I am a vet with 2 tours of Iraq. I nearly took my own life 2 years ago. I watched the original video on the night I planned to end it. This song saved my life. I watched it 3 times and reached out for help. The Veteran's Administration has helped me put my life back on track. I still can't watch this video without crying. I can say 5FDP has saved my life and I will be a fan for the rest of my life.
@@Maddog-wm5xi Yeah, I think it's "It's Jacoby. You saved my life, brother", but I made the same mistake the first few times I watched it and thought it said, "You know me".
Every time i see someone react to this song, i have to watch. As a marine veteran, ive lost 3 of my good friends to ptsd, and have also been lucky enough to receive the call for help and be there. Thank you for watching it through.
It's hard. I'm crying my fucking eyes out right now. They don't understand. You go home and your brothers are still there. And you can't help them! You want to go back and change something so they're alive. But if can't. And who do you blame? When you were right there and you could have done something or not done something. Who knows. But you're sitting right here and they're not. Why aren't they here? Why aren't they with thier family's right now? Why am I here and they aren't. You feel like you cheated or ran away. And they're still there fighting. And dying. And all you want to do is go and help them. If I had done a better job, they'd still be alive. Or maybe if I had died, they would have lived. All that's for sure is they're not here and I am. You are so torn. You get to see all the beautiful things. While they continue to fight. It's so fucked up. Why can't my brothers come home too? Did I... Nevermind. It's nothing. Everything is fine now. It's always been fine. I'm fine. I'm sorry. I. I have to g[now.sorru
These guys did a concert tour in Iraq and Afghanistan while I was deployed in 2009-2010 and I got to see them. It was just them and a couple hundred of us around a small stage. After, they shook hands and met with every one of us and talked to us like we were all just regular people seeing each other on the street. These guys are genuine.
I've never seen the music video for this but have listened this song a lot. It'll be interesting to see it for the first time. Seems very emotional based on other reaction channel thumbnails.
At 22:34 he’s saying “you saved my life brother” after recognizing the man he served with. It’s isn’t just compassion and connect, it’s showing how different life after combat is for every vet. His reaction was hostility until he saw his brother in arms. This music video is so well done, it’s truly like a movie. It shows where all these men started and then life after war. So fucking cool.
Thanks for pointing out what he was saying. I love watching reactions to this video, but reactors seem to miss the connection of that final scene with the beginning where those two are in combat and one goes down, and the other lifts him up by his collar and then the same guys trade places at the end.
Same. I ALMOST make it through. It's the daylight scene in the alley that gets me every time. "You know me. You SAVED MY LIFE, brother!" Puddle of tears.
I can not listen to 5FDP without crying. First, as a veteran listening to this and watching the video always just hits me hard. But secondly, my cousin used to take his youngest daughter to a lot of concerts and 5FDP invited her up on stage to headbang with them while they played and he got some cool pictures of it. He took his own life about a year and a half ago. So no matter what song I hear from them, I start bawling because his daughters no longer have a father, and I no longer have my elder cousin that taught me so much. Next month I'm going to take my daughter to her first concert, but I somehow doubt that either Rob Zombie or Alice Cooper are going to invite anyone on stage with them.
Navy veteran, no war time or boots on ground but it holds very close to my heart to help my veterans in any way I can. Having PTSD myself and suffering from depression I can honestly say I have been to the depths and contemplated my life more than once. My children kept me from stepping over that line! Bless you all who have served, including your families.
i love the fact that you sat there in silence, watching and looking at all the organizations that offer help to vets, to me that is a HUGE sign of respect to them, thank you for that.
The saddest part is that we shouldn't need them. If our country put a fraction of the resources we spend propping up other countries on taking care of those who fought for this country, we wouldn't need thousands of charities just to get vets the help they've earned many times over. It's absolutely disgraceful how this country treats veterans, and the most recent assault on their rights by the Biden administration is just another example of it.
I’m a veteran with PTSD and I cry every time I hear this song because it brings back memories that I hate reliving. You did a beautiful job breaking down this song. Thank you.
Thank you for your service soldier! God bless. I didn't serve myself, but my older brother served a tour in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and he's been different ever since. God bless, I hope it gets easier.
As a UK vet, I know 5FDP support veterans around the world. Thank you for introducing them to a wider audience. Your analysis was in depth and spot on. Thank you ❤️
Thanks to you and all allied veterans. You may have been fighting for your country but by proxy, you were protecting mine as well. I didn't know they gave to veterans' causes in other countries as well. They also support first responders as well. God Bless 5FDP!
