    i liked that you included the shot of the tv being delivered with the kid watching it being brought in. it reminds me of when my dad bought our first new tv. i think it was a 20 inch zennith tv.

      Yeah but when it comes to OLED displays you better have a big wallet if you want to get a 55" don't even get me started on anything above that. I'm 13 btw so I don't have a job to be able to afford this :(

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  7 лет назад +1

      Well, by the time you're old enough to have a job, I'd be surprised if a 55" B-series equivalent OLED still cost over $1000. As OLED matures, and other manufacturers (such as Panasonic) start producing OLED televisions, the prices should start becoming more reasonable.

    Random question but where did you get the "stand" you're using? Looking for a similar setup.

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  7 лет назад

      The wall mount I used is in this video: ruclips.net/video/6L32AB_C6eg/видео.html
      It's basically a flush mount from Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003MIEM8I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      Note that if you need to tilt the TV at all, you will want a different stand. I don't recall off the top of my hand what the screw spacing is. It is listed in the TV's specifications.

      Other than that its $2000 now, no regrets. My wife limited me to 55, so while it would have been nice to get the 65" now for what I originally paid, I'm happy with the 55. I just need to get more HDR material.

  • @Blingnjkbling

    It looks pretty small. Have you ever measured it to make sure it's actually 55inches?

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  7 лет назад +2

      Yup, I've measured it. It's 55". To me, it definitely looks small. I gave up my theater with a 10' wide screen, and got this TV as a consolation. Smaller image, way better picture quality. Definitely a "First World Problem."

  • @benixp
    @benixp 7 лет назад +1

    is it worth it bro whats a quality of picture...can u please tell me cause i am planing to buy on ..thank u

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  7 лет назад +2

      Well, I bought it when it was $3000 and loved it then. Then the price on Amazon dropped to $2,500, and I got a refund for the difference since it was within 30 days, and I still love it. Now it's $1,600 on Amazon. If I thought it was worth $3000 a few months ago, I definitely think it's worth $1600 today.

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  8 лет назад +4

      I played a game several times, and haven't had any issues. One session was 3 hours, and I then checked on a white and black screen, and didn't notice any retention at all. Even if you do get some retention, the TV has a built-in static image removal system that I heard works really well.

    How far are you from the screen? considering this over the 65" to save some money. I'm about 8.5-9 ft away

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  8 лет назад +1

      I'd say 8-12 feet. From that distance, I don't think you'd notice the difference between HD and UHD at 55". At 65", maybe.
      When I game, I sit about 3' from the TV. At that distance, there is a marked difference between 1080p and 4k. Unfortunately, my NVidia 970 can't keep a good framerate at 4K, so I game at 1080. But the amazing contrast (on a whole different level than my IPS monitor) more than makes up for it.

  • @SelfBred
    @SelfBred 8 лет назад

    how does 1080 (cable tv) look with the upscaling? is it worse or better than a normal 1080p tv?

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  8 лет назад +1

      Unless you sit really close, there is not much of a difference in perceivable resolution, as would be the case with any 4K TV. But the added contrast and perfect blacks of the OLED makes most pictures look much better. I say most because if you have a crappy source video, the TV will very faithfully reproduce all the garbage in the signal.

    2 questions. Is the panel glass? How does standard definition look on it up scaled to 1080? Thanks.

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  7 лет назад

      The panel is glass. And standard definition looks good scaled up to 4K. It won't look as clear as a native 1080 or 4K signal, of course, but it still looks pretty good.

    • @SuperRtrtrtr
      @SuperRtrtrtr 7 лет назад

      I appreciate it. Glass screen is so much easier to clean than LCD's. I'm typing this on my 13" 2015 MacBook Pro with Retina display. One of the main reasons I bought it was for the glass screen. Incredibly though, I'm still watching my 27" Samsung Dynaflat CRT. It's 15 years old and still has a great SD picture. My friends think I'm nuts, but I didn't buy Plasma because of burn in issues. My major dilemma is that I have over 4000 SD DVD's in my collection. Some won't upscale on my friends 1080 Panasonic Plasma, some will. After replacing $5000 worth of VHS movies, which I stubbornly won't discard and changed over to DVD, low and behold BluRay came along and I said enough. I need a place to sleep. I was considering getting a $500 Vizio LCD to tide me over but I'll probably get an OLED. Yours looks amazing even through RUclips. Boy, that TV was extremely well packaged. I'm in Canada and we also had a Black Friday deal on your set. It was $2672 on the nose at Best Buy. That's just about $2000 U.S. Needless to say, they sold out online across Canada in 10 minutes. Prices are coming down and LG discounted your TV to an identical price with Best Buy in the states. Anyhow, sorry for talking your ear off. Enjoy your new TV. Hope it gives you as many years of viewing pleasure as I got out of my Samsung CRT.

