I have the 7600x so I'll either wait for the x3d or wait for zen 6. Whether or not I need to upgrade depends on which GPU I get.
Intels gonna be like nintendo with releasing last gens performance 2-3 generations later 💀
I wouldn't expect this to last. Intel has a huge budget and will figure this out. That said, they did bring alot of this on themselves with anti consumer practices. I really believe if it wasn't for AMD we would all still be on quad core.
550 to 600 usd for 9950x is a steal. That also means 7000 series prices will drop further too. AM5 socket is shaping up to become a monster
When intel gave us 10 cores for 1700 USD, which is now about 2800-3000 USD, who said, it is stealing? I think, noone. So up until a 16 C CPU is under a 1000 USD, what can we say? It is cheap... If e do not have enough money for that, either it is not for us, or get an idea, how to get more money.
Watch AMD is waiting for Arrow Lake to drop and 2 weeks later drop the X3d and crush all intel's hopes and dreams
I’m gonna rock my 5800x3D until I can no longer, these new CPUs are brilliant and I can’t wait for the future models as well
You probably can for a couple or years. Just skip this generation/platform and aim for AM6.
Cheaper than the last launch sounds good to me. I'm still hoping for $249 9600X. Thumbs up!
I had A LOT of issues on my i7 12700k with any overlocking at all. It required me to change 0 settings including XMP. I got it to behave good but I feel like I got railed over buying OC parts but couldn’t do any OC.
I have since changed motherboards and upgraded to a i9 14900k and it has been much much better. I even have an ASUS motherboard. Haha I’ve been happy 6.2GHz on the P-cores.
According to Hardware Unboxed that CPU will be degrading if you continue pushing it that much.
@@nossy232323 I’m ok with that actually. I know and understand the risk of ASUS’s crazy bios. I upgrade my system every 3-4 years and then use those systems for non critical stuff like media stations or purely entertainment. At that time I usually don’t OC them. My main system is my hobby.(money pit) haha.
Aha, well enjoy!! We all know that money pit :-)
With the 9950X without scheduling issues, it will top the 7950x3d as AMD's best balanced cpu for productivity and gaming.
Its ability to squeeze even more performance from OC'ing and faster DDR-5 is an added bonus.
It will still be slower for gaming than the 7800X3D/7950X3D.
@@nossy232323
Wait for the 9950x3d
@@nossy232323Maybe so, but so many people do not want to deal with the 7950x3D scheduling issues.
We'll soon see the realworld differences between it and a 9950X. Particularly with enthusiast motherboards, 7200+ DDR5, and UV/OC'd.
I still imagine the 9950x being the superior balanced cpu.
@@garyb7193 Yeah, I know since I have a 7950X3D. I will (hopefully) be able to replace it with a Zen 6 X3D later. But remember: the performance increase from using faster DDR5 is not as big when using X3D CPU's.
Getting that 16 core soon as i can possibly can its the KING untill zen6 which would be a upgrade for people with Am4 sockets to upgrade into. Also I see Battlemage being the best performer for lower to mid tier cards.
strange upgrade method. Bying Zen 5 and then going to Zen 6
@@rallyscoot im not doing zen6 for the uplift from zen5 wouldnt be a great benifit for me but people still on Am4 would see thier money worth moving into the zen6
Do these Canadian prices include sales tax / VAT?
USD pricing never includes sales tax, so that can be a difference when comparing prices across different regions of the world where it’s standard to include tax/VAT in the list advertised price.
Nope, Canadian prices do not include tax, especially since the tax rates vary from province to province.
They are comparing launch price at canada computers so the same store for the 7950x and its 100 less than that.
Only in Alberta is the provincial tax included in the sticker price. Federal tax is 5%, nothing like the ≈20% VAT in Europe
Itd be cool if it is 600$. But the 9950x will probably be 700$ like usual. Im just hoping we get actual releaee dates, prices and have board manufacturers announce boards and prices sooner then later
Oke is there a gpu (battlemage)
To have a tdp of 60 to 75 watt?
Those battlemage specs can't be right
That would put the 9950x3d to around 1000 Euros !!! ... i'm just waiting for the 7950x3d to drop now even more. Since i have to upgrade from AM4 and Motherboard prices are still a joke, price/performance will be so much better this way than paying the release period tax. And i also don't feel like waiting for another year or two until prices become reasonable.
Here's something to ponder, 3D Vcache should have bigger advantage in Zen5 while normal Zen5 is also cheaper to make than Zen4. It would make sense for AMD to reduce price on vanilla Zen5 while letting 3D cache variants be with higher price. Why 3D cache would have bigger advantage, well the higher IPC at core level can consume data at faster rate, but bigger impact is that previousgen 3D cache had 10% performance penalty from clocks and if that penalty is removed 3D cache should give that much more performance over normal versions.
I'm interested in the non X versions. Low tdp and high efficiency, I don't care for fps in games. It's crazy to me people are willing to pay these launch prices just to get a bit more fps in their favorite videogame.
Plus the non X versions will likely be cheaper as well.
For some games if the lows are better it’s massive difference. MMOs or some sims when there’s a lot of player at the same place and you compete with them. I don’t think it matters at all for single player games as you say.
Me too, and usually, you're limited by GPU anyway. I don't need 400fps in Baldur's Gate
Indeed, especially since adaptive sync helps big time with not noticing small fps differences.
Well, besides being cheaper to make, it's also time to get all those am4 owners to am5 and put some more price heat on Intel...lower prices make so much sense for zen5 in more than 1 way.
Probably gonna wait for Jan ‘25 to commit to anything
$600-700? DIRT CHEAP!