@@brunacristina7442 UGH me too. People are quick to assume "scream bad". But sometimes you just gotta! Ivan is the master of letting those screams out from a real place.
Love to see you dive into "Wash it All Away", "Gone Away", "I Apologize", "A Little Bit Off" and/or "Remember Everything". Deathpunch lyrics, vocals and music deserve the attention.
These are all amazing! Though honestly my favorite 5FDP song of all time is "Coming Down" which also really fits the Mental Health Awareness that Ms. Zharoff has so often covered im past songs
Disabled vet here and because of the work 5FDP does with veterans organizations I will NEVER have a bad word for these guys. I am a fan for life because as been said elsewhere here their music has saved my life. Ivan is a growler. He has the best metal growl.
Sadly that statistic at the end, about veteran suicide, has only increased since the release of the music video. it has gone from around 12 a day to 22 a day. To all the veterans out there thank you for your service, stay safe, and don't give in to the 22 a day. o7
My dad had listened to 5FDP for years before I did, and even introduced me to their music. One day, he decided to play it on the living room TV and pulled up the music video. He had never seen the video for this song, and we sat together in tears through the whole video. He actually pointed out to me what it was he mouthed, and every time I hear this song that memory brings tears to my eyes. The story that the video alone tells, and then you add in the music and the text. What a masterpiece
He said "You Saved my life" he was the man shot at the beginning gives me goosebumps mainly because my dad is a veteran and my brother is currently serving.
Marine vet here. I watched that music video only one time and it took me three days to recover from it. It just took me two hours to watch this video, but I had to persist because I love your channel. Thank you for caring enough to help.
I do have to say I wasn't in the Marines. I was in the Army. But as a veteran myself. We all have to stick up for eachother. Regardless of branch of service. We all give eachother beef. But in the end we are all brothers and sisters in arms. Know your not alone in the fight and thank God for the ones who do support the military and veterans. God bless them all.
Just a german guy, here. Serviced in the Bundeswehr, back in 1983. Never had to fight in a war. But I wanna thank you for what you've done to make our lives more safe, sir!
I saw them perform this in concert, and it helped me deal with alot. They had veternas stand before this song and thanks us all. I looked around and I was surrounded by other veterans. At the end of the song, we were all crying. Everyone around us that were non-veterans thank us. I cried like a baby when people did that at a concert no less. I cannot watch this video, or hear this song without crying - still. I can honestly say that along with my wife, 5FDP helped save my life.
This song hits harder to Veterans than you could ever imagine. Every time I watch this video I end up in tears. I spent 27 years in the Army and this hits home.
I just did my little 6x2 with the NG, long ago. But I've spent the last 5 years with the VA trying to make things better there for my brothers and sisters in arms in whatever way I can, because we've lost too many of them needlessly when they got back home.
As a wife of a veteran who has PTSD, thank you for posting this and helping to bring more awareness to my he difficulties these amazing men and women go through. 5FDP has always been huge supporters of the military ❤
To everyone who has served TURELY I SAY THANK YOU for your sacrifice. My brother was a 50 cal machine gunner in USMC, and he is my personal hero thanks to all of you.
As a USMC veteran I have lost more friends by their own hands than any other way. I tear up every time I watch this video. Can't help it. If anybody needs to talk, you can always reach out and I will listen. I am hear for you. Another great reaction. Thank you for what you do Elizabeth.
I'm learning, after years of therapy, it's okay to cry. Strength lies not in standing at the perfect POA, not with the amount of pull-ups or bench press, but being strong enough to express your feelings correctly and unashamedly. Semper Fi brother!
thanks for your understanding. it means the world to hear another Marine is willing to hear out someone else and talk about issues and problems. This video and song tears me up badly. i was in Dessert Storm, Hotel Battery, 3rd Battalion 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division.
This song, along with their cover of Gone Away, always get to me. Veterans past and present go through so much for us, and there's not enough we could do to repay them for their sacrifice. Thank you to all who've served. Lest We Forget.
"Gone Away" triggers the memories of the losses of my brother and my younger son. I'm sure it resonates with anyone who's lost a loved one - no matter who they were.
