      ♫♪♫ Hi Lonny ♫♪♫
As mortifying as your guitar stories are to you... it is definitely meant to be YOURS cuz it came back to you twice... and like you, it has character... and like you, it could never be boring... just saying
I am going to tell you my story though this is not an object I hold dear to my heart it sure is a CRAZY story!!! In 2008 all my ID was stolen in another city and I reported it to the rcmp there... (had it all replaced)... 2018 I get a call on my voice mail to contact rcmp at this #... I had no clue what for so I called and they had my birth certificate!!! To which I could pick up in that city... at that time I had no way to get there so I arranged it for them to get it to my city rcmp so I could pick it up... wow 10 years later can you believe that!!!... I can't help but wonder what it's story is!?!...Pretty crazy huh Hahaha

This is going to be a bit of a long one
I think my most treasured possessions actually all have something to do with BVB for different reasons. I think my most treasured possession is a frame with 4 guitar picks from bvb 2 signed posters, and my wristband from a bvb show. I have quite a few guitar picks from various bands but bvb is definitely the most special to me. I got to do vip with bvb for my 13th birthday at one of the Roxy shows (you weren’t in the band yet but I hope to meet you at some point in the future!). Andy complimented my brand new leather jacket and I told him it was a birthday gift for the show and that it was my birthday. I was very shy and quiet so I think only Jake and Andy heard me and they said happy birthday and i was so excited. I managed to get front row and about three songs in Andy came by and crouched down and sang to me. He held my hand over 10 times during the set and sang to me a few times. Jinxx gave me two guitar picks and Jake also gave me two at that show. It was the first time I have ever gotten a guitar pick at a show and I was stoked. I think at one point Jinxx tried to get me to touch the fretboard of his guitar but I was too anxious and kept shaking my head but he let everyone around me do it and I ended up being comfortable enough to touch his guitar. He pointed at the whammy bar and started having me do the whammy bar parts, at the time I was so anxious that I was messing everything up but looking back I don’t think he cared if I messed up the song. It was the first time I felt a real connection with a band at a show. I found some photos from that night online and there’s a couple of Andy holding my hand and there’s even a couple of just me in the crowd. My dad was with me and got some really cool photos too, a couple years later and it’s still the most memorable concert I’ve been too, definitely a 1 in a million story.

I just want to say, thank you for being so wholesome. It's honestly kind of refreshing. I basically grew up with BVB and I remember watching countless interviews where the members were drunk off their ass, or trying to get laid, or something to that end. Don't get me wrong those interviews were funny at the time(especially the Bryan stars ones). But uh I have since grown up, and I no longer find that sorta thing as amusing as I used to. Anyway, my point is, even if I wasn't a fan of BVB, I would still watch your RUclips videos because you have a genuine passion for what you're doing and it shows, also again you just seem so wholesome. I have a lot of things that I own specifically because they are sentimental to me, but one thing comes to mind that's my most sentimental item-a heart necklace charm. So a little backstory on this charm: my family lives very far away from me and I only get to see them about once a year. The heart charm was a gift from my grandmother that says "A mother holds her daughter's heart forever"(which both represents my mom and my grandma). And m grandma used to have this insane jewelry collection, and she never wore much of it, so every year I went to visit her she would let me go through it and pick some stuff I liked, and the last time I actually got to see her I picked out this heart charm to keep. And now I wear it everyday to remind me of her. ❤️

