D-1,2,3,N.A.I.A.,J.U.C.O. the players play as hard as they can, work as hard, max effort, desire is the same.Highs of winning the same, lows of defeat the same. No matter what level, game matters the same amount.I played and coached on the J.U.C.O, N.A.I.A, and D-2 and D-3 level.lacrosse and basketball. level never mattered. Intense, yet not hostile. NOTHING bad about D-3 Football at all. Nothing !
I played in what is now known as the WIAC and can assure you that players on each team were at a minimum all-conference in high school, many all region, and some all-state. Essentially, they might be a couple inches shorter and/or 10 to 20lbs lighter than their D1 counterparts. Some were late bloomers, some underrecruited, and some were just not quick, fast, or strong enough to play D1.
I enjoyed my time playing D3 football at Lagrange 12 years ago. I didn’t get to play varsity but the workouts, life lessons, and friends I made are what I enjoyed most.
So basically I play de my whole life and so now I am in college now freshman (20 year old ) 182 lbs and 6’3 want to play wide receiver. I started getting experience from a trainer who knows about it I been going there for 3 weeks and I was wanted to walk to a d3 school . Do you think is to late?
I love watching football .I would watch D-3 football if I was near where they were playing.I lived in a D-2 town and enjoyed following them. Cool video, great perspective!
Hey, nice video. I take it you are a Bears/Chicago fan. I played at North Central College in 89/90, when the Cardinals were a doormat in the CCIW, nothing like the success they are enjoying now. I was a 5'7" 170lb DB myself. I actually care more about the North Central game as any other college game on a weekly basis, I used to be a part of the Quarterback Club and sat in the tent, but now that I live out of state I watch every week on streaming, part of that is that NCC is a regular D3 playoff team.
We are BIG D3 fans. I have tremendous respect for the athletes at this level. They play for the love of the sport. Big fan of North Central College (Illinois) Thanks for the video
Being a fan 2 div 3 schools Centenary college of Louisiana and East Texas Baptist University. I've had alot of people come at me with alot of dumb hot takes. Especially the first one you mentioned. Great break down of the facts and thank you for helping to shed light on the subject.
I was a two sport NAIA athlete and I enjoyed every minute of it...I played soccer and ran track...my school didn't have football then....they do now...but when I play older college football video games and I create schools, I create all small college teams...that's how much I love small time college athletics!!
That’s the thing ppl don’t talk about is how any level of colleges have the same exact intensity of workouts, D1 players just get all the recognition and get payed for doing Ts
Thanks for doing your channel. We can learn more about division 3. I was surprised about the amount of teams in D3! I'm from Montreal with Alouettes season tickets in the CFL. How the D3 players with a NFL hopes, what about the other leagues? Do they think about them? UFL, Arena, CFL, old leagues. Other countries, like in Mexico, Brazil, France etc
My son was a D3 football player, and I teach at a D2 college. The thing I could see is that everyone on the D3 teams were there because they wanted to be there. No one hanging on just to keep their scholarships. The enthusiasm at the D3 level is the most fun part. They love the game. Go find the video of my son’s team after winning the conference championship.
consider transitioning into club rugby after college football. Most large cities have at least one rugby team that's full of other adults looking for a contact sport outlet. All of your work ethic will transfer perfectly. You just need to learn a different set of rules.
The conference he plays in, is commonly called the SEC of D3.. and it's true. I used to cover UW-Whitewater and UW-Platteville when I worked in that state. They are solid, and yes, the guys play hard and love the game as much as anyone. I might even say that many D3 programs are better than a lot of D2 schools.
D1 FBS is about money. D3 is about the love of the game. This is part of why I fell in love with D3 sports. Five years in the UW-Whitewater Marching Band didn't hurt either...
The D3 guys that get drafted, they usually end up at the D3 level for a couple of reason's. Football may have not been their sole focus in high school, and thus they haven't reached their potential yet, and D1 colleges don't scout smaller high school players as much when they aren't playing up to the potential of a low caliber D1 athlete. Another reason for a player like Ryan Ramczyk initially, was he didn't want to be far away from home, and he didn't want to live the D1 lifestyle coming out of high school. The stress and expectations generally aren't as high at the D3 level compared to the D1 level. I know a few guys that play D1 and how the prepare throughout the year is almost like a job. I also see a lot of D3 players (UW-Whitewater), and the whole atmosphere of how they prepare feels more laid back than at the D1 level. I feel like the guys that get drafted from the D3 level don't truly realize their potential until their 3rd year at the college level.
