For the ones who do not want that many layers in the end to loop the composition: right click the comp, go to "time" and then enable time remapping. There should appear a keyframe to which you can add the expression "loopOut()" by alt clicking the stopwatch icon. Now your comp should be looped as long as the composition goes on, hope that helps :)
Excellent tutorial and straight to the point. Here's a quick tip for looping any video. Just go "Time > Enable Time Remapping" then hold alt/opt button and click the little watch on the left side of the "Time Remap" to add an expression. Add this " loopOut(type = "cycle", numKeyframes = 0) ". No more thousands of duplicated layers ;)
I had to add reverse opacity keys on the other layer as well because I had a blending mode where you could see the jump. But this was really helpful. I'm a total novice and got it to work with your help. Thanks!
Fantastic. I never thought of using the Shepard Tone formula for video. {Shepard Tones are a maddening audio illusion of a tone rising an octave in a loop so it sounds like it is continually rising.}
This is great and i love your tenor & approach, I just still don't "get WHY it works". Maybe I'm too much of the Capcut generation. I repeat what you do and it works but when I try to do it on my own, I fail. So it's back to this vid, rinse & repeat (not a complaint, just a gracious thank you for walking thru my thick-headed skull)
"fading the end into the beginning" sounds like a simple concept, but there is something about the process that is hard to wrap one's head around. I kept forgetting how to do it too, the first several times.
thanks so much! I was able to easily translate this idea to Final Cut :) it worked better for me when I faded out the opacity of the original/below clip
@@creationeffects He was asking about what you did in 'Aurora 2', since 'Auroa' already has the opacity keyframes precomposed, instead of copying the individual 'Aurora' compositions in 'Auroa 2' to form a sequence, you could just use the expression to loop 'Auroa' for however long you like. For example if you want to loop it for 10 hours, using copy/paste the number of layers will be ridiculous, using expression is just a matter of changing the playback duration and increase the 'Auroa' timeline.
A tutorial on how to loop a moving view between two objects would be nice. It can be something shot from a train or car. My footage is taken on one of those flat escalators in an airport. There are clear start and end points between concrete pillars. I just can't figure out the masking or looping.
could you help me with something as soon as possible, please? I know how to create a loop video, but when I create it with 5 mins for example as a unit, and repeat it with some other program to create 10 hour video, I find A simple pause every 5 mins period, although the matching of the sound and video
It sounds like maybe your last frame is the same as the first frame, so it's playing the same frame twice, creating a quick pause. Trying trimming off the last frame.
No, you can't make it seamless with an expression. He's also only duplicating one layer. After this you can simply use an expression on this seamless clip within a separate composition. I was trying to do this with an expression as well at first, but this is the most efficient way of doing it. Hope that helps.
There's a little icon that looks like a stopwatch, next to each property in the timeline. Clicking the stopwatch will create a keyframe at whatever frame your playhead is at.
There's nothing in the tutorial that would cause long render times - it's just animating the Opacity. My guess is it's something in your clip or the precomp that you're trying to loop.
You don't go back one frame. It's the last frame. It's just every frame is a strip on the timeline. You shouldn't make this mistake cos it's very important for people to understand that
This is a little hard to understand, I think giving a bit more explanation as to WHY and not just WHAT you are doing, would be a big help. (I had to watch this a few times to understand.) Otherwise this was really clear and providing the shortcuts was helpful, thanks!
Thank you!! Spent like 20 minutes looking for something you answered in 20 seconds.

An even simpler way. Right-click on the file, select Interpret Footage and at the very bottom set the required number of loops
Cannot express how many times i have come back to this video, such a concise and simple tutorial. :D
Thank you for this clip, watched it several times till I grasp it all, but now I think it is clear and simple.
Wow... when I played it back, it blew my mind away at just how good and seamless it has actually turned out... thank you so much!!!

FINALLY ... an actual artist
I watched the video three times, and it was on the third viewing that I clearly understood it. Thank you so much for this!
Perfect! Thank you for sharing. I jumped on that subscription button like there was no tomorrow. Those shortcuts are a lifesaver
Of all the videos out there on the topic, yours was the one that made me "get it". Thanks!... you have a new subscriber.
Fantastic. I never thought of using the Shepard Tone formula for video. {Shepard Tones are a maddening audio illusion of a tone rising an octave in a loop so it sounds like it is continually rising.}
Thank u man!
You should explain the LoopOut(); on the comp layer. Thank you, it helped a lot!
thank you!!! My brain was melting trying to figure this out.
bro you're a lifesaver! Ty Ty Ty
you should use time remap for loop the composition... 🙂🙂

As explained in the video, that method is not seamless and only works on footage that is designed to be looped.
Man that worked just perfectly, Thank you
Shalom and howdy morning how how.
Nice time-lapsed aurora light snapshock!
Godlike Tutorial THANK YOU
This was perfect, thanks! Ps. Has anyone told you that you sound exactly like Steve Buscemi? :D
Many times. I don't hear it myself, but it must be true because I get that all the time.
Doing gods work, thank you bossman
thank youuu so much! been struggling with this!
Thanks so much for this. Super helpful.

this video RULES so so so helpful
Even though it was a lot, its exactly what i was looking for with such great brief explanations. Thanks bruv
thanks bro, you helped me loop my smoke animation
awesome, thanks
so easy to follow and yes worked perfect for my project 100% seamless loop -many thanks
Don't know why you would duplicate and sequence layers at the end, when you can simply invoke time remapping, with a loop() expression.
So that you can fade the end into the beginning, with the Opacity keyframes.
Yes, sorry, you're right. You can add a loopOut() expression on a Time Remap and it would be a more elegant solution. I just didn't think of it.
super useful tutorial!!! thank uuu
Perfect! Thanks
HI Thanks !!! Is there a similar thing like the first method you showed but which i can use in premiere pro ?
Thanks Steve Buscemi
It works perfect in after effects thanks!! , But when i watch the loop in quicktime it still gets a glitch. how is this possible?
I love you man, thanks.
amazing, thank you!
It's very helpful. Thank you.
Ty it helped a lot it works seemlessly
wow man, this is awesome & simple
Thankyou so much was really helpful sir!🙂
Whats the best method to extend the looped finished cut Clip?
I was wondering why you didn't use "LoopOurDuration();" expression instead of copy the looped video into multiple layers.
This way is more efficient,
An even simpler way. Right-click on the file, select Interpret Footage and at the very bottom set the required number of loops

Thanks for the tutorial, even though mine is not that seamless but it's acceptable
So fast and to the point. THis is how you make a tutorial.

Could you use a loop expression instead of duping so many layers?

I can't get this to work at all. How the heck are you setting key frames for the opacity? I can only seem to adjust the opacity of the entire clip.
There's a little icon that looks like a stopwatch, next to each property in the timeline. Clicking the stopwatch will create a keyframe at whatever frame your playhead is at.

Am I the only one who had a crazy render time after looping how do I fix that?
There's nothing in the tutorial that would cause long render times - it's just animating the Opacity. My guess is it's something in your clip or the precomp that you're trying to loop.
So your method is not an universal solution cause my 10 secondes video required for my project...now only last 8 secondes!
