The one that was make more difference was new level, probably because it's not a pentatonic based riff, i think that the pentatonic ones don't make that much difference downtuned and fits E or drop D better
This made my day. Im sure if Dime was still around he would have transitioned to a dropped tune just like Zakk did for a bunch of songs. Zakks No more tears dropped is insane heavy
@@BRO77TX bruh its litteraly based around the same notes and tempo if you play guitar and have heard the ocean you certaintly have bad ears if you dont think so xD
I know they did a few songs in Drop G on the Trendkill album, which is even lower than A, not to mention his Drop B tuning in Damage Plan, so Dime definitely would not have been a stranger to this low of a tuning.
Trendkill was recorded in C Sharp standard not drop G. Drop G is low even for a 7 string much less a 24.75 inch scale Dean/Washburn 6 string. And Dime always played in a standard lowered tuning not any drop tunings
@@codyscott7711 Most of the album is in C# but not all of it. The songs "Sandblasted Skin" and "The Underground in America" on the Trendkill album are both played in a modified drop G. Dime took a D tuning and dropped the top string all the way down to G. Look it up.
@@ShadowMantraSteve awesome! Mine has lived in D# standard since getting it, but have contemplated throwing 13-60s on it “just for fun”, lol! Thinking more seriously about it now!
They don't really sound heavier. Maybe a new level does, but that's about it. The higher tuning seems to cut through better. Weird because I am a fan of low tunings.
@@ShadowMantraSteve nice! My band is tuned to drop B too. A really nice tuning, despite making it difficult to cover songs in drop D etc, it has a really nice feel.
Ya know what, I wonder how some of the riffs from bands that tune down hard would sound in e standard.
Great idea
Got You cover, pal.

Slipknot in E standard 😂
Sounds happy lol
A New Level is just every hardcore / beatdown band lol. Killed it dude
This sounds better than 95% of actual metal bands. Just proves how big and creative Dimebag was.
It’s not just Dimebag. It’s the drums as well
@@Paniekzaaiertje The Abbott Brothers where cut from the same cloth.. We may never, in our lifetime, see musicianship at their level
This just sounds like southern influenced metal, has a slight maybe bluesy tinge to it. A lot of metal bands make use of the blues scale.
A heavy riff is heavy regardless of how you tune.
So true.
Many modern metal riffs would sound like shit in standard tuning...Just like an ugly girl without make up
@@MirkoMetal88 beautiful analogy
Cool idea but its weird that none of these riffs sound heavier in drop A. I guess they really were made to be played as they are!
Yes I agree
I ageee as well They don’t!!
It is because there is nothing heavier than pantera Riffs. A pantera Riff is the Definition of Heavy.
Congratulations, you just got 99% of modern metal.
Yeah. Shit
A new level was already so heavy in its original tuning. I want to believe thats why the called it that lol

The best riffs! I’m Broken one of my fav, should have ended with Domination breakdown!! 💀
Riffs are heavy but that eyebrow movement is bending the space-time continuum.
If Mick Thomson played for Pantera
Mick plays in Drop a?
@@dilanobando25 yep
@@rtomas47 didn't know, I tough it was B standar or something
@@dilanobando25 depends on album tho, they used Drop B and Drop A tunings

Wow! Would love to hear your covers from the new tracks from Fortitude 🙏
I will do at some point!
@@ShadowMantraSteve Great!
This is awesome. I feel like it sounds like Slipknot lol
13 Steps and A New Level sound fantastic in that tuning.
Finally some panteraaaa 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 killing itt
Long overdue, and thanks!
Came here for the riffs but stayed because of your facial expressions throughout the vedio, keep up the good work my brada😂🤘🏻
Will do 🤘
a full cover of a new level like this would be so sick
2:30 such a nice and headbanging face
You make me headbang bro
Niceo
Some of these sound like some BOLT THROWER riffs. Killer job
Pretty cool versions of this Pantera classics 😃👌🎸🎶🎶
Thank you 🤘
@@ShadowMantraSteve No problem 😃👍
F*cking insane ! When a album full cover in drop A ? 👀
Can't help making that drop tuning face, hell yeah 🤘😁🤘
Dimebags Damage Plan tuning was Drop A
Ok, please tell me this ain’t just me but when he played I’m Broken, I swear I heard The Ocean by Led Zeppelin
I think it was just you my friend!! 😊
I CANT UNLISTEN NOW
Its almost the same riff so no its everyone who plays guitar who have heard both🤘🏻🤘🏻

