I am terrible at video editing i should just stick to the music tbh
But yeah i was super sad that NEO never had an extended theme, like i know there's a totally valid reason for that in-game but even so it would have been super sweet to have a legit battle theme as opposed to the 20 second or so loop we got.
i remade parts of songs from across the soundtrack to use in this so, in order of appearance

Mistakes were made
So that's how you remix a 30 second loop. Throwing in some CORE music in the mix, along with a few other tracks as well too. I like it.
I could hear parts of ASGORE, Bonetrousle, Spider Dance, and even more bits of Battle Against a True Hero than the song originally had, in addition to CORE.

I might just be hearing things, but Big Shot sounds a bit more like this remix than the actual version of Power of NEO. But I think that's just me.

Something I would love with Mettaton would have been to make him attack first, before you with a strong attack. It would have showed how powerful his NEO form is and how powerful YOU are by one shotting him. It would have also make Sans's snap back to reality even more impactful, because the player wouldn't have seen the fact that he can dodge coming that easily, since Mettaton would have also started with a powerful attack before dying in one hit

Yes mettaton fight would’ve been more impactful if he attacked first but sans attacking first wouldn’t have been as impactful then either. His attack going first is a shock that helps to show his fight is different. Mettaton being able to attack first may have made his “fight” more impactful, but at the cost of the climax of the genocide run. This coming from someone who just dislikes sans and who’s favorite character is mettaton, I think for the sake of the narrative sans being the only first attacker works
@@Endyre I read a comment that mettaton NEO should've had some type of shield, and after you attacked it would break, but then change to mettatons turn and be a bullet hell before 1 shotting mettaton. That fixes both the problems, right?
While that would have been cool, the whole point of this route is to disappoint the player which is why it plays out as it does
This would have worked if sans hadn't been everywhere on the internet in 2015-2018, so people would already know how the sans boss fight functions

you know, alphys didn't know a genocidal human would only grow stronger with each kill. mettaton neo would have likely been an actual battle had you be at level 1. he is, however, the last barrier in order to keep a genocide run going. if you, say, kill him but fail to exaust the kill counter in his area, he will taunt you for it. then you are locked into a neutral route. sans might be the final boss of the genocide route, but mettaton is the point where you're either in it or not. you can still abort a genocide run by a reset, up to the point where you kill flowey. but mettaton is the final check to see your killing intent.
Mettaton NEO’s defense is -40000 and his HP is 30000. An attack that would normally do 1 damage would do 40001 damage, which is 10001 more then his health, allowing things such as a froggit or sans to one shot him.
Also if there was a big fight before sans all your good healing items would be used and that would be especially bad to players who didn’t know about sans

The difference is you get new items between undyne and sans for most genocide sans items that are used 4 of them are from hotland/mettaton resort as the noodles face steak and legendary heros even if you used every other item on undyne you still have a full heal a close to full heal and as many half heals as your inventory holds

Many believe that this is merely a 'T' pose but, if one were to look closer, they would know that this is a ploy to fool prey and predators alike. During a time where a NEO Phase Mettaton would be in trouble, it prepares its 'X' pose, and double legs to defend itself. Any attack that may prove fatal is unable to lay siege to the integrity of the Mettaton, and so it is near undefeatable. Very few attackers have lived to tell the tale of a fight with a NEO Phase Mettaton, however the creature is very docile, and borderline pacifist.

Despite being a few years old, I still love this remix. I'm kind of sad that he hasn't had his fight yet, because of course, Toby wanted you to feel infallible until you got to Sans, but meh, thanks, fans!
Toby committed one mistake: He assumed that, at that point, you'd attack in your first turn. Many people check their enemies, and doing that would expose MTT not having any attack. He should have only one attack that looks like hell but it's actually easy, so the player thinks that they dodged it because of good luck. Then they attack and kill him. It'd be more credible.

Jayden There are theories that do a reasonably good job of explaining why mettaton neo didn't have a full fledged boss fight.
Let's get the boring one out of the way.
Budget cut or Toby simply decided against the idea for no reason in particular.
Now the interesting idea.
It's generally believed that Undyne is the "heroine" of the story during the genocide route.
One thing that stands out, undyne the undying is the only monster to not be killed in one hit throughout the entire genocide route.
She was the first thing to actually stop you, albeit temporarily. She was the first and only monster who could survive multiple hits from the player.
Notice how sans, mettaton, and asgore all take 9999+ damage. They had no chance of surviving an attack from the player.
They simply were not anywhere near as strong as undyne.
It's an interesting theory. After you kill undyne, the Underground's fate is sealed. The hero has failed, and no one else had a chance to stand in the player's way.
Mettaton was just to weak to put up any kind of a fight.
Tanks A Lot hm, that is interesting. It's also that unless you spare undyne or something you cannot go to a neutral route.
Also, her theme is Battle of a True Hero or something? God I forget it.

