The lack of blood on the environments after killing or shooting a enemy is really disappointing.
I noticed that too. Gears on the 360 had that, but they do disappear after a minute or so.

This game is so good
I don't know how involved Rod Ferguson was with Gears of War Judgement, but this series looks to be in good hands. I think they've learned their lesson from the previous game and are gonna put out a great game Ocotber 7th, which has a chance to be a game of the year candidate. They seem to have learned from Judgement that you don't fix what ain't broken.

Rod barely contributed to Judgement since he left to work on Bioshock Infinite for Irrational Games but the people who worked on Judgement were not Epic but People Can Fly.
Rod Ferg. and the rest of Epic Games let their People Who Can Fly team make Judgement, which was the exact same dev team whom made that cool-but-meh game Bulletstorm FYI

Better that way instead of muffled ones so Gnasher users don't sneak up on you. Gnashers were very powerful in the beta to begin with.
So you can have a better sense of the people around you. Honestly it helps a LOT when playing.
Plus look at everyone's body build in this game. Surely everyone must be in the 175-200 range on top of carrying around that type of armor.
+mrblackop964 Blacktop nailed it. They also want to convey the sense that these guys carry heavy armor, hence the hunched posture they have when moving. Your footsteps can't sound like flip flops when you are carrying that much armor and weight.
Because the armor they are wearing weigh so much they can't even jump. U expect silent foot steps ?

I played Gears when it came out as a kid. I've slowly moved to the PC market and I am so glad to be able to play it on my PC now. So excited. This looks like a real sequel.
I was kind of hoping this game wouldnt have the goofy player skins a la judgement :/ The aesthetic of gears is such a big part of why I like it, and having neon/gold soldiers all over the place kind of ruins it a bit.

Classic horde or horde 1.0 would be awesome for the die hard fans. Maybe future dlc.

hope they have rewards for gears of war 3 players as they did for gears of war 2 players in gears of war 3.... gears 3 was honestly one of the funnest games i have ever played, split screen, horde, beast, killing brumaks and lambent. killing everything with only the chainsaw........

Coalition is adding new gameplay mechanics perfectly already, they're doing great without Cliff.

AESTHETICS This game has enough innovations though? They already have a ton. Two new races of enemies never before seen in this franchise that make combat diverse and they fight differently from each other, new robotic weapons from the new robotic race, lightning storms that impact single player gameplay involving dodging lightning and freeing environment objects to allow wind to send them flying at enemies. The ability to pull people on the other side of cover over to your side and execute them, adding the vault kick, completely brand new SP story arch involving Marcus's son as the main character and other new characters, wind flares which change the playing field and even affect your weapons. Not to mention Horde 3.0 which adds separate classes and many other new additions never seen in Horde mode to date. I really don't get how this needs more innovation, it's overflowing with it.
+AESTHETICS Judgement bought new innovations and look how people recieved it!
I had such a hard time finishing the Gears 3 campaign because the Horde mode was sooo good I couldn't stop playing it. This looks amazing I can't wait!!

except in horde using gnasher becomes way less viable past wave 30. as for this playthrough this was prime shotgun waves.

I mean i've been a fan of GOW from the first game, but the last great one to me was GOW 2. This game looks good but for real why add robots
Lore
They wanted a second faction to mix things up, and they want the swarm to be a mystery early on in the game so they needed an antagonist to fight. The team didn't want you to kill human enemies, and robot allowed the use of more creative enemy types.
i think the timeline is set 30-50 years after gears 3 so tech. advanced and what not

Why is it the swarm are no different to the locust. The swarm drone is just the locust drone the juvie is just a wretch just seems like the same enemy with horns growing out of them with red skin tones instead of grey. I'm not sold yet it's gonna take more than a new rendition of horde mode. It's halo 4 and 5 all over again the coalition is the new 343 and that is not a good thing.

Okay. I think I'm sold now. The trailer had me confused but seeing it in action I can definitely see this IS Horde mode. Interesting that you don't start seeing the Locusts until wave 5. I like the new enemies.

the truth is this game is very underrated
With 3 gears and Judgment this game is becoming like the Fast And Furious Series, or maybe that's Forza...ha Gears are becoming like Rocky Sequels. This gen is in need of something other than Sequels and Remasters! Bring on the New Flesh!!
Gears 4 is honestly going to be the most under rated game this year.
As a pro GoW Horde player, I saw five major mistakes these players were making:
1. They were not putting power in the Fabricator when they really needed to.
2. They were ignoring downed teammates. You should always try to revive them.
3. They should have set up more fortifications when they could. I know that they're expensive, but they should at least throw down some barriers.
4. They should have upgraded their fortifications more.
5. They should have stuck to cover more than just running into the enemies.
One more thing:
6. They should have used the power weapons on the tougher enemies.

Not be shelling out full price for this but I'll check it out when it inevitably drops to $20. Gears 2 horde holds my heart. Lot of nostalgia there.
Ever since they first announced this gane and showed some gameplay I was very sceptical, especially after judgment. Now it really seems like they been putting a hell lot of an effort on this, I will definitely be getting it

Yep, you sold me on Gears 4, gonna preorder the ultimate edition, im all in looks really good. I wish they would add at somepoint the reverse mode like in gears 3 where you play as the AI, playing as the robots could be really cool.
This is the fourth and now final gameplay video I have seen from IGN.
I just can't take it anymore, watching people who have no idea what a console is from the office to provide playthroughs.
They wander around like headless chickens, don't make full use of the options available to them make every new release look clunky.

They need to add some gore to the robots. Make them spew out oil or something when you shoot them.
I like the robots as enemy concept but like it shouldn't be the main enemy like how in Gow 3 locust and lambent was the enemy but you mainly had locust. What I'm saying is that they shouldn't put too much into the whole robot enemy thing

At the 17:39 mark, another downed teammate and the guy playing Del doesn't even make an attempt to revive. This guy will be the reason why you fail!
Small detail: they made the Hammerburst shoot three-round bursts again :)
The Hammerburst never was 3 round burst, it was 6.
And now even Gears of War gets the full materialistic Call of Duty treatment. So much for that.
I hope the classic hammerburst makes its return in this game
One thing I always wondered about is why does Earth not come to help Sera to fight the Locust?
Having robot enemies will make it feel more fun, and modern.

Pretty much looks and plays exactly like all the other GOW games other then the currant gen footsteps.
The only thing that could make this better is CPU allies, good to fight along side others.
Good to know an assault rifle is still about as effective as a pellet gun.
horde mode is crazy addictive.

So will we finally see two fractions of enemy A.I.s actually fight each other in Horde mode? Not like in Gears 3 where Lambent and Locust just strolled past each other and took cover without noticing they were two feet away from each other?

I wish i could do like Eric Cartman and go into cryosleep for a month, wake up and play Gears 4 all day and all night! But only for a month and not centuries lol
When they first showed robots I raised an eyebrow, never mind, I'm good with it. Besides it makes sense to me. If most of humanity is gone, making robots to fight for you is a good plan. And we know the tech exists because of JACK, so yeah, this is pretty cool.
Are these robots a brand new enemy type? I haven't played Gears of War since part 3.
they're called DeeBees. They're controlled by the news Chairman of the Cog as a military police force, since the human population is so low. People think that they were built by Baird, since with Adam Fenix gone, he's probably the smartest man around. Also, because they sound like Baird when they talk, so it could be his recorded voice.
Looks pretty good. Too bad I don't have a PC to handle this.
