You always hear stories of 2Pac taking up all the studio time, and other artists like Lady of Rage not getting studio time to work on her album. Why didn't Deathrow have one or two more extra studios after all the money made? This would have surely reduced some of the internal tensions. Love the Podcast Reggie & John. Keep up the good work
Great content Bomb 1st family
Bench warmers getting 25M a year is crazy 😂
people always act like pac was the only platinum artist back then, its just like reg said the fugees had a banger i think they went diamond if i recall. there was alot of groups over platinum back then. pac really didnt turn into the goat until years after his death, most people just saw him as part of the bunch but his music outlived everyone else because he made so much of it that he has more hits even unreleased hits
PAC's music lives because of the quality of lyrical content
he had two number one albums that year (same year that the fugees dropped their album) one being a double album… he definitely stood out that year. not to mention dropping hit em up summer of that year (96)… made him even bigger
he was the biggest rapper in america at the time of his death, so it wasn’t like he was some d list rapper that only got recognized for his greatness after death… he died with 6 million records sold so obviously he was the hype
@@bossplayavon im not going to deny all eyez on me blew up huge, but bro he wasnt on death row for even a year. i have actual mini vhs tapes being 15 yrs old with all my friends smoking weed and you can hear all eyez on me on rotation in the background but its not the only thing people played. it was a banger of a cd everyone had but its not the only cd people played back in the day. so i totally understand he was big and famous, out of jail platinum album and then death. but people fail to recall them big ass cd cases we had that almost made us wreck while driving. that was a thing. having a entire cd case of other peoples music besides pac who were just as popular. and death row fell off quick and no limit took over then cash money. wu tang had their double album so did bone.

The sad fact was Tupac was not good at the business side of the industry he was in and it seemed like he finally was putting things together with trying to start his own record company or production company with the euthanasia company he had recently started but he didn’t live to see what his next move was going to be!
Tupac already had his own record company- Out Da Gutta Records, with Interscope. He released Thug Life, Me Against The World on his label... and he directed music videos as well as acted in movies. Tupac was supporting his entire family plus a bunch of extended family and friends as well. The more you know.
It’s sad with 2pac he was so talented and loyal but most of everyone around him friends and family weren’t loyal or took advantage of his kind heart they took his kindness for a weakness. Years after his death he still has family members selling stuff he owned that they inherited to put money in their pocket
He was good at business he simply had issues and trouble clearly but he was making moves to get all in order …I think that’s Great business moves and also he’s loyal af and u know how loyalty works
@@reign3902if I said Tupac couldn’t play cricket you stans would say he was the best cricket player ever
Pac couldn't start his own company, he owed death row millions, Interscope was done with them and refused to give affeni a loan to bond him out, Jimmy lovine told Suge great you take him!
The Magic Johnson comment was valid from Reggie!
Suge sounds like he was paying the bulk of the expenses but spreading the wealth as much as possible. If Tupac were alive today the bulk of his income would come from touring, sneakers, a clothing line and acting . Probably not royalties from record sales. Just like Kanye West....
lol. Pac would not have a clothing line, sneakers, etc. . Who would invest millions in the name of a convicted offender? lol. You all are delusional

Great history on music and sports Reggie. People getting paid from years ago is much different.
This is a great interview. Reggie is bringing the truth. I remember this gangster back in the day. He didn't play.
Man Pac and those guys got did dirty, that paperwork is important