Ok this is about to be a very long comment! As you know me way to well with that stuff!
First off that Gibson is gorgeous that clearly is a given! Secondly nothing is better than having a professional instrument I got my first trombone as a gift from my parents at the beginning of my Sophomore year so almost two years ago and it is my closed wrap one and I remember my dad finding it because I really wanted one in silver and that is just very unheard of so when my dad found it I was so excited and we found and I was able to play on it like a week before we left with my band on our Europe tour we did! Thirdly that story about how your Gibson broke literally broke my heart! I actually have a similar story so last year for Christmas my parents surprised me with my second silver professional trombone this one is an open wrap and this is my marching band and pep band one my closed wrap I use for regular band and for jazz so you will actually see my open wrapped one in my whole audition video! But anyways so Fed X who was the company that shipped my open wrapped one did not clearly handle it with care and so the box was all ripped and crinkled! Then we open it and the leather case that the trombone sits in has a huge crack and pushed in so when I opened it I saw the bell was a bit bent which broke my heart that they treated such a beautiful instrument with such carelessness! So anyways I was like whatever we can get the bell re shaped later it still looks pretty much the same just a slight bent in the bell! So as excited as I was getting it I immediately take it to school to play on it because that is just what you do when you get a new instrument or toy as I would like to call them lol! So then like a week after getting it I am in band class in the middle of a piece and go to use the trigger and then all of a sudden the whole trigger comes unsoldered off if the trombone! I was so heartbroken and somewhat mad the whole day and so when I brought it home so I could bring my other professional trombone back to school as I told my parents what happened I literally broke down in tears at how sad I was! Lucky we found this guy who completely redoes instruments and so not only did he fix the bell but then we were able to get the trigger resoldered back on however instead of getting the original trigger system that Bach does with these trombones this guy asked if I wanted him to do his custom trigger system that makes the whole trigger system quieter and a lot smoother so of course I said yess and honestly even though it still breaks my heart to this day thinking about it being broken I love the new custom trigger and wouldn’t change it for the world! I also now have a new black case because of how bad the old case was unfortunately! But yeah I completely understand being heartbroken over those kinds of stuff! Fourthly to me personally all the little dings and scratches on my two trombones yes it kinda sucks but it gives them character and I can still remember stories from each one and how it happened so to me it also shows that both of them are well loved and that they are being played and not just on some collector’s shelf collecting dust! Fifth I do agree I say this to my friends all the time my trombones are honestly my babies they have been through a lot with me and I love them they are beautiful pieces of art that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world and it is really cool to see that you agree! Just this summer I made the decision to give my student trombone that I was using as my marching band and pep band trombone up until this year to my high school band program because then I know someone can use it and fall in love with the instrument as I have! It is also quite funny because I tell people this all the time not only did the band life choose me but I definitely feel in my heart that the trombone choose me! But yeah amazing stories thanks for sharing them because as I know with those kind of things it can be very hard! Your amazing Lonny thank you so much for all the support you are giving me! And thank you so much for being such a huge inspiration and someone I look up to and you and the rest of the band being my heroes! I have will have the audition video to you whenever I am fully done and edited with it but thank you again for actually going to take the time out of your day to watch it and give me feedback! Band as you can clearly see is so important to me and will forever be a part of my life and having one of my heroes actually going to watch my whole audition video means the literal world to me Lonny thank you so much! Hope your doing great and I literally can’t wait for the new album!!

I have a vintage acoustic Yamaha guitar that my mom gave me. It was hers since she was (I wanna say )21-ish if memory serves. That's way back in the day (the early 1970s way before I was born). Anyhow, she gave it to me after getting a new one in 2000. She's had it for as long as I can remember and would play folk songs on it (songs ranging from Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff to songs by Bob Dylan). I started getting interested in it because I've been a Goo Goo Dolls fan since their first album came out back in 1989 and so when I got her guitar, I immediately gave it a name (It didn't have one before). I have named it Iris, after my favorite Goo Goo Dolls song. Johnny Rzeznik is my inspiration for starting to learn the guitar. 🎸

The thing I hold near and dear to my heart is all my guitars I love them all they are all special to me. One of My favorite guitars that I treasure most is my 1996 American made Paul reed smith. The Paul reed smith is special because it is only one year younger than me which is really cool and it sounds amazing and I actually got it for a birthday present a few years ago. OMG what amazing stories! I did not imagine that a guitar could be fixed, being very damaged, I was quite surprised, I love your old photos when you share them !! Your cool hair in those photos! One question, how long does it take to leave it like this without curls? Does your wife help you with your hair? (I also have it like this, it's actually a big problem for me haha), I know that instruments are loved with the soul and are very precious, I don't know if it serves to say what is most precious to me but it also has to do with music .. I have been a dancer for years I had a disease in my hip (from the same dance) the doctor literally left me prostrate without being able to walk anymore, he said .. Resumo I was disabled. ... my husband looked everywhere for a solution until he got it. (while I was dying for not being able to dance and walk💔) at the end and after a long, hard and painful treatment on the spine I managed to walk again it was the happiest day of my life because they gave me my whole life vida !! .. so for me .. it can be said that my feet, my hands and everything else is what I appreciate the most since the day I walked and danced again was incredible! 💗 because for me music is life, and without she would not be the same to live! ... something I love BVB! They are my great motivators ... you too of course and that you came to the group, you made a great and very positive change! and you filled everything with energy! ❤ .. thanks for sharing this .. thanks for letting us share our stuff! you are amazing lonny!🦅👏👏

Great video Lonny! That's one of the nicest tops I've ever seen on a Studio Les Paul for sure. I have a guitar that's sentimental to me as well. It's a 97 Japanese Jackson Randy Rhoads V. It was my first real guitar and my dad and I, loaded a full size drum kit in a Gio Metro car (Basically a pop can with wheels) and took it to the store to trade. The owner couldn't believe that we fit the whole thing in that little car, haha! I put a lot of play time on that thing. My dad and I always joked about that guitar from time to time, how we loaded that car up to go get it. My dad recently passed so that made that guitar that much more special. I haven't played it in years, as it needs fret work. I now have the skills to fix it, so I need to get on it soon. And restore it to it's former glory. I think you should go thru all your guitars with videos like this. Very cool to see and hear the stories about them!