As a Veteran the best thing we can do going forwards is to not, as a country, solve our foreign problems with our military. We are not the worlds police force and our politicians on both side of the isle need to start remembering that. There seldom if ever the ones sending their own sons and daughters off to combat to suffer PTSD, devastating injuries or worse yet, death. In the present, our government needs to get their heads out of their asses and quit making veterans aid and care a political football. That would be an amazing start. We won’t even get into how criminally underfunded and inefficient the VA is.
Omg I’m an Australian Veteran who invaded Iraq with America and your interpretation of the story is so amazing, thank you ma’am 🫡🇦🇺🇺🇸 I love watching your videos and breaking down the facts about your knowledge! I know you are a Opera singer but you have now become a true master of music 🎼 your face expressions are incredible especially with emotion in the song 🎧 I absolutely adore your work and you have made me smile and be proud instead of the inside battle that I’m going through! War is the most horrible thing ever, I lost my 12 year old daughter and 4 months later I was in Iraq with your country and you have a great understanding of how PTSD especially within a world of terror and violence the horror is to a civilian is truly a place that civilians think they know but they really don’t have the comprehension of what it’s really like 😢it’s truly heartbreaking 💔 and thank you for your support and words! Much love and appreciation from Australian Veterans 🫡🇦🇺🇺🇸💕
As an American who worked with some Aussies during my time in, I wholeheartedly appreciate and love you guys for being there with us. Regardless of how either of us personally felt about the war, I am grateful for all the Aussies I worked with. By far some of the best people I ever met, and I was fortunate to have them there having my back. Absolute professionals in the field and absolutely hilarious guys when there was time for that. By far some of the best people I have ever met.
I'm an OIF vet. I went through a lot of what this video shows. After I got out I was homeless for a long time. 20 years later and I have an amazing wife and kids, but I still struggle with a lot of the mental issues. This song always makes me cry, but I have it as my ringtone, so I carry this message whenever I go.
You are a better man than I. I can't watch this vid for it hits too close. Glad that you came through it brother. Just keep fighting. Lucky man myself. My wife stuck through all of the bad times with me. Still will never be the man I was, but it is good enough.
Thank you for your service. My dad served in the US Army during OEF and was deployed once to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. There is not enough being done for veterans and from listening to my dad's struggles with the VA, much of what is in place helps get one step forward and two steps back at times
"It's me, Jacoby! You saved my life brother!" It gets me every time. This is such a great song with an awesome message. It's also a fantastic intro to FFDP. They have lots more amazing work to check out. Glad you've started on the journey!
@@AndyMan18 Think even Elizabeth missed it. The 'band of brothers' is not a concept that a lot of people get these days. There's a bunch of single occupant universes/narcissism going 'round.
Army vet with two OEF tours here, one in Afghanistan, one in Africa. Its impossible to watch this without a tear, not just for my fallen brothers, but for those who came home, and yet at the same time, never did. It took me about five years to fully realize that I am home, but still to this day I have my moments of terror and trauma. PTSD is real, and for many, the first symptom is denial. If you know a Veteran, reach out to them, even if only to ask if they are okay. It means the world to them, and may save their life.
Navy chaplain here. Watching this while deployed in the Middle East. Thank you so much for your compassion and support for my brothers and sisters. Great video! This song had been one of my favorites since it was released.
Hey chaps! Just got to say, it’s a great thing to see that great content can be seen and shared with the troops. Love to see you on here. Keep it up!!!
Same, this song is a gut punch. It's well done and, having served from '06-'11 and losing friends along the way, I honestly kind of love it despite not being able to get into anything else they put out.
I'm always jealous, yet feel sympathy for those who lost their friends from the military. I was also a Marine, but I didn't have anyone that I could call a friend that has either lost their life in war or after coming home. I have no idea where anyone is or what happened to them after I got out. I never felt any connection with anyone I served with. In fact, it was quite the opposite most of the time. I don't wish any harm on any of them, I just haven't given them a second thought in almost 20 years.
This song helped me get in touch with parts of me I had locked away for years. Not just from my military service, but also from a really rough traumatic childhood. This along with Jeckel & Hyde, and Blue on Black, are my favorite FFDP songs.
Same. Still working on some issues from both (childhood trauma, and combat), but this video and song have a treasured place for me to understand and deal with them.
Blue on Black was a cover of Kenny Wayne Shepherds Blue on Black, but I love that he featured in the cover. I relate in both of your experiences as well.
