Videos of New Year's coming soon! A bit behind on editing right now! ;-) Glad you enjoyed the bamboo house content. We love it too! Vincent is a shockingly strong boy! Cheers! And best wishes to all your loves ones!
@@offgridislandfamily Aaron, the video's beginning intro (a constant repeat from many other previous videos) almost made me stop and move on to some other video. I was also so irritated with the constant repeat intros that I would not "Like" it and would also consider "Unsubscribe" as well. FORTUNATELY, I allowed a few minutes into the "meat" of the video to see new perspectives on those Kubos of different configurations. Of course, that gave me pause to imagine which "floor plans" to consider most appropriate for my usage. My point is that, in my belief, too much time is spent on each of your videos' "intros" nowadays. I get the whole "Intro" as a "signature" channel stamp, but each of the intro pieces needs to be shortened "drastically." Obviously, this is just my opinion, so take it as a dedicated "Aaron and Jhaja" follower. Your channel is about 100K subscribers! So, you're the channel master. Well done, Sir. Bob (Xavier Koolat)
Yeah...I like the look of the 'native roof', but metal is far more logical. Although, if the solar panels are fitting tightly enough, maybe no need??? HMMMMM!!!!
You could build it out of concrete put lots of open windows and patio for a tiny type house and it will last forever and surface as guest house? Plus bathroom
Not really practical for the Kubo builders, however, soaking the bamboo in a borax solution solves most of the insect infestation issues, ie. powder post beetles and termites.
one thing I forgot, the "stilts" should be a few feet above sea level in case of flooding, lets say your island is 3 feet below sea level, I would take the 3 feet and add another 3.5-4 feet to make it about seven feet high off the ground especially since you said you were close to the beach. If you're not scared of heights 😅 and I know you're not... that's it, purchase kubo (they seem to have jumped a lot in price since i first started looking at them a couple of years ago, get delivered, get stilts prepared with termite shilds while waiting for delivery, move in, enjoy... it's about the experience, not about the stress or concerns. Common sense and a cool head prevails. I mean if I was there I'd purchase one and invite y'all to see what I did to preserve and secure it..may in a few months or whatever I get my cottage sold, we'll see.
I'll have to look into 'termite shields'...first time hearing this. Yes...very good point about sea level. At least 3 feet sounds good with a few steps up. I completely agree regarding the experience factor. Our reason for doing a Kubo is as much for the adventure as it is a temporary house. We could easily build a large shed that could later be used as storage, after the main house it build...but that doesn't sound very fun. Always love learning more about this way of living! Thank you for your informative post!
@@offgridislandfamilyyou're always welcome, I enjoy watching your adventures. Termite shields are nothing more than a square piece of sheet metal that covers the entire top of the pylons with a couple of inches overlap around the perimeter, which is then bent down to prevent the termites from climbing up... thats all it is, but it works great. Good luck whatever y'all decide on..🙏
Good job 👍 keep updates on all this bamboo building furniture costs ! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 prices of scooters trail bikes 500cc what availability of normal products! Those multi cab 🚕 small vans affordable for families etc 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🥳🫡👍👍👍👍👍
Off Grid means no wires, pipes, or gas lines connected to a private or public service provider. Our water is either from rain or well. Power is solar and internet is non-contractual, cell tower data, buy as you go. You pay for the amount of GB you want to use. No contracts, no wires.
@@offgridislandfamily Hi Aaron, I'm using this as a segue to comment on my personal likes as a white Western USA guy's adoration of the typical dreamy island girl of my youthful desires that were never attained. Specifically, the gorgeous contrast of a white bathing suit juxtaposed next to the ever so gorgeous tanned island girl's brown skin, all between 20:14 and 21:34 in this video and against the white sands on the beach. Wish I could be decades younger. Alas.🥴😇 Bob (Xavier Koolat)
Nothing is more beautiful than a silly fun Filipina! ❤ Great Vid!
Amazing all they can do with bamboo.
Thanks for showing us those bamboo houses.
Hope your family had a nice New Year.
Vincent is getting bigger! All the best guys :)

@@RobertTalbot-v3l I will "UNSUBSCRIBE" if he takes the intros OUT!!! There we balance each other out.
looks good my friend
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful craftsmanship
Totally agree! Very cozy feeling.
Wunderbar wie schön dort aus Bambus gebaut wird ❤❤❤
DANKA beacoup! ;-)
So many options. Very difficult decision. I like with metal roof. Maybe concrete pad too. Very nice!

Yes panels and a lot of caulk. No need for metal roof. Maybe us money saved on metal roof for a toilet.
Great idea at the end live on an outrigger yacht part of the year
Yes, I would definitely wrap it with mosquito net & for sure a metal roof ! 👍
Right on!
@@offgridislandfamily Perhaps yearly varnish applications would help prolong the life of the Kubo.
Good for visitors and in-laws. If it lasts for 5 years it's a good investment.
We've had our Kubo 8ft x 8ft , for 7 years now, and we just redid the grass roof and varnished it 3 months ago, cost us PHP 100000
100k?

New bamboo house will be beautiful can’t wait to see it
I can't either! But will have to...hehehe! Cheers Wayne!
for the planned construction of the house add at least 30% extra to whatever they say the cost will be🤣
Cool
0:38 should have been the video thumbnail 🤣
One day their will be a plant that will mould these and built in GRP resins that will last a lifetime.
Thanks for that! I'll look into it...cheers!

PH sellers need to start learning how to put pricing up on things. Nothing has prices, ever.
700.00 USD not bad not bad at all 🤔 🇺🇸 lest than 1 months rent 🤨
Creepy crawly central in the province.
Yep...well, our land near the ocean is actually very flat with only fruit trees. Not a lot of wild, thick vegetation.
Very beautiful💜💜💜💜💜💜💟💟💟💟💟🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Many many thanks
So cute great hair wicked nice teeth, so much energy pretty face
What about epoxy varnish will it stop insects
The guy said 'varnish', but an 'epoxy varnish' sounds very good. Thanks for posting!
I'd like to have one for an escape area to hide, but not sure how it would hold up to the Iowa, USA weather, from one extreme to the other.
I'd want to escape from Iowa :P
Can you treat the wood against the insects ? 🇺🇸(What about electricity) 🧐
Yes, they have a product "solignum" which helps to preserve the bamboo and protects against termites
Off grid? you have the internet, electric, laptops running water. I guess for some, off the grid means no cable tv.
Power Grid, they are solar and you wouldn't be able to comment if they didn't have Internet :P

I'd be putting insulation and under another shed tin roof structure so it's not exposed to elements 🫡🎲❤🥳🤞