I actually baught my first Les Paul about a month before Covid really hit. The guitar that I had beforehand was giving me some troubles (the frets weren’t even on the underside, and they tore up the inside of my finger) so I started looking for a better guitar. I didn’t have verymuch money, so I was looking for something second hand on Facebook. While I was on vacation in Mexico, I had found an add (where I live) for a 60’s tribute Gibson Les Paul for $800. The day after I got home, I contacted the guy, we arranged a meeting, and next thing I knew, I had just baught a Gibson Les Paul for $700. Throughout quarantine I’ve played it so much, I feel like I’ve had it for more than just a year (maybe two). That guitar is definetely one of my most valuable possesions.

I just love his style he inspired me to play an instrument. Oh, and also my ukulele.

Also Lonny I forgot to tell you because my week has been a bit crazy because finals are next week! But on Thursday for band class my director did a private concert of some of his favorite chamber groups performances and the duet I did with my private tutor and worked really hard on was one of his favorites and then he commented to the whole class as mine started that it is a great example on how to spice up any audition because the duet was for an Etude that we use a lot for both our band auditions but also for our state band auditions! And then he told me that I did an amazing job and that it sounded amazing! I can’t thank you enough for how supportive you and how much that means to me because I know I would have never had the courage enough to send it in to be considered and the amount of support you are constantly giving me helped me to gain that courage to do something that I would have never done or even considered doing and would have really regret it so much if I hadn’t submitted it! Well. My dad (he’s currently 55) has been playing guitar for about 45 years (started when he was 10) so when I was 10 he started showing me how to play guitar and I picked up on it fairly quickly. Like before I was born my dad bought me a mini guitar but again it wasn’t till I was 10 till I really started learn annnnnnd my first guitar was a black and white fender strat then next was the sunburst les Paul I previously stated in another comment, and my last guitar I got was a black and white Jackson Randy Rhodes Flying V :) I’ve played small gigs at local bars/saloons by our house and in 6th grade I used to play in front of the entire 6th grade every Friday morning with 2 qsc (I forgot how many watts but it was like a little over 2000) speakers and a fractal axe fx 2. I’ve taken a long break and getting other things done lately I haven’t really had the time to pick it back up but the last time I did (a couple months ago) was an amazing feeling. Now as for my dad he’s been collaborating with his old best friend who lives up in Austin (while we live in Houston) and doing increeedible rush covers and now my dad wants me to do vocals for the fall out boy cover they already have the tracks down on (it’s sugar we’re going down) and my dad wants to do gold fingers cover of 99 Luftballons cuz I can speak German without a problem 😂 but yeah my dad still plays and ig that’s our story.

I have a Camaro that I have purchased three times in my life. It was the first car I ever bought with my own money and I drove her for years until my father told me to get rid of the hot rod and buy something sensible. I did so, but then when I saw her the next year she had been trashed, so I bought her back and began to rebuild her. Then I met and married my husband and he said oh no this isn't happening, and he talked me into selling her. 21 years later I repurchased her, brought her home and he and I combined our dreams and built her from the ground up. She is never going to be sold again. She is my first love. She is burgundy metallic and has always been known as Gypsy, but lately she is considering being reborn as Scarlett........

That is one smooth sounding guitar. 🎸 I thought the name of the guitar sounded familiar so I did a quick search. One of the most legendary guitarists of all time Slash of Guns N' Roses uses a Gibson Les Paul. Coincidentally, your hair in your younger photos looks like Slash. The object that I hold dear is an Avenged Sevenfold hoodie that I purchased the first time I seen them in concert. That hoodie has bleach stains and holes in it, and it has shrunk over time but it is still my most prized possession. 🖤😊

    • @LonnyEagletonMusic
      @LonnyEagletonMusic  3 года назад +3

Yes! Slash is one of the main reasons why I wanted to play a Les Paul. Him and Jimmy Page were big inspirations for me.
That hoodie sounds awesome, and it sounds like you’ve been through a lot together too. I’ve only ever seen A7X play one show, it was on the Nightmare tour with Mike Portnoy. I hope to see them again some day. One of my favorite bands easily.

The first time was on the Cities of Evil tour in 2005. That's where I got the hoodie. They always put on a killer show! I think merchandise purchased at a concert holds more sentimental value than something just purchased online. It's nice to have the ability to say, I remember when I bought this at this show.
