This song 🎶 bring back old memories, still listening in 2023 He have a soulful voice! This is my favorite song 🎶 so tell me are you a fan of Ronnie Milsap…?
I’m a 77 yr, young Vietnam vet and I can truthfully say that my generation of the 1950-1960’s were the best years for songs that had meaning and touched your heart.
Friday night dances and sock hops were always the best part of the week.* I could never count the number of times I've danced to "In the Still of the Night." I didn't understand at the time how special it was to grow up in small-town America in that era. Looking back, I can see it clearly. How did I get so fortunate?? *Just need to add that, during the summer, teen night at the pool was right up there with the Friday night dances.
They tell me the same thing. I stayed in the past. I just love the music from back then . Best music ever. I could dance to it all night long but i just could not find someone who felt the same
Music has a beautiful ability to heal and it doesn't matter if that healing is to the mind or spirit. Life can be hard at times. Why not remember try to remember the feelings of long ago..the beginning of all our hopes and dreams. If we are able to lose ourselves for awhile .. remember and feeling can be a blessing. Ill take all the blessings I can get. I don't think everyone will have such memories and to me that's sad. Enjoy your music Jim!
Nothing wrong with that I listen every night I was 13 in 1954 I was in the Vietnam war came home went to college university Oakland 6 yrs then went to work Thor the federal Govt but I kept Ronnie Milsap I am glad GOD gave him a beautiful wife an voice RONNIE WE LOVE YOU MY WIFE AN MYSELF I PRAY YOU LIVE A LONG AN HAPPY LIFE YOU ARS OUR HEROE GB
My friends I live through all of that and then some grew up in New York City in the Bronx in the early 60s life was a lot simpler back then but also a heart at the same time government was not so big then Big Brother wasn't always looking over your shoulder enjoy the memories
This is such a great song. My parents grew up in the 50’s, they don’t stop talking how great it was. Well, I grew up in the 80’s and I feel the same way. Really is a shame today doesn’t have this kind of warmth, this kind of feeling. Best to you all.
My grandparents would tell me so much about the 40's and 50's, just thinking of it and their stories makes me sad, wish they were here, and wish I could've got a glimpse of this. God bless.
Lost both grandparents in 2019 when I was a kid they would dance to this in the living room until my poor grandmas arthritis took over. Such a deep love they had for each other they were married 64 years. What a time, what a love what a life
I'm 71, knocking on 72. You're as young as you think, perhaps not as you feel. When I 1st heard this I thought, WOW! Ronnie nailed this far better than I've ever heard. My kids grew up with this music, the oldest 49, the youngest 39 & all 5 still listen to it. I just passed it on.
I was 12 years old in 1956. I remember when Elvis started. And now He is gone. It just doesn't seem right. The 50s and 60s were the greatest time in history. People trusted each other. You never worried about getting shot on your front porch or at a store. People went out of there way to help each other in the 50s and 60s. People Preach forget about the past and think about the future. I don't want to forget about the past because it was a past worth remembering forever. The future is something to worry about.
Cool cars. Cool haircuts. Cool music. Wailing saxophones. Jerry Lee. Little Richard. James Dean. Dancing. American Bandstand. I'm so damn glad to have been alive at that time.
I was in high school in the 50's . It was the greatest time of my life. Married my High School sweetheart. We were married for 58 years. I miss it all so much.
congratulations on a long and happy marriage. I hope I can meet someone who loves me for who I am. my girlfriend recently broke up with me and is now back with her ex who treats her like crap. I just hope I will find it one day