Just about to buy 7800x3d hopefully im doing the right thing :(
That's the same question I asked myself when I bought a 5800x3D back in December of last year I heard from my brother from his sources that am5 is going to be a short lifespan because of the race for AI compared to am4 but we will see
i'm sure you could sell it quite easily once the new x3d chips are released
Just wait for the 9800x3d
And if its not wait till the end of support, and get a new one in.
2 days ago Moore's Law is Dead posted a video detailing alleged price leaks which suggested the 9950X would be $649 USD, which is in the ballpark of what you're suggesting here based on that Canadian source. And while these CPU prices are a bit cheaper than expected, if they're anything to go by for upcoming APU prices they won't be the key to inexpensive mini PCs like so many are hoping -- Strix Point will probably be in $1500 laptops and Strix Halo will probably be in $2500-$3500 laptops.
Given how the 9950X is on average 16% faster than the 7950X, and given how in the US the 7950X can be had for under 500 USD, it basically has to be around 600 USD if AMD wants them to sell.
It's at a minimum 16% faster. Considering it can use faster memory and probably sustain higher boost clocks due to the node I'd bet it'll be 20%+ faster.
I think it also has to do to the fact a lot of us are waiting for the X3D versions.
52% in blender lol almost half the power draw
@@26Guenter What? AMD themselves say in their official slides that the GEOMEAN is 16%. GEOMEAN does not equal MINIMUM.
@@Shieftain IPC isn't total performance.
So BMG-G10 being 40 Xe cores is likely true.
This is gonna be out of stock for weeks.
As long as AM5 motherboards are so poorly priced, this does not matter much to be honest lol
short video 🥺
These Battlemage specs are very disappointing.
Looks like they will be 3 gens behind again.
I think it’s gonna be $649 at most but cool to be $599
9950x3d will be $699, so 9950X will need to be priced under that given the short time between them
why are there no Intel Arrow Lake leaks?
Still too far out.
Arrow Lake is coming out in Q4 (Most likely October). That's why not too many leaks. Not to mention, a lot of ARL info was given during COMPUTEX Lunar Lake presentation.
No one cares enough for Arrow Lake to leak or make up some bs rumor?
because that is further away from launch so less leaks happen
@@auritro3903 Nvidia gpu's also come out in Q4 and there are leaks every other day.
9950X - $599
9900X - $449
9700X - $349
9600X - $249
If AMD did this, they could literally keep this pricing unchanged for easily a year and still sell a crap ton AND have good margins. Kinda no point doing higher prices at first but knowing AMD they have their own weird strategies...
Their weird strategy is to sell at MSRP as long as possible but when releasing a new gen discounting the current gen.
I know, it's really strange, but of course AMD has dominated the CPU market (DIY) with Zen 3 so........ And since AMD is TSMC's main customer on N7 I imagine AMD is getting a REALLY good deal on that process node so it works for AMD, TSMC and consumers. But somehow this affects their sales of newer gen. Yes sure, but I don't think AMD cares because they're making a profit and big sales one way or another.
And that's weird??? It's SO weird that Intel is now copying AMD's strategy.
No x3d chip releases???
Later this year. At least let the vanilla release first
I'm honestly not a big fan of 3D
@@ksenchy Why so? I'm genuinely curious because I'm about to build my first PC
@@Hey1234Hey Should I buy 7950x3d now or wait?
@NINJA_INVESTORS Depends on your use. If it's primarily gaming then the 7800X3D is going to perform better. If it's for heavy computing the 7950X would probably perform better than the X3D version as normal computer programs usually perform better with faster core clocks. If it's gaming and heavy computing perhaps you would be better off with the 9950X as it's faster than the 7950X for normal programs and at least nudges on the 7800X3D gaming performance even if sit still won't reach it. But if you are really looking at spending for the best performance then wait for the 90000 series X3D versions. From what we've been told they should be almost as fast as the X versions but game performance should be a lot higher. At least that's what it looks like right now.
No, it's not a simple Yes/No answer. You have to look at your expectations and match them with the available options and perhaps wait for real benchmarks between the processors you are interested in to see if the upcoming processors will actually perform as the leaks suggest. Who knows perhaps you find out that the Arrowlake processors fit your use case best. but then you would have to wait for them to be released first.
The nasty part is that there will always be better things lurking in the shadows only to be released just as you have bought your new hardware. So get what you need when you need it and be prepared to see better hardware introduced soon after.
and what's up with intel 15th gen? all i can remember from keynote is that it only had laptop CPU talk
laptop E cores are faster and better, P cores are 14% faster, but nothing about new desktop, is it below 14% and they are ashamed to even show that or is it big one to be anounced at a later date? I think the most confusing thing in that keynote was comparing tech names of cores which not everyone needs to know what it corresponds to, so it's was kind of misleading overall
rumor rumor rumor. nothing of value its always the same thing rehashed and resaid. idk why i even subbed.
280W on 32 XE cores is starting to get a little high compared to older rumor of 225W for the 56 XE core version that is canceled? BM is supposed to be a lot more efficient due to die process and silicon optimizations...
mb
Intel structure is more complex. Trying to catch up.
I'm pretty sure it's gonna be 699 for the 9950x, those prices are just too low considering pricing trends though I would LOVE to be proven wrong.
Let me know when AMD has a 16GB/s CPU-chipset link and I'll tell you when I'm interested in upgrading from Zen 3.
don't belive anything intel says. they will be lucky to hit 3070 performance
Honestly im okay with them only competing in the mid-high range as long as the price is reasonable
We need more PCIe lanes so you could have a VR headset run by one GPU per eye. Each GPU could be run by one CCD on 12 core or 16 core CPU.