As an active member still serving, this song is a 5 finger gut punch right in the feels. Thank you for spreading more awareness, And for donating. Much love and appreciation.
As a US Vet I've never gotten through this video without tears. I've lost friends in Afghanistan, Iraq, the bombing in Kobar Towers, and at some point in my life it piled on so heavy that it almost ended me. The VA has never helped with my PTSD, and it was my wife and all my brothers and sisters (other veterans) that helped pull me back. Thank you for reviewing this video and helping to draw more attention to mental health!
As a vet who has battled PTSD, and lost several friends to that fight, this song and video is always difficult. But I love 5FDP and their support, and this music video is something everyone should experience. Ivan's voice delivering this message is truly powerful.
As a vet, this song hits so close to home. I have lost too many friends to their own hand because they could not get the help they needed. I love that pages like yours are helping bring light to the crisis afflicting my fellow veterans/active duty/reservist. Thank you a thousand times over, if this helps one person find help or gives them purpose, it means that you reached someone at the right time and may have saved a life!
I agree. "I apologize" does a good job as well. But as far as the video's visual story goes you can't beat "wrong side of heaven" or "a little bit off"
This is one of my ultimate favourite songs. I am a therapist and work with currently serving military members and veterans. This song touches them deeply. Thank you so much for bringing attention to this song and their cause.
Our veterans are neglected, but at least it's not nearly as bad as in the U$. And, as far as i know, we don't use our military to protect corporate profits. @@christineskinner9928
@@antonioliles5027 I am sorry for your losses. No civilian can truly understand the bond and the loss and the feelings between honour and pride and anger at futility, lack of importance of life by those who use war for politics, not necessarily always for the "greater good". It is exceptionally complex grief.
Thank you for your perspective. I'm a VFW, 19D US Army 1985-1991. My son is serving, 18X SOG he has 6 years so far. I have dozens of family members who served as well. I lost veteran friends in combat and after to drugs and suicide. This song always hits me hard every time I hear it. Thanks you again for sharing. Love!❤️
I'm a 73 year old Vietnam War veteran. I've seen this video probably 100 times, and have cried every time. It's a video that's hard to watch, but it's a story that needs to be told. Btw... this video is 7 or 8 years old, and the numbers they gave are much, much higher today. Please remember - "All persons who have seen war have scars!" Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there. Thank you for reacting to this video!
This song hits so hard😢 it screams and brings to light a VERY serious issue that we have as a country😢. I love how FFDP and Ivan bend over backwards to show support for our Troops. This song really shows off Ivans softer tones and transitions to that mild scream. Ivans scream really shines in songs like “Under and over it”, “The Pride”, and “The Bleeding” and for something with just his softer tone “Crossing over”, and “Far from home” are amazing!
USMC Vet here and fought in the second battle of Fallajuh. This time of year is always hard for me and cried through most of your video. Thank you for your support.
This and "Gone away" are the best songs of 5fdp. You can feel the power of vocal, great meaningful lyrics, great instrumental music. Just a masterpiece
I love this song. I am a vet who did three tours, and it breaks my heart to know Vets are suffering. God has blessed me to have kept my sanity because I was grounded in Christ before I joined after a life of drug addiction. I love you all, my brothers and sisters. Thank Charismatic Voice. I know our Vet will embrace you for your kindness.
I retired 15 years ago after a 24 year career in the Army. I cry every time I watch this video. I don't care. It hurts and helps at the same time. Thank you for your compassion. I hope you took time after this to just watch it and take it in instead of trying to review it. Help where and when you can.
Another (older) Vet here, and this song rips out my heart every time I watch it. Thank you for reacting to this, and much love from the veteran community Elizabeth!
Thank you for chosing this song, with this important message. I'am not an American but a Dutch combat veteran, but the brothers and sisters in arms from all the world are connected. 🙏
Afghanistan combat veteran here, proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years and counting. First and foremost Thank you for your support. I absolutely have a love/hate relationship with this song. on one hand it's a beautiful song with meaningful lyrics that i see a bit of myself in. on the other hand as a veteran with PTSD this song always without fail makes me cry like a child. as much as I love to hear this song, there are times it's hard to bring myself to listen to it. however I also find when other things in life have me feeling down, I can listen to this song and let my raw emotions out so they aren't bottling up. Sadly this video mentions how 1 veteran takes their own life every 2 hours, and that is no longer the case, over the years there was a point where that number was as high as 45 veterans a day, and I believe the average is still aournd 22/ day or 1 veteran an hour.