Love Ronnie Milsap he has such an awesome voice and is true country. I'm 54 yrs old and I grew up listening to Ronnie Milsap and George Jones and the others LOVE the old country
I also saw Ronnie in concert, about three years ago, at a club in Annapolis, Maryland. He was AMAZING!! I'm 67 now, have loved Ronnie Milsap for over 50 years!! And that night, in Annapolis, as I watched Ronnie, so appreciative to be there, as he serenaded us with his incredible voice and sweet, warm heartfelt lyrics, I was truly "Lost in the Fifties" that night!! 🌙 🌉 ❤️
Back in my teen years, I saw Ronnie Milsap in concert. He put on an awesome show, and he has a great sense of humor. I'm 58 now, and remember that concert as though it was yesterday. God Bless you Ronnie Milsap.
Ronnie Milsap sure can sing. Lost in the Fifties Tonight was Milsap's 42nd single to be released. At the same time, it was also his 27th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles. Sad that his Mother did not want her own child because he was born blind and thought God was Punishing her. Thankfully his grandparents took him as their own at the age of one and a half. God had plans for Ronnie who is now 73 years old and is releasing Hymns...God Bless you Ronnie!~
Thank you for sharing this info.I have been searching for this version of the song for a long time. Now I know exactly who sings it and will add it to my playlist.
I shall always be grateful for the generation that I grew up in. Oh, to find that time machine and climb in. Well, I'm outta here people. Heading on back to the 50's where life made sense. You take care.
I’m lost in the 60’s. Would give anything to go back Greatest music decade ever and times so much simpler for a boy raised in a small farm in Missouri.
They don't make songs like this no more. There is no subtly, no substance and no passion. It's just deviance. Real love makes you feel something. And boy does it feel good when you find it. I hope the Young people today can still find true love
Ronnie Milsap is one of the best singers ever, he's my favorite by far... do yourself a favor and binge listen all of his stuff, you'll be glad you did
I actually did sound for one of the song writers to this song before Ronnie released it. Mike Reid use to play pro ball for the Cincinnati Bengals before turning song writer, he showed up early to the sound check and lifted the sound gear on stage before my roadies showed up.. So yeah this song sticks with me as well...
I took my high school sweat heart to a dance at national guard armory and we danced to this very song I was18 she was 17 we married n 65 we just celebrated our 57th anniversary we have 2 children 3 grandchildren 1 great grandson

Those wonderful days of driving to school in your senior year with one the most beautiful girls in the senior class and walking in the main patio with her arm in arm makes up for all the boring times you are now going through as in senior in life.
I grew up in the 90s with hip-hop music. And I just came across this artist on Instagram so I liked the voice and musical arrangement and decided to find him on RUclips. I kinda wish I grew up in this era with this classy music and society with etiquette.
I turned 17 in 1954, my car was not as fancy as the ones shown in this video but it was mine earned through lots of work and not much time for the dances. Loved the music and the slow dances. Joined the U.S. Navy and saw a different world. At 83 Still love the music.
We can go thru the rest of our lives with this one song and only this one song sung so beautifully by Ronnie and be satisfied for our lifetimes. Just an Absolutely Amazing Talent. 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I didn't understand at the time how special it was to grow up in small-town America in that era. Looking back, I can see it clearly. How did I get so fortunate??
A very Happy 79th Birthday Ronnie Lee Milsap. January 16, 1943 Robbinsville, NC. Thanks for all the timeless memories. We hold your songs in our hearts. Many, many more Ronnie Lee..
Its great to hear this music, As many of us older listeners can say, This floods our minds with so many memories. Its wonderful. God Bless all that are here to listen to this magical mans voice
Don't know for sure what it is about this song that brought me here but I sit here listening to it while thinking of my parents. They were married in 1948. My dad passed away in 2002 and my mom was buried today. They were more of your "old school country" kind of folks and my dad loved his bluegrass but my mom really enjoyed Ronnie Milsap's music. I imagine them dancing to this now.
Classics are classics at any age! Thank God I was there in those years! And that some young people today can still see today. Just how great it was back then! Oldies forever!
Born in 1955, so I lived through all the eras of music since then, many historical events as well, I feel lucky for that..... this song epitomises those times...
Remembering the past does Not mean we are living in it. What it Really means is that we have wonderful memories of the Times when we had TIME to really Know what was important in life! Love, tenderness, sharing, dancing close, and valuing what will NEVER happen again. Worlds is going out of control, but we have our GOD, our country, and our family and friends AND Memories.
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan, thank you for your wonderful comments on my post it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music…..
I danced with my first girl with "In the Still of the Night" by the Drifters playing on a 45 rpm record way back in 1963. One of the dreamiest nights of my life.

Born in the late 40's, growing up in the 50's and 60's ... what a time ... we were truly the "cool" era ... would not have had it any other way ...
I didn't understand at the time how special it was to grow up in small-town America in that era. Looking back, I can see it clearly. How did I get so fortunate??
Amen

Joel Shelton Your very blessed. Best time ever. I was born too late.
That is so sweet!

As an "oldie" reminiscing takes me back; that's not living in the past, that is enjoying the memories made ...