Sans is more difficult than Undyne, but not stronger. And the only reason why is because he messes with the game’s mechanics.
Sans also acknowledges this, and knows he can’t win. The entire point of his battle is to get you to give up.
Overall, yes, Undyne IS the strongest monster in the underground. But she can’t screw with the meta and remember previous timelines. Therefore on subsequent Genocide Routes, you’d have memorized her patterns, and her confidence would be misplaced.

The inclusion of other boss themes were fiting as the unaltere "power of NEO" the was basicly Undynes theme sped ud and slightly altered.
Also it was just the intro on a 10 second loop
Its the same music line as battle against a true hero 100%, except its in a different key, which made the theme even more disappointing, despite still being a great ost.

Undyne the Undying had 99DEF, which is only around 1/3 of Mettaton's base defense.
Mettaton NEO had 9DEF, and at the bare minimum, takes 900,000 damage.
9 × 11 = 99
900,000 ÷ 11 = 81,000.
Undyne the Undying had 23,000HP. That means that she would've gotten attacked with such force to one shot her almost *4 times over.*
And that's only using the minimum.
Even box Mettaton would've gotten shredded like wet paper, let's be real.

After returning to his normal stance, Mettaton NEO closes his eyes and smiles thinly.

With that, Mettaton NEO swings his cannon arm to one side -- and as he does so, a crackling beam of searing-hot plasma extends out and forms from the end of the barrel, melding into the shape of a Longsword. Mettaton NEO glares at the screen as he swings the Energy-Sword twice in front of himself, and then points it at the player with a menacing smirk, the blade sparking with electricity as the remixed _"Power of NEO"_ theme starts up.
_"...when there's still so much time for a first-hand demonstration of what I'M GOING TO DO TO YOU! _*_EN GARDE!_*_ "_
Appreciated. And besides the techniques used there (The *L.E.G.S.* defence system and Energy Sword), I was thinking that not only could he also mix in fast jabbing and swinging kicks with his sword attacks (Especially later on, when his patterns become faster and more complex), but he could also make use of his Arm Cannon and Rocket Wings more effectively.
For those, I was thinking that he could use rapid-fire and charged (IE. Bigger blasts that explode on contact) laser shots to start with, then moving later on to electrical bursts, columns of lightning, and eventually even more powerful lasers that function a lot like slower Gaster Blasters. He'll also start flying and hovering using his Rocket Wings, firing off shots from mid-air and swooping down to use his Energy Sword and diving kicks.
However, despite being able to block and dodge attacks early on, the power drain will eventually begin to take its toll as the player survives his attacks, leading to him having to divert power from his Defences to his Weapons to try and kill them, growing increasingly more powerful and unstable over time but allowing the player to begin attacking him.
Eventually when he does run out of health, he can either be spared or killed. If he's spared, he'll acknowledge that you're not completely evil and shut down with a pained smile, relieved that you're not going to hurt Alphys or the evacuated monsters. Of course, this sends you back to the Neutral Route. If he's attacked again, he'll activate a self-destruct bomb he has rigged in his housing and taunt you about it (_"Look on the bright side, darling. _*_We're both going to go out with a bang!_*_"_) with a venomous grin. He has to be attacked again within five seconds to stop it and kill him properly, or else he'll detonate and kill you with him, causing an instant Game Over.
Thanks for the reception so far, everyone! Turning it into an actual thing (or at least, an animation) could definitely be something worth doing at some point. In the meantime though, I do have a few more taunts, actions, and other lines for when stuff happens in the fight--

[After attacking his L.E.G.S. shield again] Mettaton NEO folds his arms, quietly laughs, and dares you to try again.
[After using his Arm Cannon for the first time] Mettaton NEO blows smoke from the barrel of his Metta Cannon, and points it at you threateningly.
[Arm Cannon] Mettaton NEO wipes the side of his Metta Cannon with one hand, and admires himself in its reflection.
[Energy Sword] Mettaton NEO locks eyes with you as he slowly runs a hand along the side of his Energy Sword. A shower of blue and white sparks is kicked up along the blade.
[After being hit by the Energy Sword] Mettaton NEO licks charred red dust off the edge of his Energy Sword in a sinister fashion. You wonder how on Earth he's doing it without getting burned.
[After being hit by the Energy Sword twice in a row] Mettaton NEO explains that he's a robot, and can therefore lick particles off of hot plasma.
[After being hit by the Energy Sword three times in a row] Also, because he's Mettaton. The standard laws of Physics do not apply if you are Mettaton.