I still start my day on the 22 Push-Ups A Day Challenge. I am a Vet who must keep a silent story (No declared actions). They were the ONLY men I know as TRUE friends. What they did is silent to all but a very few, yet very loud in my mind. I have participated in several PTSD groups. I don't know that it will ever go away, we each have our own degree of coping. I struggle. But I also know they would kick my a$$ if I rang my own bell.
Also a combat veteran. I struggled for a long time with my PTSD. I was lucky enough to have a strong family to help me out. This song makes me tear up every time. 22 a day is to much.
I heard this when it first came out and didn’t fully understand it, then my sister went to the army. When she came back she wasnt the same person, and unfortunately, she decided she wasnt for this world any more. That was three years ago. She left 2 children behind one whom has severe issues and the other one who was too young to understand. When i hear this song, i feel like i can understand her more regardless of any hate FFDP might get, i really and truly understand and appreciate the effort they put in with this song and video.
As a veteran who has struggled with my mental health and as a vocalist who has refined my craft by watching you videos thank you so much for doing this. I have lost more of my brothers to the battles with their demons than I did in Iraq and Afghanistan and honestly that hurts more. You are only ever as alone as you chose to be brothers and sisters. Reach out to someone
Yeah, this really gets my emotions going everytime I hear/see this but I always think of my brothers/sisters who have a truly hard fight ahead of them.
As a 22 year old from a military family, and with my dad being in the army the first 17 years of my life, the song resonates with me too. I'm really close with my dad, and I'm one of few people he's opened up to about what he deals with. I haven't served myself, yet the song still hits me every time. To all the service members and veterans out there, thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for this country!
My wonderful wife is a veteran and she is an active member of the American Legon, a supporter of a great veteran service foundation in our area called Hero's Haven, and an executive editor for a publication specifically for women veterans called "She Served" and I love her and will ever be impressed with her giving heart to our veterans. If everyone can just do half what she does for our veterans we will be in a much better place in caring for them.
Here and ready to cry. I heard this song when it first came out then for years on the radio and it never really hit me. A few years ago I finally saw the video and it wrecked me and now I can only cry when I hear it. These gentleman have done what few can ever say they try do to completely connect a non-veteran to a veterans' possible PoV and emotions. Thank you FFDP and to you Elizabeth for continuing to spread their needed message.❤🩹
Thank you for this. Im a veteran of the Norwegian army for 31 years as combat medic, i still serve. The message in this song and video is powerful, and a grown man like me cries. This song and the thought of my daughter also helped save my life. This song was shown to me by my daughter, and i love her even more for that. Thank you ffdp, and thank you katarina(my kid) for my life.
I love how you can clearly read his lips as he calls him Brother and then he begins to cry. It's so hard to connect, especially when you have seen some shit
Thank you so much! Most of us who serve have a passion for giving everything we can, and it can take quite a toll on our physical and mental health. I've recently had a 2nd surgery to the left side of my body. Each of my deployments cost me a relationship, including a fiance and a spouse. Severe sleep deprivation (averaging 2 hrs/night for 2 months) during one deployment significantly diminished my mental capacity / health, followed by pandemic isolation (no spouse to come home to) knocking me down further. Earlier this year, I was about 10% of who I was before that deployment. I've turned the corner and I'm on the mend, and my recovery has begun picking up speed but I still have a long road ahead. I'll retire soon and I'll be alright, but many have had a harder time than I.
@@sog4646 A soldier never serves their government, they serve their country, it's people and it's values. They swear allegiance to the country and constitution, not Biden or Trump or Obama.
As an army vet it is very hard to even get through this song without tears. My 3 son's followed my foot steps and served 3 tour's in Iraq. One came back after 9 months from being crushed, 1 being shot center mass and my eldest to this day will not speak of anything from there. My heart has broken . Much love brother's and sisters
I'm a veteran and love five finger death punch I am grateful to them for this song and music video so that the American public can get an idea of what us veterans go through on a daily basis and deal with emotionally! PTSD is like living in the past on a daily basis and having to deal with emotions that you've tried to block out of your mind and memory!
thank you, I recently finished 21 years as an active duty combat medic and we appreciate your words ❤side note at the end he mouthed "you know me, you saved my life brother" he was the one who helped him in the combat zone at the beginning
Also as a veteran with PTSD I’m blubbering like a baby. I can’t get through this video without doing so. Another group and it’s one I belong to is the Combat Vets Association. Our motto vets helping vets. So glad you did this one ❤️
I am not a veteran with PTSD and I am blubbering like a baby too, I can't get through this video either without doing so. Thank you for your service and I wish you all the best.
