I'm kinda baffled by the fact that it's basically socially accepted that Shadowstep is never going to be nerfed, when that card has ALWAYS been problematic for the game. Everytime you could play Shadowstep in Rogue and Rogue was too strong, it was Shadowstep's fault. Literally in the whole history of Hearthstone.
Honestly any card with 0 cost us an issue
Technically, the recent Mech Rogue on release wasn't broken because of Shadowstep.
Nor was Kingsbane Rogue.
Nor was Jackpot Rogue.
Nor was Maestra Rogue.
While it's mostly been Shadowstep breaking Rogue (Leeroy, Pirate, Garrote, Miracle) and often Shadowstep has helped other decks (Like Maestra Rogue stepping their Gnolls or Jackpot stepping their Trickster) it hasn't been the exclusive reason behind Rogue's dominant performances.
It is not socially accepted. Everyone hope shadowstep to be nerfed, they just look at all the times it was not nerfed and not expect developpers to change it
It has always been part of Rogues identity. The class was always a glass cannon, and shadowstep was a cornerstone of that identity. The card does absolutely nothing without some synergy to go with it, so it’s often a dead draw, or at least a high value resource. You didn’t want to Shadowstep an SI-7 because now you used 2 cards, and you didn’t really have any draw besides common cards. Prep is very similar card, and so was edwin.
Rogue used to gain tempo (and cheat mana) by using more resources than other classes would on a turn. And if they didn’t do that they were by default losing. That was all things consider pretty fine design.
Nowdays Rogue has way too many ways to circumvent the main drawback. They use five cards to gain huge tempo, and lose little tempo to draw three or four. When you don’t need to rely on Auctioneer or Prep Sprint to draw cards, cards like Shadowstep become problematic and hard to balance around.

Everytime you could ramp in druid and druid was too strong, it was Ramping's fault. Literally in the whole history of Hearthstone.
my bold prediction for the mini set is that they will add a brann highlander payoff that is ether a neutral shudderwock (for minions only) or for the rest of the game, the first battlecry you trigger each turn triggers an additional time
That sounds incredibly cool and incredibly overpowered. Remember last year when they added regular brann and he broke the whole year? I remember.
Shudderwock is already broken, we don't need a second one.

Make the summoned minion from Cactus Construct have a death rattle that gives you the minion so it has to die for you to play it on turn 2. And would work with death rattle synergies

They should return Valerok to its non-dragon form if they bounce it back to hand (shadowstep , breakdance)

I feel like Dragon Golem is fine as is because it’s a gamble to play the minion at 7 mana (especially with hard counter cards like objection and blade master Okani). Thaddius needs a nerf true, but I suggest making the effect “The first odd/even card you play this turn is 1 mana” to prevent heavy mana cheat since you can use a lot of other cards to make clones of Chaddius I mean Thaddius (hell I’d make the same suggestion for Aviana even though she’s a 10 cost which can still be cheated out via innervate). Now, I would suggest a buff for Skarr by making the damage he can deal via battle cry (damage equal to the number of elementals played) but not force the player to play an elemental every single turn
I'd find it cool if for the miniset they give excavate support and excavate legendary reward for classes that didn't get any, and in the opposite way, highlander payoff for the classes that didn't get any but I feel like that would be too strong of a mini set.

Yeah they wont do that though, excavate is like galakrond from the last time we got highlander cards. Anyone that didnt get highlander got galakrond, no overlap.

@@RedEyeStorm7 not from the uldum set. Mage Druid Paladin and Hunter got highlander cards, while Rouge Warrior Priest Shaman and Warlock got Galakrond. The Warlock highlander stuff was from mean streets a long time ago
Cactus Construct absolutely needs adjustment. The fact so many minions have synergy with themselves because of tribes means it ALONE can snowball the early game. With a deck that runs no other one drops.
The card should offer a mediocre T1 play and a card advantage as you play one card over 2 turns. Instead it very often offers an imminent threat of a tribe synergy entirely outside the deck. The fact aggressive decks full of T1 plays include and mulligan for it should tell the developers that something is seriously wrong with the card.
It’s a very cool design, and I think it fits Druid well. Ramping mana is what druids do, and as a result they don’t really want to include many T1 and T2 plays that aren’t just ramping mana. Giving them a tool to solve both turns works great with that identity. But it should be good value, bad tempo. Not great tempo, and also great value.

