from his underground classic, “The Bald Gorilla Spits Cream at Tomato Eye.” In it he slapped around a lot of older men in the baths and then tea bagged them as they were stunned. Masterful.
@@Pollock1961 you'd probably be more addicted learning about the true story behind this movie. I was extremely obsessed with this movie for years. I started learning about the true story and began digging like a damm reporter. Lol. I actually befriended the guy on which Sean Penn's character is based on. So I know a lot about this case. If you're interested you should buy the book Jailing the Johnston Gang.
Walken is the best. This is such an underrated movie I could have seen it being nominated for best picture and why wasn't Walken nominated for best supporting actor.
Mr.Walken can be one creepy Mo-Fo if he wants to be. His character was one rotten dude. I actually felt bad for Sean Penn in this movie cause you could see his life going bad, to worse, to rock bottom. Powerful film.
Well... Just? Standard? Offcourse I get what you're saying, but just standard doesn't really apply to Walken... He's just .. awesome Even like sleepy hollow, view to a kill.. Or.. the sicilian scene.. Wow!!
I always love Walken's sudden changes in voice. For example; "(Normal voice).. all the other coyotes come along, they circle around.. (Gravelly whisper) they kill that dog.. (Normal voice).. eat it.." Anyway, "At Close Range" is a criminally underrated film & it's one of his best performance. The root of all evil. And even more chilling because that sociopath actually existed..
Mad that this film is a true story well loosely based on Bruce Johnson who was a Gangster in Pennsylvania in the 60s-70s who killed his son and his sons girlfriend along with 3 others and then his son testified against him
Walken def. is AWESOME in his portrayal of Brad Johnston Sr. here. Very scary and psychopathic. I watched this movie years ago, and at the time had some really bad news neighbors. Not too much unlike characters here. Really creeped me out. I knew I was in trouble and needed to get out of there ASAP.
Christopher Walken was a pure sociopath in this movie even when the older brother confronted him for taking out his girlfriend and brother he still tried to be your best friend to most likely lure him to the same fate. Truly terrifying great acting by Walken
This is one nasty cold blooded movie wasn't quite prepared for it when I first watched it that might have something to do with the fact that I didn't know anything about the Pennsylvania crime family led by Bruce Johnston Sr.
@@SinewRendingBruce is out now and not sure why you mentioned Norman not being able to stay out ...... He was sentenced to life. He temporarily broke out in 1999 but that's beside the point.
I need to read up on the real story----I wonder if this issue of Brad denying paternity of Tommy (and Tommy's obvious need to be accepted as his son) was true.
No, that's spicoli's brother Christopher Penn who unfortunately has passed away a few years ago. Sean Penn played Spicoli and he is also in this movie 🎬 🎞.
This movie was really good. So sad to see Chris Penn's character in this scene. He was pretty sure his own stepfather was going to kill him and you can see his eyes watering since his first close up here but he can't do anything about it because since the beginning of the film, he showed restraint and reverence to Brad Sr, even though he knew he wasn't his father. That was just a kid, misguided but a kid, nevertheless. Pretty heartbreaking and ruthless.
@matatosky Chris Penn's character was based on Jimmy Johnston. He was killed by his stepfather Bruce Sr. He was shot twice .....one bullet through his jaw the other tore into his brain. He was still breathing when they buried him and Bruce Sr and the others laughed and joked about it. Pure evil.
You guys keep using the word underrated for films you _think_ no one saw but you? Not every film is gonna win an award? You keep using that word. I don't think that word means what you think it means...
Ah, that’s good quality father and son time right there. Making memories.
💀💀💀💀
this is absolutely one of Christopher Walken's best movies
Yes this movie is awesome but King in New York by Christopher Walken is a tad bit better
Aside from his underground classic, “The Bald Gorilla Spits Cream at Tomato Eye.” In it he slapped around a lot of older men in the baths and then tea bagged them as they were stunned. Masterful.
I was addicted to this movie when it came out
Yes. Same for Sean Penn.

Two brilliant actors here. RIP, Chris Penn. Gone far too soon.
Christopher Walken's acting in this scene is amazing!!
He surely should have been nominated for this role. He owns this movie.
Sean Penn should have been nominated too.
Agreed. He is the best part of it. I doubt I’d have even remembered this film if it wasn’t for him.
This might be the single most underrated movie of all time. It is also my all time favorite.
It is a solid movie. Chalk full of great CW lines.
This might be Walken's best movie he ever did. Because the role is more believable to him as an actor.
The lighting used with this scene is awesome, one of the best scenes
I saw this movie when it was released in the mid-'80s and this is the scene that I remember the most. Just a powerful stuff.
Still a bad ass film after all these years!!
Im still watching it since it came out
Movie aged like a fine wine
Walken and the Penn brothers did it great in this movie. It's creepy that this movie is based a real story
Why he wasn't nominated for best actor is beyond me.
Terrifying character.
Scary scene. Brad Sr. was so coldblooded.
Walken at his best. Thanks for posting.
I never understood this dialog, but he is so sinister in this role. Great performance.
This is a great movie & based on a true story about Bruce Johnson & his son Bruce Jr in the 70s. It's really creepy that most of this really happened
He was a nice guy, but you didn't want him mad at you. - Chester County resident regarding Bruce Johnston Senior
Here after Bill Burr podcast
Bill Burr is a clown 🤡 I've known about this masterpiece since I was a baby 🍼
Walken is the best. This is such an underrated movie I could have seen it being nominated for best picture and why wasn't Walken nominated for best supporting actor.
Timeless and very thought provoking film, what’s more important, protecting family or revealing the truth.

Of all the villains ,Walken played ,this was his best, cause he's playing a father who's evil, his other baddies r just standard.
Well...
Just? Standard?

most definitely he gives any horror movie villain a run for their money
So good, well acted all the way around
I remember when HBO played this all the time in the 80s.
Bill Burr MMP brought me here. Liar!!😂
Cold blooded scene....wow
Hard to believe...this was based on a true story
Really great writing. He uses the coyote story to dehumanize Tommy, so it's easier to kill him.
40 Phil P Bruce was the real name of the father and the son.
He was using the coyote story analogy as a way to describe the grand jury
He also already refused to accept paternity of Tommy, and called him a "bastard". The "liar" reaction is much more heavy in that context.
This movies is tremendous in all facets,
One of my favorite Christopher Walken scenes EVER.
christopher walken was fuckin great in this roll!!!! love him
I caught this movie on HBO when it came out, and this movie affected me till today
Brad Sr was really upset about being over charged for that Quarter Bag

That's what you get having Chris Walken as your father... :D
he's creepy in his film, Christopher Walken.
And damn good at it too. xD
He's always creepy !!
Two things Walken always is Creepy & AWESOME
Killing your own son - even a half son - is the most evil thing you can do as a father.
That black fading to face is so cool.

@AbveTheRealmParanorm Christopher Walken didn't actually kill him. It was just a dramatic performance.