      50inch looked small in the shop but the 55inch makes up for the lack of trim that you get on most tvs think bezel is nice but on a 50inch it makes I little look small but having 5 inches of bezel is never pretty I rather have 5 inches of extra screen than 5inch especially of bezel

    can you stream stuff from the computer to the TV?

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  7 лет назад

      Yes, I stream from my Windows 10 PC. You just have to install SmartShare (available from LG) on your PC for it to work. Mac Users can install Plex Media Server (also available from LG) to stream. There are also Andriod, iOS, and LInux options. While the TV does see the PC on the network, SmartShare has to be running to stream. Also, it won't stream .iso files. But .mkv files work just fine. Their software can be found here: www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000018-1427120133847

      This does HDR through HDMI. As far as I know, Ultra HD blu-ray players only output via HDMI as component connectors do not support copy protection. However, this TV does have a component connection. It is a single plug on the back, but there is a dongle that breaks out into the red green and blue connections.

      This is the 2016 model OLED TV. It has HDMI 2.2, per the LG website, and it does output true HDR.
      The Samsung UN55KS9000 does have a higher peak brightness, but LG has blacker blacks. In a recent UK shootout:
      www.avsforum.com/lcd-wins-hdr-oled-wins-sdr-vote-in-uk-shootout/
      the participants found that they prefer LCD for HDR content, and OLED for SDR content. Since most content is SDR, the LG is still a great choice. But if you want the best HDR experience, you may prefer LCD... as long as you don't mind giving up perfect blacks.

    It has 3d?

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  6 лет назад

      This particular model does not have 3D. For the 2016LG models, the C series and E series are the sets with 3D.
      For the 2017 lineup, LG completely dropped 3D support from all their televisions. In part because not many people cared about 3D, and in part because there is no 4K 3D standard.

      $2499 is what I paid. Whether or not it is worth it is up to you, but so far I have no regrets. I'll be posting a review hopefully within the next few days.

      Not really... a 65 inch would have been better for our room. But my theater has a 103" screen.

      Family White TV I just wanna make sure I’m not wasting my money you know

    • @FamilyHomeTheater
      @FamilyHomeTheater  4 года назад

      @@jasonbrewer354 One thing you can try in order to visualize how big the screen would be is to get some masking tape and tape two rectangles where you would want the TV. a 55" TV would be a 48" x 27" rectangle. a 65" TV would be a 57" x 32" rectangle. That way you can get a feel for how big it would be, and whether you would be satisfied with it.

    Ese mando tipo mause es una mejora, es aburrido usar el teclado direccional, también tengo un LG LED 49" y es excelente imagen, colores vivos y super nítido, nada que ver con mi anterior Samsung..

    I can't believe it's 55 inch, it looks smaller.
    I have currently 46 inch plasma soon to be replaced by this oled but I'm afraid I won't bang my head why I didn't buy larger tv...

    • @Blingnjkbling
      @Blingnjkbling 7 лет назад

      I just posted the same thing! Not sure why it looks so small, maybe it's because the bezel is so thin? I'm either buying this 55 LG OLED or a 65inch Samsung LED. I'd rather have OLED but may have to get the Samsung just for the screen size.

      It all depends. Is it for your living room or Bedroom? how far are you from the tv when you view it. I have a 55" in my room and my room is not that big and my recliner is 7 feet away so a 55 at that distance is perfect. but if youre viewing it 10+ feet then yes i would go bigger

    Biggest issues with these TVs is that they are absolute crap when it comes to data privacy. If you use a lot of their dedicated LG apps you are giving away a ton of privacy.(plus eavesdropping on you with the built in microphone etc)Do your due diligence before you set it up so you can disengage a lot of the permissions. You won't be using the tv 100% but you will be able to enjoy most of what it has to offer.