I can hear where you're coming from, some similarities for sure.
13 Steps to Nowhere sounded fucking awesome in Drop A
You should do this with the band Psycroptic.
I imagine Pantera's sounds in drop B
Awesome video dude 🤘🤘🤘
Thank you 🤘
The head shaking
That was fun to watch brother
This sounds so sick man - awesome!
Now that's what we call Metal 🤘

Welcome!
Sounds like happy death metal
I find the creature funny on you shirt. Looks like it is jamming along :D
Look up Ziltoid, he's the creation of Devin Townsend!
I can hear Zakk Wylde or Max Cavalera sing to these…. OR Phil in one of his many metal vocals 😆🤘🏻🤘🏻
Damn. these sound legit good
Pantera is so heavy that doesn't need to tune down
Very cool 😎 the tuning doesn't work but still a good watch. I'm broken sounds all good in drop a though.
Drop C# is my fav
Although some of additional pretty cool
Awesome and i love the shirt brother
Thank you 🤘
holy shit man thats insane
Thank you 🤘
ugh heavy AF 🤘🤘
Is that a Ziltoid shirt? Cool!
Indeed!
Also came here to say I dig the Heavy Devy shirt.
Great tone, dude!
Thanks!
cowboys from hell sounds amazing in drop A tuning
A new level made me hurt my family......sounded fantastic.
I dig it
Love the faces
Loved it, but... I'm sad there was no "floods"
Loving the ziltoid shirt!
Indeed!
Pantera + drop A = Crowbar
Nirvana in drop A 💪👌❤🇦🇷
I’m so used to drop A that it just sounds like standard to me now
Honestly the original sound is heavier because the notes are more defined if you know what I mean.
Fucking awesome
Thanks!
A new level sounds just like the obey the brave cover
Awesome sounding Ibanez! I have the ART300 with the IBZ-LZ actives that run off of AA batteries. Is that what yours is running, out of curiosity?
Thank you! Yes it's the same with AA batteries too.

Nice shirt.
Better yet, Underground in America tuned up to Drop A...
Or Strenght beyond strenght. Or 25 years. Or The Great southern trendkil. Or Domination. Fuck, I can’t stop now :))
I'll still take the originals any day but this was fun to listen to.
Saw a Ziltoid shirt. Sweet
Big Devy fan!
Nice \m/
He got riff
How do you get the tension so nice on the low A on a 6 string?
Bigger gauge strings, probably
I have 12-56 on as it's normally in drop b. If I was staying in drop a I'd go a little heavier but then I might need to alter the nut a bit.

Alice In Chains in Drop A
Ну за пантеру однозначно лайк :)
Спасибо!
If you would have tried to match his tone/played through his gear while also down tuning this video would be perfect. Someone call Ola!
Woah woah whoah, better slow down there Cowboy, your gonna break the universe. It's too heavy to process, well crumble under the weight!!
LOW TUNING DONT MAKE IT HEAVY, GROOVE DOES
Might not make it heavy but it definitely sounds cooler in lower tunings.
Cant believe you didnt do domination, their heaviest song
We would've all died from the heaviness
carajo band medley style
Cool playing but their regular tuning fits better!
Just me that thinks these all sound like they could be early nickelback songs
Basically. Machine Head play Pantera
Drop A on a 6 strings ??!
Sure, would have been better on a baritone 6 but it did the job!
Pantera is now somehow muddier
This really does the great Pantera NOOOOOOOO justice hate it so much!!!!!!!
I always fuck up CFH
Underground in America and sandblasted skin are actually dropped down to a
Cowboys from hell sounds very weird
Guys pantera used drop g in one of their songs don't remember it tough
The Underground in America
I'm curious how black metal would sound in drop A.
It’s like a different band
sounds oddly slipknot
Am I the only one who thinks they sound heavier as written? There is a time to down-tune, and a time to "not".
I like heavy stuff played in drop a Pantera come on man he played it in standard a for a reason
What guitar is that?
Ibanez Art 320
