Amen on fixing the mistakes girlfriend! I have only been canning for about 2 1/2 months now, so I still do a LOT of second guessing and double my efforts. Great lesson, and I am glad you showed it. Wonderful channel and I will continue to learn from you. Thanks for sharing this video!

This is still NOT an approved method - learn about the health risks when trying any USDA unapproved canning methods. Botulism and lectin poisoning are serious health issues. Lucky over safe is not the best way to can.

I really enjoyed your video and instruction. One question, how much water goes into the Canner before I process the beans. Thanks

Thanks for watching!! So to answer your question...Canners have specific requirements individual to the canner. But if you don't have your instruction book, then a good rule of thumb is to have enough water that it comes up about 2 inches on the jars. Mine is and all american canner that holds 7 quarts. I put 2 inches of water in the bottom if im running a full canner. I hope this helps.

don't know what you mean by burping the jars, please explain, thank you

She should say de-bubble the jars, which means remove any air pockets, which can affect the headspace size (the space between the contents to the lid). Also, do not use a knife (metal object) to debubble as it can scratch the jar. Use a bamboo skewer or a plastic (debubbler) tool.

Running a knife down the side of the jar to allow the air bubbles to escape. When Canning this is important as trapped air can make you food spoil.

Give it a try! If you use canned beans in your recipes, once you try home canned beans, you will have a hard time opening a tin can after that. Trust me! I learned that and now keep a verity of home canned beans on the shelf. So much better, and no chemicals I cannot pronounce. Not to mention cheaper!!!

Dry canning beans is NOT an approved method as the high lectin content of most beans require them to be overnight soaked AND partially pre-cooked for health reasons.
Congrats to those persons who say they didn't get sick (using the non-approved methods)...I hope your luck continues...but at least warn others that may be new to canning of the reason(s) WHY this method is NOT approved.
