Stadiums in Singapore are built and maintained by the Singapore Sports Council, they're all community sports facilities. The clubs pay to use those stadiums as their home grounds, so that's why you could pretty much walk into any stadium at any time of the day.

Just to point out, the young lions (U23 team) also helps to facilitate players serving National Service (mandatory conscription) to continue training and playing professional football. There are plenty of takes on this (a lot disagree with it), but the motivation is to limit the hinderance of National Service on the progression of young players. Even more for you to be weirded out about :)

On the VAR question which you had towards the end of the video. Due to the small and connected nature of the country, we adopt a “centralised” VAR system where the Video Operation Room is centralised at Jalan Besar Stadium.
So essentially on match days, the VARs report to Jalan Besar Stadium no matter where the match is played. Another interesting fact about our league.

Great job. I think you captured all the idiosyncrasies of the league (A Bruneian team, a Japanese team, and a local U22 side).
Even though Albirex has won the league so many times, it is not allowed to be the Asian Champions League representative, so it will fall to the local side that finished the highest. The league used to have a French team as well (Etoile FC) as well as a Chinese team (Sinchi FC). Tampines Rovers has the honour of having Jermaine Pennant turn out for them before.

    Fun fact.
The most successful SPL team doesnt even exist anymore.
Warriors FC who last played in 2018 has won 8 SPL titles, 5 Singapore Cups and of course they were the first Singaporean representative to play in the Champions League and won their only game against Henan Jianye of China.
Too bad they were mismanaged financially and had to fold up in 2018. They were based in Choa Chu Kang Stadium and Tanjong Pagar replaced them in 2019.

Before the Singapore premier league in 1996, Singapore do not have any pro league. Singapore national team played in a soccer league as a team in the Malaysia soccer league with other Malaysian state teams. And from the 1950s to 1990s, Singaporeans only supported 1 team and the home team plays in the old National Stadium with a capacity of 50K Those were the times when the soccer atmosphere and crowds can be comparable to major European teams when all in Singapore are soccer mad.

Singapore's stadiums/sports complexes double up as community sports facilities. That's why they are open to public. With such a small land mass, we do have to maximise the utility of our sporting infrastructure.
Singapore invited overseas teams in a bid to raise the standard of the league & give local players exposure to foreign styles of play, thus the invitation of Albarex Niigata. Brunei DPMM's invitation was also part of our common history as well in the M-League, as well as our close international relationship.

Think of the potential of the dying shopping centres of the UK. I don't think the slick fancy sports facility vibe of the Singapore one is exactly the vibe for the UK, but what if an abandoned department store was stripped out and turned into some kind of slightly grungier version of the above, cram some seats or standing where there was space around the edge, the enclosed space and the city centre location with a National League team or a Scottish League One team in it, packing in a couple of thousand on a Saturday, could be a really cool way to revive these spaces and create a new kind of atmosphere. And for the first time in our footballing history teams would be moving to their most central location ever instead of to random development areas beside a dual carriageway near nobody in particular. You could then get some pop-up bars in the adjoining space. Many have parking spaces and bus routes already in existence. I'd be down in a flash as a neutral.

Our local league so called SPL is frankly a joke
Tanjong Pagar United was previously known as Tiong Bahru United before the name change in 1997 to better reflect the regional identity the club is supposed to represent. They were one of the founding members of our local league that used to be called the S-League that started in 1996.
Just for your info the founding members of the 1996 S-league
    1. Tiong Bahru United (now is Tanjong Pagar United)
    2. Tampines Rovers
    3. Geylang United (now known as Geylang International)
    4. Woodlands Wellington (No longer in the SPL)
    5. SAFFC (now known as Warriors GC but no longer in SPL)
    6. Sembawang Rangers (No longer in the SPL)
    7. Balestier Central FC (now known as Balestier Khalsa)
    8. Police FC ( later changed to Home United FC and now known as Lion City Sailors)

Pity there wasn't a merchandise shop for Tampines Rovers and Geylang International at the hub (or was there?). Could have got yourself a couple of authentic Singapore jerseys to solve your shirt problem at least.
Singapore football has potential but is extremely poorly run.
IMO if FAS used the various Housing estates as building blocks for clubs, they would create a natural invested identity and fan base so even if the footy was not terribly competitive, people who live in these estates ,may have more reason to come out and support the teams. I believe each estate could be anywhere between 60K to over 100K people. Some mega estates with 200K perhaps can host a big team and a smaller one. Prob there are 20+ estates around so you'd be able to divide them into an upper division and a lower one.
That would be FAR more interesting IMO as the teams will be representing each of the estates. It will bring out a bit of partisan support and competition.
(Most people in Singapore >80% live in the housing estates)
but the FAS lacks imagination, and currently Singapore footy is rock bottom.
    Still, a real interesting tour.
