they gave out marin for free. They gave us quest after quest where we had to play him x amount of times. And now they're saying they're seeing him too much in standard
Sounds about right. Marin is "old product" now. They don't want him to be in every deck now that the next expansion is right around the corner. Hell, the fact that they are making changes people have suggested for 3 months instead of DURING the expansion tells you everything you need to know.
They can't have people playing good decks that don't include latest expansion cards. This patch was more about boosting sales for new expansion than actual healthy balance changes.
I really have a hard time believing we would’ve seen more variety of decks if shaman and death knight didn’t get those buffs. It just would’ve been those classes and the other ones still resorting to the same older stuff
The fact that a good chunk of these are reversions is what baffles. Tsunami going back into its original state is good and Radiant Elemental getting the Sorcerer's Apprentice treatment is a GODSEND. How that thing managed to dodge nerfs for like 7 years is insane!
Oaken summons really is the poster child for “archetype card where the archetype sucked but the card was repurposed for something broken”. In no uncertain terms it lets Druid have 3 chances of drawing a legendary instead of 1. It goes a really long way in actually enabling druids super combos to be consistent and they really should have just banned it in wild. It’s like shadowstep but we pretend to not notice it since it’s all the way back in wild. The mana nerf to Dorian isn’t what is actually going to kill the deck, it’s the fact Dorian is no longer a target for oaken summons. So they have 1 Dorian in their deck instead of 3 now. I hate that we continue to nerf around this fucking old ass card whose downside of having to run few low cost cards is irrelevant bc Druid ramps past earlygame easily.
"The mana nerf to Dorian isn’t what is actually going to kill the deck, it’s the fact Dorian is no longer a target for oaken summons." This is babble because the mana nerf IS what makes it no longer an oaken target lol. That's like saying "I didn't die because I got shot, I died because a bullet entered my brain at a high velocity." There isn't another target for oaken summons that's fast enough, or broken enough, in Wild for Druid to compete with decks that were already better than Dorian Druid either, so I also disagree with your point. While it did probably FEEL bad to lose to it, it had a significantly lower WR than warlock, rogue, priest, and in general most wild aggro strategies, and THATS what makes that format unfun in my opinion. Not the 40% at best highroll memes. My 2 cent. And yes, as far as standard goes, this does kill Dorian for most classes while keeping it an option for druid anyway. I sincerely doubt druid still plays it, but is about the only class who still could.
I'm my opinion, Kobold should *add* legendaries to your hand. It allows you to still use your synergistic cards, but gives you some new resources. It's nearly 2025. Who cares if your opponent gets a full hand reload of random legendaries on turn 8+? You normally have a pretty full hand to begin with 🤷🏻♂️
I disagree. I think the change should be this: Transform your deck into random legendaries. They cost 1(or 2) less. This way, Golden Kobold is a counter to Plagues and TNTs from warrior, and at this point in time, the only counter in standard.
i would love to have a flexible deck building rule between 30 and 40 cards baseline. (32 card deck = 32 starting health), but having the 30/30 or 40/40 rule would also be fine. just something to let me play the cool expensive stuff :(

Being able to make quick changes and then revert or change them even more makes the meta more dynamic and exciting if you don't want quick changes and almost eternal meta go play Wild.