Some Legendary cards are very high-value, doing multiple things. But Reno-Hero has too many for its 8-cost. It obliterates your board, keeps you from having more than one minion the next turn, and gives you a nice new hero power. But the "bounce-back" from your opponent doing this to you can take at least 4 rounds (while your opponent keeps their board). The counter to Reno-Hero is ... nothing. You can put a giant Taunt minion in your deck for after your opponent wipes your board, but has that worked for anyone? Rather than nerf its cost to 9 mana, I would rather have its "you can only have one minion next turn" occur during the initial Battlecry.
Wild just needs two cards to be reworked or completely gutted, questline warlock and open the way gate. Low elo in wild is filled with these toxic decks not allowing board based strategies to have any meaning

Cultivation even costs a negative amount. Played Loatheb in wild on the cultivation turn, still they played for 0 mana.
Totally agree on Mechwarper. It shouldn't be in this kind of indefinite limbo. Either unban it or nerf it.
I was trying to build a deathrattle DK today, and realised the class has so many tools for the archetype but no payouts aside from Plagues. Common cards exist, and the common undead package is pretty good, but I think the archetype fits DK well, and should have other directions than just Plagues.
You can go UUF and include Reska, but Reska is a very late game card while the rest of the package is clearly more aggressive. The deck needs more cheap deathrattles like foul egg to feel less clunky. I’d rather not have access to strong effect like Reska, and build the deck around gaining early board presence. Similarly to Hunter.
All mana reduction cards should have a clause that says "can't cost less than 1". That would fix so many things.
Reduce the attack on Vel. The payoff is the discover anyway. Make him a 1/6

Then giving it battlecry: your Odd/Even cards (in hand???) Cost 0 this turn (swaps each turn!) To help prevent cheating it out would be interesting design space too :)
Would this kill the card? Maybe. But while i am by no means a design expert, i do think something needs to be done that can also preserve his flavour. Rogue/druid coin, cost reduction, or even the "your handsize and mana go to 11!" Card might get a little more play!
Plus cheating out an 11 taunt w undead synergies is still pretty damn good 😅
The mini set should give highlander some support, they are really fun decks and not that highly winrated

I'd actually like Sharpshooter to get revamped. In its current form, it shapes the entire Naga DH archetype around it. it dictates the deck as a one card WC deck and its unhealthy play pattern. As it is right now, it defines Naga DH and limits any future design for that archetype. And it's kinda sad for me, because I'd like some sort of healthier Naga DH deck to exist and get support, but that simply can't happen so long as that card is in its current state.
Gotta disagree on the Mechwarper take. Yugioh's main basically the wild format, you can use cards from 1999. Many of these old cards break the game by interacting with the new mechanics. The ban/limited list ensures that those older cards do not get out of control. the old creators HS/YGO didn't understand how some cards can become broken the more cards you add. Mech warper was a decent card back in the day but with more mana cheating, magnetic, etc it makes the card to OP. Keep it banned
Only difference is there's a difference between banning a card from PvP Ladder and banning a card from every mode including Casual play and Solo Adventures.
That's a case of a card needing adjustments ASAP.
The advantage of a digital card game is that cards can be changed.

There was already 560 dust hunter tier 1 deck, and they didn't touched it at any point
since they increased the sludge barrels to 3 mana you can actually OTK your opponent with thaddius on like turn 6 cus a lot of the cards you use for OTK costs 1 or 3 mana
Ra-den became so toxic after giving it taunt, they should nerf that card. Way too OP, definitely, yes sir.
I hope they will print a neutral card like starfish,even a legendary" starfish(for 3 mana) would be great.

Honestly it doesn’t matter what needs, buffs or minister brings. Won’t even consider playing again till new expansion. And only if reveals show the game goes back to require even a mediocre level of skill instead of all luck.
Im just sad that they introduce all these alternate ways to bounce that never see play because of Shadowstep. Rogue got a legendary bounce spell which was pretty much not played because of shadowstep just does it better. Shadowstep either needs a nerf or for it not to come back to standard. Simplest Idea take away the mana cheat from it/reduce it to one/add not less than one to it.

NON INTERACTIVE = horrible experience for the other player. I can't play the game and my decisions have mostly no impact unless I play aggro or get a lucky disruption...
how are you complaining about a tier 3 deck being bad for the game when there is a 36% playrate deck in high legend? what's bad for the game are insanely dominant decks, not playstyles you dislike.
I don't CARE if a deck is dominant if it has a reasonable play style that is overall healthy for competitive play. I can deal with rogues and the decisions I make MATTER. Also rogue is not easy to play well. Skilled players play it because of that and because it is fun (although too much rng sure but its hearthstone). What is not good for the game is braindead archetypes where your opponents choices often have 0% impact on the outcome of a game.
Insanely dominant decks are NOT bad for the game. It often actually means that deck is fun and people enjoy playing it. Not always but that tends to be the case with rogue. This is one of the least problematic rogue archetypes I've seen in a while.

HS is no longer a trading card game. It's a racing game. No matter what changes you make, games are over by turn 5-7 every time.