Ivan has a very clean voice regardless. I saw 5FDP in concert and could hear every single word that Ivan said or sang, even with the other band members. On a different note, this video has always given me chills and, after watching the video once, I can't even sing along to it anymore. Every time I try to, I tear up and my voice cracks.
This band has some of the hardest-hitting songs out there. Ivan Moody actually died for a few moments before being resuscitated, and his discussion of that is in the song "The Tragic Truth". The video is epic. The song "Wash It All Away" is one of their more popular songs with a great video. The song "Gone Away" (a cover of The Offspring original) is another one like this that shows what Veterans go through. "Remember Everything" is a fantastic song that speaks about household abuse and growing up with it. As a veteran, my favorite song of theirs is one that most never mention. It's a song called "Got Your Six". To me, it speaks to the fact that veterans take care of other veterans because it seems like we're the only ones looking out for each other. At the end of the day, none of us care about what branch we were in, where we served, or what we did. We just know that we have to be there for each other. I dedicate "Got Your Six" to all of us out there.
It is difficult to watch this video without tears. Even without the visuals, the song has a lot of meaning and application. The vocals are haunting. One thing to note, there is a hard-to-hear track under the vocals where he isn't singing, but speaking the lyrics. That adds a kind of ghostly undertone. The production on this track is quite beautiful, in the way that it feels like it is meant to convey a message. You can feel the heartbreak in the lyrics.
I remember my first time hearing this song, I paused it and called my dad over and we both watched it. He teared up so much because he had some buddies that were transferred from his Navy unit, to combat and after the war they weren't given the proper love and care the Government should've given them. People call Five Finger Death Punch the Nickleback of metal, buuuut, I always loved Ivan Moody. I loved him since the band he was in before FFDP called Motograter. But yeah going back to talk about mine & my father's reaction to this, we both bawled our eyes out and I hugged him tight. He never experienced combat (Thank God), but he was supposed to be transferred to two battleships and got denied, but again Thank God he got denied both times because they came back destroyed, with little to no survivors, the survivors that did come back were severely wounded and even amongst the survivors, some were DOA. When he told me that... my heart sank. Because, if he indeed wasn't denied, I possibly would have never been born. On top of that, in 1991 he also suffered from ARDS (the stage of pneumonia that usually ends with death) and was saved with literally 5-10 minutes to spare before he would have been flatlined. I was born on November 2nd, 1994. So again... three incidents that would have resulted in me never being born.
5FDP is a great band who supports many great messages. Veterans, mental health, sobriety, ect. Ivan has done a lot for his home town in Wyoming like starting an AA group when they didn't have one. All around a great guy
Between this song and their cover of "Gone Away", they really hit hard to me with the lyrics and the visuals as an 18+ year Army Soldier. I've felt personally the struggles and have seen them from my brothers and sisters. While things have gotten better for Veterans, there is still a lot of work to be done. And bringing awareness that FFDP has done and your extended reach definitely helps.
I did not serve but want to thank every single one of you who did. This was hard for me to watch so I can't imagine what you must have gone through. Thanks again
on the mental health side of things, you might check out the band "Suicidal Tendencies." They are a skate punk / thrash metal band that routinely released songs dealing with mental illness and depression (the band name should have given that away) and they did so despite the fact that this band emerged out of LA's gang scene. Their music (and fashion) deeply influenced the punk and metal scenes and for those of us listening to their music growing up were sometimes a literal life line.
Like so many others I too am a veteran living with PTSD from Afghanistan. It took me over 16 years to finally “come home” running and music have been my best therapies. To other commenters: we few, we happy few
As someone who has depression, FFDP's song "A Little Bit Off" means a lot to me and can help me explain what it is like to live with depression. FFDP also did a version of "Blue on Black" to benefit First Responders that is also well worth a listen.
When I was going through some very rough near unalive type depression senior year of high school these days were who I was always listening to and the song "coming down" really struck me
"a little bit off" describes it so well, doesn't it? Some days are fine but some aren't and you're just "a little bit off." Depression, anxiety, anger issues, survivors guilt, PTSD.... Sometimes we all need a little help.