[Flight and Metta Cannon] Mettaton NEO takes aim at you whilst hovering in the air with his rocket wings. His right eye is glowing noticeably brighter.
[Flight and Energy Sword] From mid-air, Mettaton NEO dramatically flips his Energy Sword arm around, leaving crackling blue-white energy trails in his wake.
[After using Bolt Thrower for the first time] Erratic bolts of electricity surge from Mettaton NEO’s eyes and Metta Cannon, and Static Electricity fills the air. He looks you in the eye and grins sadistically.
[Before using the Charged and/or Homing Shots for the first time] Mettaton NEO is storing up energy in his Metta Cannon. An indicator on it shows that he’s up to medium-level charge.
[Before using the AntiMetta Cannon/slower Gaster Blaster-like weapon for the first time] Mettaton NEO is storing up even more energy in his Metta Cannon. The indicator now shows that the weapon is fully-charged, and a strobe appears to be going off behind him.
[Phase 3/Shields dropped, attack power increases] Mettaton NEO is diverting power from his defences to his offence. Now might be a good time to try attacking.
[Phase 3] Mettaton NEO’s neck and shoulders twitch erratically.
[Phase 3] Mettaton NEO is beginning to lose his cool. He’s up to something.
[Phase 3] Mettaton NEO’s face and arms glitch for a moment.
[Phase 3, Health low] Mettaton NEO is furious. He’s getting desperate.
[Phase 3, Health almost empty] Mettaton NEO is enraged…now focused purely on killing you. Just a little more.

Whatever it is, the very thought of what could drive a mere child to such sheer hatred and brutality is nightmarish...even to someone like myself. [Mettaton NEO stands back up slowly with a menacing smirk, and a large part of his chest plate completely bursts off-- revealing a silver tube-shaped explosive device with an LED timer attached to it that starts counting down from 15 seconds.]
_“It’s a Self-Destruct Bomb that she rigged up in my chassis just in case something went wrong... …and with it, comes an all-expenses paid trip to the afterlife for you and one friend! Hee hee hee…! …so I guess this is it for us, Darling. Look on the bright side, though. _*_WE’RE BOTH GOING TO GO OUT WITH A BANG!_*_”_
[At this point, the player has only ten seconds to act accordingly. The four main buttons return, but each one only does a different thing. ♥ FIGHT is the only way to finish properly at this point. If the player fails to hit Mettaton NEO with another attack before time runs out, his self-destruct bomb will detonate and kill you both, causing an instant GAME OVER.]

[The bomb beeps even more rapidly as he speaks, and as he finishes and throws the salute, the bomb detonates, atomising and killing both him and the Player instantly. The now-completely white screen slowly fades to black with the sound of the explosion, along with the faint sounds of monster dust dissipating, and the Player’s SOUL bursting, before changing to the GAME OVER screen.]

[If the attack goes outside the bar, it MISSES and doesn’t count. If it hits however, Mettaton NEO’s chest is ripped open and the timer of the Bomb stops as he falls back onto one knee, with an expression of disbelief.] _“No…NO!”_

Sparks, smoke and small flames are seen pouring out of the various wounds as the crumpled, lifeless body shell lies twitching from the loose electrical currents. The fight ends, and now the player is now firmly locked onto the Genocide Route.]

The reason why I love this remix among other Power of Neo remixes is that it puts in its own leitmotifs instead of just being a remixed version of Battle Against a True Hero.

There's no doubt Toby took major inspiration from this remix to make BIG SHOT, even more evident when you listen the part with all of the leitmotifs, the Power of Neo bits in the background are so damn similar to the ones in BIG SHOT.
Who also knows that in Japanese version "BIG SHOT" is called "Power of [[BIG]]"?
Mettaton NEO's theme is called "Power of NEO", so that's a good reference
