This was expertly done... except, for a group of elitists, they were using surprisingly mundane keyboards. Amazon? Cherry-brand switches? HHKB? I'd expect them to have fully custom boards with exotic switches and knobs and OLED screens, in a staggered-column ergo layout, and doubleshot PBT MT3 caps.
This is perfect
Amazing
i have not watched American physco but im sure this is how it went
When Patrick is asked about his girlfriend “Cecilia”, fans might have noticed that “Cecilia” is the name used in the original script. As all other names are changed, this implies that the creators of this skit did not know any other female names. This is a subtle nod to the fact that programmers have never spoken to women.
Lol, underrated comment
Actually, Sea-urchin seviche is also from the original, implying that programmers did not know any other fancy seafood cources.

I think that's the point. The business cards in the original weren't special either.

The author of American Psycho actually said in an interview a few years ago that if he wrote the book today it would be about Silicon Valley
EinerJeti where did you see that?
@321Ian123 There are some major differences - mainly that coders of a certain tier can't sit at a desk doing nothing all day coasting in position given to them by their relative. The characters in American Psycho literally do nothing most of the day and just network with other business people. A programmer is eventually going to be held accountable and expected to commit some code. Coders are also more direct in their insults as a lot are on the spectrum, Wall Street guys are more secretive and deceptive. I don't think tech people are getting confused about each-others' names whereas that really could happen in the types of environments depicted in American Psycho.
@@coomservative I mean, Wall Street people do work too. Handling an account involves making sure the clients dont pull their money. Also, like these Silicon Valley guys, the Wall Street guys in American Psycho went to high-ranking schools like Harvard and Yale which is exceedingly difficult to get into.
And as to your comment about Silicon Valley people being less deceptive, just look at Mark Zuckerberg as proof that these guys are just as ruthless as anyone on the S&P 500.
That's funny coz Gavin Belson is in the OG scene.
@@coomservative Actual wallstreet guys are not deceptive at all. Clearly, you've never been on the floor.

*Everyone putting their keyboards on the table*
*Drops my model F62 on the tabletop and the table collapses under the weight.*
From my memory, as American Psycho came out in 2000, programming meant making no money, and finding a new startup to work at every few months, while the American attitude towards Wall Street bankers started to turn negative, and at the same time, the sensationalism around sociopathy & psychopathy took off. It wasn't until around 2015 that public opinion of silicon valley started to deteriorate in a massive way, and for similar reasons as Wall Street in the late 90's and early 2000's. In a way, American Psycho was in fact made about programmers, but from a different time, when banking was done mostly on paper, and computers were for nerds and narcs.
