- This week we team up with Lucas Allen from King Tide Salt Fly and head to the Bay of Plenty to target hard fighting harbour Kingfish in the shallows before heading to a nearby reef to test out some new Softbaits.

Nice film work of the spotting and hook up. Got one of those Hatch #7 reels myself and it put really the hurt on a 19 pound kingfish on my 7wt outfit ( and a 10 kg leader helped as well...).

Some clever cinematic techniques and interesting variety of kingfish action on the fly. Thumbs up on the Hatch 7 Plus - great reel and awesome drag system. Tested my Hatch out on an eagle ray (ruclips.net/video/2zu4qbGFohs/видео.html) on my 7 weight Method, and discovered that they jump when hooked - if only kingfish did the same! Also did a great job on an 18 pound Kingfish a few weeks later.
