Thailand is always an adventure! Tropical storms, flooding, ferry boats that make you take your life in your hands and the odd stomach bug that just lay you out. You lads are doing very well!
A tad moist... Rainy season finishes oop north early - mid Oct. As you're finding out, proper monsoon season a la normal in the south. Darn deep sarf near the Malay border they got it real bad.
Shit...I've enjoyed some super sunny cycling in Thailand this year but I think my luck may run out next week when I attempt Penang to Phuket...still...there's always the weed stores. Hope you can make Phuket chaps.
I have been following all episodes, and I have trouble to understand why they are now only 300km from Phuket. The other day they entered BKK and now they are close to Phuket. Something is not adding up. The best part of this trip should be the scenic route from BKK to Phuket.

Don't go to Phuket. Krabi is the place to be! You still have access to the Phang Nga Bay and Phang Nga. Weather is great at this time of the year for Phang Nga.
I've seen some heavy rains in lots of countries but a torrential downpour in Thailand still is there in my mind as a 'wtf was that!' Moment.Catching ferries in SE Asia is a risky game especially in the wet season. Overloading was common and people died. Might be a non-issue now.
