Out of all the people I watch on RUclips, who bass fish, Flukemaster is the one who consistently makes me want to go out and fish. Thanks for all you do, Gene!
I fish a lake like this all of the time. Not many people do fish it, because its "too weedy!" I love it! Froggin and a chatterbait has been deadly for me this year! Great video Gene!
Did not believe I needed 50-65 pound braid until I had 2 giants break off while i was frog fishing with 20 pound braid. I learned the hard way. U truelly need that heavy braid
Logan is my home lake, but I've cruised up to Big G four or five times to give that grass a go in the kayak. I just can't wrap my head around it. But, this makes me want to give it another go. Funny thing...was launching in a kayak tourney. Three off us off the same ramp. We get about 100 yards off the ramp and some old coot (we left at the pier near the ramp) drug one of those huge Guntersville hogs to the pier. My biggest that day was a 14" fish.
Gene I know this is an older video but it related to my latest fishing issue. I went to Guntersville for the first time last week. OMG was there grass. I’ve been watching videos for months now (kinda new at serious fishing) and heard over and over about how to fish grass. Until Guntersville it really hasn’t related to where I’ve gone before. All that for this question-Could you do a video on identifying the types of grass and what to do with the different types? You identified hydrilla in this video and I saw all of that I needed on Guntersville. Thanks if you don’t answer here I’ll catch you on your Friday night live.
I have tried twice and failed. Got 4 blow ups but no hook ups. I have a lake with 20 feet of mats along the shore and then it gets deep 20 feet or so. Couldn't find the fish in the area i could Travel in about 7-8 hours.
I was on Guntersville last week and couldn't buy a frog bite or any bite for that matter it was definitely a bad first trip to Guntersville. found a few small ones on a chatter bait and a spinner bait
Urban Redneck Outdoors Kinda glad to hear you say chic wasn’t fishing any better I drove by chic to get to Guntersville and been questioning my decision since we got home. All my buddies have been telling me I went to the wrong lake.
I have driven past that lake in my 30+ years of trucking. And live not too far away now in Ft Payne. I was used to fishing Lake Weiss where we lived near for 30 years. I have often wondered how the fish survive under that cover. And was even more concerned about bringing my bass boat over the mountain to fish there without cloggying the engine some way.
@9:30 what to do if you're on the bank side of that same type of grass and ditch area? How to fish it when you have 20ft of surface algae you gotta drag you're lure through every time you cast out from the bank?
When your in that thick stuff what lb fluro do you use when using a spinnerbait or chatterbait and be confident its not gonna break if you bring in grass with your fish?
thanks! so could you do a video thats similar but when its too cold for topwater or fishing mud bottoms? thats my weakness and i'd like some clarity on it. thanks again for your helpful videos!
Hey dude, wanted to say thanks for your channel! It inspired me to create a fishing show out here in LA called Whatever Bites. I’d love if you checked it out on my channel. You’re a huge influence to my show brother, keep it up!
Lane Seaman I’m sure you can throw a frog out there in veg. But banks usually don’t have ruff vegetation. Ponds however might. But, he gives techniques on how to find fish in veg on a big lake. How do I know it’s the same for a shallow pond?
Sgt Cude check out the yolotek poles that plug in to your anchor or navigation lights. They have charge ports that keep your battery going all day. They’re not tall enough for a shot from up hi but they give a good angle
A tinkle frog? Look at all that green on deck! Hey Gene, I've been having issues with every hollow body frog that I've bought recently just sucking up water on every cast. What can I do? I've bought Spro, Strike King, Booyah, etc. And mid retrieve they start sinking.
Fluke you may not believe this but 2 weeks ago my reel screwed me and didn't lock and I could reel backwards and forwards and I got a new reel 1 week after that and today I was able to fish it and it screwed me over again. Same issue as the last. What do I do?
Weedless lure choices obviously. Spinner baits, weedless rigged soft plastics rigged weightless or very low weight, chatterbaits, weedless swimbaits... long list of stuff that'll run through pretty decent. If they get a little snagged you just pop it loose, NOT yank on it. Up your line lb test. If you aint getting snagged you aint fishing and if you're getting snagged you're fishin the right spot.
Connecticut water temp 54 degrees and air temp 42 degrees grass dying off where do you look???????? Isolunar last Thursday a four fish day and fished prime time not even one hit. deep or shallow could not find. Very frustrating.
Fished yesterday 52 degrees weeds dying pulling oxygen out of water search shore with fast breaks that had some wind found bait balls 14ft down over 22ft deep trolled shad rap like baits and caught everything from gills to smallies to largies ..crappies for an hour till huge storm pushed us out and home
Hey Gene I know you fish out of a kayak as well as your boat and was wondering would you fish the same area the same way if you only had your kayak instead of the glitter boat? I only fish out of a kayak as I don't have any more power boats sold them all.
Ive been dealing with some personal stuff over the past month or so. Please don’t forget that I have a life and adult responsibilities outside of fishing.
@@Flukemaster I get that, and I'm sorry I got frustrated. Like most I don't know your personally life, and didn't take that into consideration. I hope all is well with you and works out in the future.
You are throwing a bait that every Joe is throwing..Referring to the 🐸...You need need to change up, maybe a swimming worm..or start punching..BIG LIZARD..

Gene...glad to see you going back to “teaching the world to fish”!
My wife got me that shirt for my birthday! ....with matching belly....
SGT Hulka 😂
Yes! New Video! Thanks Flukemaster for all the time you dedicate to helping other.
Did not believe I needed 50-65 pound braid until I had 2 giants break off while i was frog fishing with 20 pound braid. I learned the hard way. U truelly need that heavy braid
Same boat, figured out the poundage isn't for the fish it's for that 20lbs of gunk that comes with them!