My bold prediction Hearthstone will finally become f2p friendly, wild packs will cost half price, the dust system will be remastered for players' benefit and pigs will fly!
The mining rogue deck isn't even good, it gets shit on by all druid decks and anything that has a wide board.
Mining rogue has no win condition outside of hoping you get randomly generated burn, and at that point you should just play a deck that can always have burn
People want everything to have "not less than 1" while the real problem is passive manacheat. Cards that reduce costs on something once are not broken in the same way cards like Thaddius or Mechwarper are. This is problem is also very related to how much card draw some classes have because cheating mana on a lot of cards wouldn't let you combo your opponent on turn 5 if it didn't mean you could draw your whole deck.

I would like to compare old Azerite snake with Sif:
Azerite snake at 6 mana steal 10 life, takes 4 cards to get through excavating. It takes 3 turns to deal 30 damage and you need 3 Brewmasters to complete the combo.
Sif is 6 mana deal upwards of 40 damage in one turn. It takes about 4-6 spell schools to really hit insane levels of damage. and you need a couple of low cost spells to hit the opponent with.
So for about the same amount of cards. Siff deals more damage and can happen earlier than azerite snake and does so in one turn instead of three turns.
There is the same amount of counter play versus the two cards. Try to steal or dirty rat them out of the hand. Which is very unlikely and total RNG. Or try to kill the opponent before turn 6.
I am happy that the snake got nerfed even though warlock is my favorite class and I won a lot with it. It was unhealthy for the game and unfun to play against.
However I strongly wish that Sif could get adjusted. This card is just as strong as the 6 mana snake if not stronger and it is equally unfun to play against.

whether otk warlock is good or not doesn't depend on better decks getting nerfed, it depends on what's in the meta, because it's not strong against everything. it's strong against its good matchups, slow decks.
it is baffling to me that there is a 36% playrate deck in the game and we're listening to people who are whining about a tier 3 deck. last week everyone was whining about treant druid. the kinds if decks timmies hate is always the same regardless of how good or bad they are. if the matchup doesn't let them play their timmy cards they think the deck needs to be deleted. these kinds of decks are literally designed to invalidate removal and lategame cards, but they sacrifice other matchups in the process. that's why it feels "uninteractive." your cards don't do anything against them if you play a reactive, slow deck, but that's by design. you play a fast deck so you don't get to the lategame. you play few or no minions so removal cards are dead draws. you cannot cave to a playerbase that only wants to play against midrange decks so it can get value off of its favorite cards in every game. the sign that an otk deck is broken is when it is beating everything, not when it is beating slow decks that have no gameplan against it. there are tech cards for this deck in the meta and even warrior doesn't even really lose to it anyway. btw, guess why everyone is playing these slow decks? because they are the only thing that have a shot against rogue. if rogue bricks, maybe you can outvalue them in the lategame (but you often can't anyway, because the deck has no weaknesses besides drawing patches. it has value, tempo, damage, whatever it wants).
A one-turn otk being possible by turn 6 shouldn't be in the game no matter the winrate, its very toxic for the game.

Warlocks were scamming it out and then playing things like Sargeras, Dar'khan, Symphony and Flesh Behemoth to completely overwhelm opponents

April needs to have big gameplay changes for the health of the game. Once per game on many battlecry cards needs to be a thing call it legendary battlecry. Declare blockers must also happen
If they can just curtail the mana cheating with "but not lower than x" rulings it would alredy be a massive improvement

Rogue games can get pretty crazy with all the random shit, so it’s fun even for me when I play them. Treant Druid is the most boring deck I’ve ever seen. Vomit the board with stats and buff them, YAWN!!
Even face hunter was more interesting, it had secrets and leper gnome mini quests and even a legendary minion.
Nerfs I'd like to see:
Boogie Down: 3 > 4 mana
Titanforged Traps: 2 > 3 mana
Sunken Gardens: 1 > 2 mana
Herald of Nature: 3 > 4 mana
Soul of the Forest: 3 > 4 mana
Trial by Fire: 6 > 7 mana
Thaddius: Remove the Undead tag
Velarok I don't know what nerf I'd like to see for it... I honestly haven't played against it that much given that I exclusively face Druid, Pally and Warrior with maybe a sprinkling of Plaguescavate DK.
I don’t agree with gardens, it is about to rotate and this is like the second chance the card has ever had of being good in almost 2 years.
For velarok he kinda NEEDS charge to work so just make whatever he cheats worse or make him need 2 other class cards.

They can't remove the Undead tag from Thaddius because then they would had to change the art and that's not possible since Thaddius was never not an Undead, he is literally made out of corpses. All the others are possible though.

Zedd please don't jump into group of people who they say that shadowstep need to be nerfed. Imagine rogoue without shadowstep this class probably never will have chance to be competitive. I came back when death knight got added thinking the game might have been fun to try again, but it's just not. I've been let down with duels esports twist and even just the content of standard that I don't even want to spend another second of my time thinking about the meaningless game. I play games for fun, I don't stick around with a game I"m not having fun in when a company is ruining it in an attempt to profit. RIP overwatch hearthstone fortnite and rocket league.