Yo the guy making the tackle at 2:25, correct me if I’m wrong but is that Mason Priebe? I currently coach with him at Neenah High School. He’s an absolute dawg. I managed at UW Oshkosh in 2021 and 2022 before getting the high school job and you’re 100% correct that the D3 guys do it for the love of the game and I respect the hell out of D3 players for it.
That is definitely a yes. UW-Whitewater which is one of the better D3 teams has a lot of DE's for example that weigh 225 - 255 pounds. The guys that would play DT's for them weigh between 260 - 290 pounds which would be the size of a DE and the D1 level. They would get smoked if they played up to the D1 level.
Your conference is the best, and 4 schools have stadiums with 10,000 and over capacity. Huge facility' I have been to Cortland games, they are 6500 their #1 rival, the best in D-3 and D-2. Itaca seats 5500. When they play each other,13,000 plus are there. They have played in Yankee Stadium,22,606.There was a rumor two yearts aho in the media covering small college sports that the W.I.A.C. was going to move to D-2,was that holding any truth?
If they do move to D2, then most of the conference is going to struggle heavily. UW-Whitewater has played D2 schools over the course of the past 10 years and have beaten them or come close to beating them, but IMO only 2-3 of the WIAC teams can hold up to D2 schools right now.
Just potentially got a chance to go play fcs d1 at utah tech but umbh the d3 is still lookin like a better option, but my goal is the nfl is there a way to transfer out of a d3 via transfer portal?
Yo Richie, i live near uw stout, and one guy from my school recently decommitted thier and commited to uw wisconsin. I think that was a mistake. I personelly love to watch college football and i love all levels
If it was only about football, sure it could be an error, but perhaps that guy had an academic reason for wanting to attend UW-Madison; it may be that the guy could want to study in a major not offered at UW-Stout.
@@LifeOfScenario Other commenters talked about the high school playing records of D3 players: all-region (sometimes good enough for D2, maybe FCS if in Georgia, Texas or Florida) and all-state (normally gets at least FCS offers, depending on the state), and some players were underrecruited, too small or too light, but had the football IQ.
So basically I play de my whole life and so now I am in college now freshman (20 year old ) 182 lbs and 6’3 want to play wide receiver. I started getting experience from a trainer who knows about it I been going there for 3 weeks and I was wanted to walk to a d3 school . Do you think is to late?
listen DIII guy here i’m old now but it’s simple all of us who played know the size in athlete is significantly noticeable and it’s cause D1 has all the bells and whistles, nutrition staff/weight room/s&c coaches and just the athletes in general. You’ll see a lot more 5’7-5’10 guys in DIII than you will in D1. Doesn’t mean the players aren’t good just don’t have the measurables to play at the D1 level, we’re not all born equal when it to comes sports and most of us knew this in HS
Is there still no d2’s baseball teams in Wisconsin? All d3 Wisconsin schools I played (baseball) and yours was one of the 10 or so were loaded with talent and very good. We have a bunch of division 2’s in Michigan. I also heard there’s only 1 division 1 in Wisconsin for baseball. This was early w000’s btw. A CB from my d3 college was drafted in 5th round of nfl draft. A pitcher in my league was drafted 5th rd of mlb draft. If you have talent you can make it
UW-Whitewater, UW-LaCrosse, and UW-Platteville are essentially D2 schools depending on the sport. If 1 or multiple teams left to become D2 schools, the whole conference would probably collapse, and realignment would need to occur. There is only one D1 school in Wisconsin that has football, so if a kid doesn't receive a scholarship from there they go and play in the Dakota's, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, or at the D3 level.
In most cases d3 schools give grants. So you're not paying the full tuition. I went d3 and my freshman year was free due to grants and scholarships. Tuition was $30k a year. Sophomore year I paid like $7k a year. I know i graduated with than $30k in debt
How smug and condescending. So D3 gives a kid not able to play at a higher level a chance to compete and play. News flash: HS football is not as good as college ball. D3 isn't as good as D1. D1 FCS isn't as good as the SEC. Go pound sand.