Hi, I've always wondered why with the millions Deathrow Records was making, they only had 2 recording studios for all their artists to fight over? You always hear stories of 2Pac taking up all the studio time, and other artists like Lady of Rage not getting studio time to work on her album. Why didn't Deathrow have one or two more extra studios after all the money made? This would have surely reduced some of the internal tensions. Plus, was anybody else apart from 2Pac able to make a hit from the wack room? and let us know the song/artist.
Ese from London.
They had no fights over studio time, they didn't have enough producers, Dre wasn't working, They had way more artists than producers
To say the Fugees was big as Pac is Straight Cap…besides Killing me Softly that album was trash. I remember they put out that goofy as cowboy song as a follow up
bone thugs sold 30 million records and they were broke lol bizzy was homeless at one point
Tupac was solid at least he wasn't on no funny stuff like puff
Didn't he take a pic in a tub. With jewelry on..... ayo pause
@@jcc3333and it was hard af. Was recreated by few artists after pac demise
Reggie what was Dre's position at Deathrow was he a Co owner or just head producer?
Back in them days the average rap artist got paid between 5 to 25 cents per cd that was being sold from $15 to $20
"Tryna make a dollar outta 15 cents"
Reggie just said they're getting $1 per album. Things were different back then.
@@LoveIsAllWeneed666 everybody didn't get $1 per album. Do your reservations if you don't believe me.
I'm glad Reg spoke about credit, because most people tend to forget about that

Way to clear shit up Reg. In the 90s there was always a huge misconception where it was made to seem as if Deathrow financially took advantage of Pac. Suge was really taking care of his artist & helping them live prosperous. All Suge needed was a little bit more discipline, tone down the gang activity😎, leave Dre’s women alone.
It’s dope Right way was earning 6 figures a year in 95 96. Why did you stop running the security firm, seems like in LA that business is the gift the keeps on giving.
Tupac was human at the end of every day
Basically Pac hadn't recouped
that's it i don't think Suge stole from him but he just didn't live longer to get paid his royalties
@mexia23 that might be right. I heard it take a minute to get your money. Pac just did not live long enough
“REGGIE AINT EVER LIE”
#"KEYBOARD GANGSTAZ" LOL REGG U COLD 4 THAT ONE
I don’t care what anyone thinks or say Suge love PAC frfr Brothers….
"ADVANCE"! THAT SAYS IT ALL.
Mann deathrow was making serious $$ back then
Hey Big Reg. Is it true that you and Big Suge ran a train on Aretha Franklin back in ‘95?
Lol. Huh
Reggie. Did you keep a journal from back then ? Or is everything just coming from memory ?
Well stated

man these video directors were robbing the artist ... they never have money problems you hear about!!!

