My first watermelon plant gave five great juicy watermelons. It’s was really sweet and just split easily due to its high amount of water. Best watermelon I’ve ever had. It was the larger sized watermelons too. However I did not plant it intentionally. It fell from my hand and the place where I did intentionally planted made a tiny watermelon. I have yet to be able to purposefully grow a decent size watermelon. So after this year if it is unsuccessful again I am just going to throw a bunch of seed wherever and let nature bring me back that sweet watermelon one more time.

Watermelon is in the gourd family which means if it gets enough sun then it will grow really fast. You can grow other plants in the same family like cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, other types of melon, and gourds really quickly too all they need is good soil, a lot of water, and sun.

They are middle man sellers anyway. They pay very little to the actual farmer or wholeseller.
Unless you buy very locally - your amateur gardener neighbour, some kind of small holding - you're always gonna be buying from 2nd, 3rd, 4th middle man seller.

I never knew that one could grow watermelon on a deck. I bought a seedless watermelon and discovered a black seed inside. I planted it a few days ago just to see if it would sprout, and it did. It's late in the year to grow watermelon, but I think I'll give it a shot.

  • @will8154

Hi i think you did an excellent job, but what you might want to do next time is either transplant the watermelon plant in a bigger container or transplanting it in a raised bed because watermelons grow big and viney if you let it have the right amount of space, what you might also want to do for full production and more watermelons is not pruning and letting it grow, this stimulates the plant to grow more vines giving you better and more watermelons 😁

It might well. I haven't grown watermelon in a while but I have grown them and I grew muskmelon this summer. In the ground, they set several melons if you let them. It might have been because he snipped off the ends that would have formed other female flowers, but it could be that without regular feeding the plant could only support one melon to full size and sweetness. It'd be interesting to see, since I've also considered growing melons in pots.

Hi thanks for your video... I bought watermelon this morning & I want to start to plant it on my garden. Btw I have 2 questions...
    1. Is there any different treatment if I plant my watermelon directly on the ground (not in pot)?
    2. I found in another video that the watermelon seeds doesn't need to be dry before plant it, they even use wet cotton before they plant it directly into the pot.. Which method is better? And if dry it first is a better method, how long should I dry the watermelon seed before I plant it?
Thank you for answering me ! 😊😊😊😊😊 you are AWESOME!
