  • We're out here fishing in Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Niagara River. We're running the Stingnose Jigging Spoon, tipped with nightcrawler worms as we jig in deep water for walleye. We're jigging in water from 60 feet to 20 feet along a break.

    Why would anyone give Ivo a thumbs down? What's not to like about him, catching walleye, or fishing the Niagara Bar? Great video Ivo, see you back on Erie.

    I always found that if you tip the lure with a bit of worm it makes the hang on to it just a bit longer to let you get a hook set 👍 good video

    Hello IVO . . . what a nice size channel cat fish also a couple of walleye - it amaze me that part of the water is so calm then in the distance the water is a little choppy - looks like you had a great time -

    Great show Ivo the sting nose has made me a believer. I used them ice fishing and this spring for the open water walleye season and I found that does not matter what the fish they hit it. Thank you for the video.

    How much weight is the sting nose you are you using in 50 ft of water?

  • @karli3031
    @karli3031 3 года назад

    When I’m jigging it always seems to drift back behind the boat to where I’ve been, not vertical. I have moved to a 1 ounce but I can never keep it vertical. It seems to still drag behind even in milder waters. I was wondering what tricks or techniques you have to keep it vertical. I’m not sure if it is beneficial or hindering to be dragging like that. I assume and feel it’s the latter. I watch all of your videos and enjoy them. Purchased many thundermist lures and use them regularly. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  3 года назад

      If you are drifting too quickly to fish vertical, you need to go heavier OR use a drift sock. The drift sock will slow you down and allow you to fish vertical :)

    Great show, Ivo! Query: You don't seem to pay any attention to the jigging spoon hook getting caught on the line, but sometimes when I finish my retrieve I can see that the treble has caught the line, orienting the spoon backwards. Is this an issue or should I just ignore it because it doesn't really affect the fall and behavior of the jig?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  5 лет назад

      ...yes, that is an issue...if the hook gets caught, bring it in and dislodge it.....try changing your jigging method or you can even change the treble to a single hook if you want :P)

  • @karli3031

    I have a question about the vertical jigging. When the lure reaches the bottom, do you leave it touching the bottom jigging up for it to return to the bottom or do you reel it up a few inches off the bottom and jig for it to return just above the bottom? Just curious about contact with the bottom. Thanks Ivo.
    Great video as usual.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  3 года назад

      HI Karl - you can actually use either method...I personally like to let it hit bottom, but if there are lots of snags, then I keep it a few inches off bottom :) Good luck out there

    Great Video, I was wondering if you were using a swivel there but you totally kept that covered up. I live a couple hours away and getting very interested in the Niagara river so these videos are great selling points for me. Have you ever had a run in with American law?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  3 года назад +1

      I was using a snap, not a snap/swivel combo - but you can of course, use either....didn't mean to cover any thing up :) The size snap I was using was a size 0