People got to remember, when Pac died that's when he started selling mega mega records, even the records that was made after he died was selling mega million records, not saying Pac wasn't selling when he was alive, but after he died he outsold what he did when he was alive.
Dude what county you grow up in? All eyes on me sold 10.6 million records and he was alive you tgoppi
Reggie is 100% right. I’m a realestate guy (not in Cali) but in Cali they can take your house when you have judgements against you. If I’m not mistaken he bought afeni a house in Georgia. That would be a place judgements wouldn’t be as much of a problem. This is why OJ moved from Cali to Florida.
What's judgements mean in realestate talk I'm from Ireland
Oj put things in his daughters name and he was in Vegas and had to do parole there
The Score my all time
Suge's house in Vegas was NOT in his name!
Reg, do you think DDR would have promoted Danny Boy if he stayed around , Or was his music to sweet n soft for DRR?.
Got to remember that was the 90s a new Mercedes was under 50k but if Death Row was keeping all the concert money thats a different story.
'95 was a great year
all 2pac cars and penthouses and videos with his ideas being taken seriously was paid for . And he still getting a mill a year ?? In 1996? Death row did shady shit but they def took care of 2pac atleast give them that credit
He didn't own anything it was all on loan, everything is in suge's name
It was diff times back then
People Tupac was only 25 years old
And this guy talk about him like it was yesterday 1996 🆚 2024
8:08 the Fugees was bigger. Way bigger!
ALOTTA people were bigger back then....that's what we keep trying to tell the Stan's and Bots in the comment section...
@@Incredible_Geez yep. If you weren’t around in 96 than you shouldn’t even speak. The stans act like 2Pac came out and moved everyone out of the way, he did not. He sold a lot of records but he still had to jockey for position. Also, him putting out a double album was a cheat code. Had it only been one disc he probably would have topped out at maybe 2.5m at most. Meanwhile the Fugees were blowing him out of the water.
Tell Lauren that. She was broke n Pras had to scam. Where was that money at?
@@tonecorleone7592 they fucked off their money. Lauren didn’t pay her taxes and Pras had bread but got involved with people that he shouldn’t have. Wyclef doesn’t seem to have any financial issues so….🤷🏽♂️Also, 2Pac was caught up in string of legal issues and pretty much died broke. Had he lived and got everything squared away and paid off he wouldn’t have been balling out of control. Suge made him look like a star but behind the scenes his bread was fucked up.
I was living back then and NO they weren’t. Y’all gotta stop this stuff. They may have been on the same level but they were NOT bigger.
That's big facts Reggie
Yeah Reggie you're right. Interscope did pac way worse than what people claim Suge did
A dollar a record 🤔… hella nawl Michael Jackson don’t even get a dollar a record😂.. Reg still being generous like Death Row was with the cash.. Only label you could live like you sold platinum records but never released a album
Michael got 2 dollars record. He had 22% royalty rate. Pac had 18.
@@almightytre3730 you are right should’ve known better Mike was top food chain and he got the highest percentage ever at the time, while the average artist gets cents not dollars
That boy said keyboard gang😅😅😅😅
Pac was bigger than all of them combined 8:53
We done wit da 80's 90's
If Suge #1 drove like Suge #2 we would be having a different conversation
Daz monthly sound low.. producers make the sound should be higher I assume..
Reality is it wasn't what people think I remember what my folks C bo said in the early 2000s he spend over a million but never had a million in the rap game all his 16 album he put out.
The advancement along can make you broke. Because that’s what is it an “advancement “
75k a month back in the day, that’s living comfortable
Y’all gotta think too they didn’t even get a chance to do a tour . That’s why years later the up in smoke tour was so big . It was the one death row didn’t get a chance to do!!!
Looking a lot healthier reg 😊
What's Hannin Reggie Ru 🩸
Death row artists were getting robbed by bully surge knight
Who?
by Who?
People fail to realize Tupac had a lot of cases before going to prison & after he got out of prison, those problems don’t go away, the situation in Marin city that he went through from when the kid got killed, his parents sued him for that and a plenty of other people
Interscope settled that case in late 95. It was believed to have been between $300k - $500k.
They settled cuz it was indeed Pac's gun that fatal bullet came from
plus he still had to go back to court for the sexual assault case which he could of lost and went back to prison
That's two cases. Any more?
@@MrJamesradcliffe the gun charge case, not the one shooting at po-po but the one he got caught with guns while on death row. that is partly why they put security on him so he would stop getting in trouble for having guns. (the other part being hit em up someone said they gave him a vest). theres a court clip of it its very short but really hard to find because all the other court clips pop up. basically pac said better to be caught with it instead of without it. and i think his plea to the judge was he had been shot before. i do believe they judge went light on him if i recall. there may of been one or 2 others. being 43 my memory on this stuff is going downhill so take it as paraphrasing i guess
He didn't have anything going on besides his appeal being revoked, he paid Ayana off ,marin had been settled,
How do Reggie know all this information ?
Why did Frank Alexander say Tupac got paid $5000 every Friday, and he would tell Frank to go pick up the check for him?
@@reggiewright - oh ok, that makes since. Because Tupac did say he was sending money to his family every month to take care of them. So I didn’t see how he could do that with only $5000. Thanks for clearing that up Reggie.
@@reggiewright - reggie, do you happen to know the last time Affini talked to Tupac before he got shot in Vegas?
@@reggiewright - the reason I was asking about Affini is because I have seen three different videos on RUclips of people claiming they drove to Vegas with Tupac early Saturday morning of the day he was shot. obviously, Tupac could not have driven in three different cars to Vegas.
That's why P was a better person than Suge.....he made sure his people had their own. Suge wanted to keep control, not make bosses.
Reggie is right on this the music industry screws the artists, and its still a business. Taxes, lawyer fees, managers staff all got to get paid. Tupac didn't understand the business yet.
Besides California love what music video did he do that cost 300K... Make it make sense 🤷🏾♂️
Reggie where’s the video where you were gonna tap at BJ?
Lol@ when you do the voice of the person arguing with you, this person has to still be at the parents house and never have a job