Five Finger Death Punch is such an incredible band. I’ve seen them live 23 times. Their song “Remember Everything” quite literally saved my life in 2018. Thank you for your support to the veterans. There’s a good number of vets here, so all you reading this, reach out to your brothers and sisters. It could save a life and it means more than you’ll know. Semper Fi. 🦅🌎⚓️
I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to hear you do a song more than this. I cannot wait!! FFDP is my all time favorite bands and they have SOOOO many amazing songs. Ivan is awesome in my book!
I absolutely LOVE that you included this song. No matter how many times I've seen this music video, it's still impossible to get through without tissues.
I can’t watch this without choking up. Thank you for sharing the message, and thank you for letting the organizations scroll by. Your admiration was apparent given the silence during that last bit, and it was felt deeply. Thank you. ❤
Brings up a lot of horrific memories wrapped in beautiful moments. That moment of silence while the resources played was truly one of those beautiful moments. Thank you. Always Forward.
5FDP is my favorite band of all time. Seeing them covered on this channel is a very pleasant surprise. If you want to hear more of them, I recommend "Coming Down" and "Gone Away". The music videos for both tell a tragic, but ultimately uplifting story.

Thank you for staying with us, for being brave enough to reach out for help.
"You know me! You saved my life, brother!"
That part never fails to get me.
Yep. Always tear up on that part.
I always thought he said "Jacoby" because if you look closely that's his last name... but either way the message gets across.
@@Maddog-wm5xi Yeah, I think it's "It's Jacoby. You saved my life, brother", but I made the same mistake the first few times I watched it and thought it said, "You know me".

Every single time
Every time i see someone react to this song, i have to watch.
These guys are genuine.
that's amazing honestly
Thats actually such a show of human empathy is kinda hard to think about. Kinda love them for that alone honestly
Thank You for Your Service !
I met them the same way in Iraq around the same time. They are very genuine and humble people.

I hope the best for both of you. Don't ever lose that war in your mind. All too many do daily. Once you experience war, it never ends for you.

Always help your battle buddy.
I wish they would make an entire album and then make it into a movie. I know I would pay to see it.
Thanks for pointing out what he was saying. I love watching reactions to this video, but reactors seem to miss the connection of that final scene with the beginning where those two are in combat and one goes down, and the other lifts him up by his collar and then the same guys trade places at the end.
Also show how each of us deal with life afterwards...some better than others but it still takes a part of us with it.
@@HVideoH I definitely missed that connection the first time I watched this video.
As a Vet I can NEVER get through this song without tears. I work everyday to try to prevent Vet suicide.
Same. I ALMOST make it through. It's the daylight scene in the alley that gets me every time.
"You know me. You SAVED MY LIFE, brother!"
Puddle of tears.
I'm with you. Thanks for having our Brothers and Sisters back.
Right there with you brother, Def pulls on the heart strings.
I’m not a veteran but I cry too. Veterans get tossed aside, often mentally scared and broken, when they return
You picked one HELL of a song to pick as your first FFDP song. This one is incredibly emotional

It shows class and moreover respect. I totally agree with you!
Respect
Yes Thank you for sitting and reading all the resources they provided. It is hard to sit in silence after all that emotion.
Thank you.

There is data suggesting due to the pandemic and the economy that that number is now cresting 30. I believe it with what I'm seeing.
22 for 22 is a beautiful thing to see. Civilians are bringing more attention to our plight than the VA ever could.

That moment at the end when the guy mouths "You saved my life, brother" hits me so hard every time i see this video...

Yea “Gone Away” made me cry to as a vet who’s lost brothers in combat it’s hard but necessary to watch.
"Gone Away" triggers the memories of the losses of my brother and my younger son. I'm sure it resonates with anyone who's lost a loved one - no matter who they were.
"Gone away" is possibly the worst song aside from "crawling" by linkin park. I start a literal sob within the first few notes.

This song hits so hard😢 it screams and brings to light a VERY serious issue that we have as a country😢. I love how FFDP and Ivan bend over backwards to show support for our Troops. God has blessed me to have kept my sanity because I was grounded in Christ before I joined after a life of drug addiction. I love you all, my brothers and sisters. Thank Charismatic Voice. I know our Vet will embrace you for your kindness.