Could you add a camera view of the action of the frog. A small camera image in the corner of the primary camera that follows the lure movement?

Do this fishing from a Kayak while sitting.
I do and I Love It!

That's the only thing I do from spring to fall. Gotta make sure u got good leverage like he said
Great info Gene. What about bluebird skies? I've never had much luck fishing a surface lure on sunny days.
Grass bite is on and off this year on chickamauga. Glad you finally got some fishing video up.
I miss these types of videos from you Gene keep up the good work
THIS IS THE VIDEO I NEEDED! Got a deep veggie PACKED mineral spring fed lake I cannot catch a cold on.
I like that shirt you're wearing! Great info as always buddy.
I was on Guntersville last week and couldn't buy a frog bite or any bite for that matter it was definitely a bad first trip to Guntersville. found a few small ones on a chatter bait and a spinner bait
WVFishin I was on Chickamauga for a regional and last week and didn’t even get a blow up. It was fishing tough.
Urban Redneck Outdoors Kinda glad to hear you say chic wasn’t fishing any better I drove by chic to get to Guntersville and been questioning my decision since we got home. All my buddies have been telling me I went to the wrong lake.
One of your best video's ever! I learned a lot about an area of fishing that I have not had much success, thanks for the hard work with this Vid!

Gene we actually live close to each other. What would it take to win a fishing trip with you?
My ponds in my backyard are super small and covered in weeds. Don't know if my frog will work

Man I would love to be down there froggin with ya.
I just figured out you aren't the same person. LOL JK
Unicorn Steaks Lol yeah I’m much better looking. Hahahaha

Okay then! Missed ur fishing videos!
Nice video my lake is like that very heavy weeded what size bait cast reel holds 50 lb brade line numbers to tell 14 lb mono or higher
What color frog do you recomend on hot sunny days?
Love the new shirt, so you have them hooded?

Would the same techniques apply if I'm fishing from the bank.
CHRISTIAN BYERS I doubt it. I wish he would do more technique videos on banks or ponds.
@@megancooper3241 me too that would be great.

You are a brave for wearing that hat in Alabama lol
Go dawgs!
where did you get the camera pole for the back set hole I need one for my camera ?
Sgt Cude yolotek.com
Sgt Cude check out the yolotek poles that plug in to your anchor or navigation lights. They have charge ports that keep your battery going all day. They’re not tall enough for a shot from up hi but they give a good angle
Sgt Cude I bought a small 3 way that has a tripod attachment that I shoot video with when at home or use the Yolotek or a chest mount on the boat
Bassin behind enemy lines eh? 😁
A tinkle frog?
Look at all that green on deck!
Hey Gene, I've been having issues with every hollow body frog that I've bought recently just sucking up water on every cast. What can I do? I've bought Spro, Strike King, Booyah, etc. And mid retrieve they start sinking.
Exchange them until you get a good one. Imo about 25% of frogs come out of the package messed up.
Is this the same for winter time
What type of grass is that? Is it all Hydrilla?
Fluke you may not believe this but 2 weeks ago my reel screwed me and didn't lock and I could reel backwards and forwards and I got a new reel 1 week after that and today I was able to fish it and it screwed me over again. Same issue as the last. What do I do?
What reel. To frog fish you gotta buy some expensive/high end reels?
Thanks for this video, it gave me some insight when looking at grass mats. I appreciate all you do to help us learn more about fishing. God Bless!
Great vid. and Go Dawgs!
The way you are retrieving...is the frog really walking? Looks like your reeling and move your rod...what is the frog doing?
mike moultrup go to 7:03. He tells everyone why he isn’t walking it
Its called reeling in slack plus the wind blows the frog around so it makes more slack
I’m dragging the frog across the mat. It’s impossible to walk a frog on a grass mat.
Does this still work in a pond where the bass only eat Panfish exclusively?
Yes
How do the fishermen in the videos never snag a bunch of grass
Weedless lure choices obviously. Spinner baits, weedless rigged soft plastics rigged weightless or very low weight, chatterbaits, weedless swimbaits... long list of stuff that'll run through pretty decent. If they get a little snagged you just pop it loose, NOT yank on it. Up your line lb test. If you aint getting snagged you aint fishing and if you're getting snagged you're fishin the right spot.
What glasses do you use
Very well explained
Saw your truck at the ramp when I guess you was filming this. I got skunked lol.

It’s an Anglr Bullseye. Check out the link in the description.
Would u go diving in the weeds
Yes
@@Flukemaster really do a video on it
What's the temp like there?
What kind of boat is that?
It’s an Alumacraft Pro 185
so many great tips, quality video

Connecticut water temp 54 degrees and air temp 42 degrees grass dying off where do you look???????? Isolunar last Thursday a four fish day and fished prime time not even one hit. deep or shallow could not find. Very frustrating.
I'm wondering the same about Nebraska - water temp mostly in the mid 50s, air temp jerks between 70 one day and 40 the next
You need to be looking somewhere further south like, say, Florida. You'll find them there. ;)
Hey Gene I know you fish out of a kayak as well as your boat and was wondering would you fish the same area the same way if you only had your kayak instead of the glitter boat? I only fish out of a kayak as I don't have any more power boats sold them all.
I'm way more methodical with a kayak
I don't remember the last time I saw you catch a fish. All you do anymore is Friday night live. Wish you for more stuff like in years passed.
Ive been dealing with some personal stuff over the past month or so. Please don’t forget that I have a life and adult responsibilities outside of fishing.

OK, not just me, I could find them at edge of grass, but they would not bite... I'll be back.
Pop uh pop uh pop pop pop
I have never seen you catch a fish.
Because I don’t know how.

Bro throw a spinnerbait
Watched this whole video about how to catch bass and dude never caught one.