Thank you for your service...!!! 😎🤘😎 Please know you're loved, appreciated, and honored by EVERY member of my household... ALWAYS...!
“You know me”. “You saved my life brother”. That’s the part that hits me every time.
Thank you, Elizabeth. Never Give Up. It's OK to hurt and cry, but NEVER ok to quit. I didn't, I won't. I'm here for my Brothers and Sisters in arms!
I retired 15 years ago after a 24 year career in the Army. I cry every time I watch this video. I don't care. It hurts and helps at the same time. Thank you for your compassion. I hope you took time after this to just watch it and take it in instead of trying to review it. Help where and when you can.
Thank you for your service...!!! 😎🤘😎 Please know you're loved, appreciated, and honored by EVERY member of my household... ALWAYS...!
I've never been able to watch this video without crying. We owe these men and women so much more than we give them.
Thank you for doing this. ♥️
Thank you for your service from a US vet ❤
@@RNemy509 thank you verry much, and thank you for your service
@BMWKICKS it was the greatest honor of my life ❤️ nothing else has ever come close ☺️
I know exactle what you mean @@RNemy509
As a veteran, I get so emotional over this video.
Thank you from a fellow veteran from below the border, Canadian vets were some of the finest I served with ❤
Also a combat veteran. I struggled for a long time with my PTSD. I was lucky enough to have a strong family to help me out. This song makes me tear up every time. 22 a day is to much.
Thank you for your service brother.
Rather then thanks from people, what would you like to have others say or do for the Brothers and Sisters of the Armed Forces?
I heard this when it first came out and didn’t fully understand it, then my sister went to the army. When she came back she wasnt the same person, and unfortunately, she decided she wasnt for this world any more. That was three years ago. She left 2 children behind one whom has severe issues and the other one who was too young to understand. When i hear this song, i feel like i can understand her more regardless of any hate FFDP might get, i really and truly understand and appreciate the effort they put in with this song and video.
I knew I couldn't make it through this without crying, and I was correct. So powerful!
As a combat veteran, this hits me EVERY time because I can relate to many of the feelings projected in this video.
Thank you for your service!
This is such an amazing song!
This is the song that got me in to Five Finger Death Punch.
Navy vet of the Persian Gulf.
Thank her for her service...!!! 😎🤘😎 Please know she's loved, appreciated, and honored by EVERY member of my household... ALWAYS...!
Former PJ here, this song always hurts. Had a teammate take his life a year ago... I go and spend time with them from time to time.
As a vet, thank you for this. As a person, your strugles are no less than anyone else. Thank you for talking about these issues.
I joined the Army at the age of 32 and am currently deployed. Your support means more than words can express. Thank you.
❤🫡🇺🇸
Stay safe brother
WOW. Bold move choosing to serve under this administration.
Stay safe brother 🫡🇺🇲
@@sog4646 A soldier never serves their government, they serve their country, it's people and it's values. They swear allegiance to the country and constitution, not Biden or Trump or Obama.
As an army vet it is very hard to even get through this song without tears. My 3 son's followed my foot steps and served 3 tour's in Iraq. One came back after 9 months from being crushed, 1 being shot center mass and my eldest to this day will not speak of anything from there. My heart has broken . Much love brother's and sisters
I am so sorry for what you and your family went through and are going through. Words don't suffice, but please accept a virtual hug?
Thank you much appreciated
((((((((((((((❤HUGS❤))))))))))))))
I miss my brother's in arms everyday. Civilians don't understand the bond we share. Love you guys. 🇺🇸⚓️
Absolutely. Across the oceans too from a vet in the UK. 💪

@@OfficialWasteland It was an honor and a privilege. Thank you. 😊
As a Veteran and Post Commander of my local VFW, thank you for highlighting the struggle.
Thank you for your service!

As a veteran with 17 years in SOF this song brings me to tears each time if I watch it.....
I'm a Gulf War veteran! My heart is broken just by watching this! More needs to be done
This version is 3 stories in one. With the music, the video, and the text. So powerful!
These guys started 20 min from here. Glad to know their message about our vets is appreciated.
1000% with u. I cried like a Child then they played This + Remember everything Accustic live 2017 !
I was going to see them in Amsterdam. But they couldn't make it. In stead I got floor jansen 😐
FFDP almost always pulls deep on your emotions. It is painful, but also cathartic.
Thank you for doing this video.
