I’ve always had gas but keeping it clean drives me crazy!! Also, I think it looks older and I have been known to leave it on 😮. I swapped it for an induction for this reason and would never go back. It’s so easy to clean, saves me so much time in the day. I also can’t leave it on 😂, so win win! It would be great for you with the boys getting older and starting to cook themselves, safer.
I was told to go for a Neff!

5 years ago when we moved in to our new home, it needed a new kitchen. We went to Wren, who were great, and we got the kitchen we have always wanted. To rip out the old kitchen and install the new one took a week, but every one who sees it tells us how nice it is, it's only small so has to function very efficiently, which I'm delighted to say, it does. Have fun choosing your new kitchen, it pays to take your time given how much use it will get and time you will spend in there. If extractors are a problem, have a look at the Bora range, a very different concept. On a lighter note, great to see that you have got over the bug that laid you low in America.

Hi guys I have been fitting kitchens for over 30 years from most if not all suppliers but when
I fitted my own kitchen last year I picked Kutchenhaus which were brilliant, making bespoke units when required. They are brilliant, but that’s just my opinion. Good luck

Check out a video “2024 UK Kitchen Comparison from Nick Morris a builder who assembles an identical layout from Howdens, Wren, Magnet, Wickes and DIY Kitchens, the latter who have a massive showrooms in South Kirkby and a brilliant website. Also, all the units come ready made up from their factory, so no flat packs. I think you’ll find the video very interesting. Diann x

We have such a pokey kitchen that the first thing I did when we moved in was to fill it with storage. I bought a load of ikea and am frankly surprised it's still standing 15 years later as I put it all together myself.

Make sure you have easy access to all the relevant isolation points, so many don’t think about this and then when you need to get to them you either don’t know where they are, or discover they are hidden behind panels at the back of cupboards.

I love our induction. Takes a bit of getting used to, but once you've switched, it's hard to go back. Also, the flat profile is wonderful.
We moved last year, and the new house had gas, but we only put up with that for a few weeks and installed induction!!!
Also, our new house has a Wren kitchen. It's pretty good.
    Will watch with interest!! 😊

Hey guys. My opinion is induction all day long!
I used to work for a kitchen company and was blown away by induction. But my wife who loves cooking refused to move away from gas. Sooo whilst she was at work I swapped the gas hob for induction 🫣 haha
She loved it 🥳 it’s just as controllable as gas but cleaner and safer. 10 years on and she now hates cooking on gas 😆
Yes you may need to change some of your pans but in the grand scale of kitchen cost they are peanuts. Just take a magnet to the base of your pans, if they stick they will work and the thicker base the better 👍🏼

We put a kitchen in our new house a year ago. We put most of our budget into exceptionally good appliances and the cupboards are pretty much run of the mill, we do have really long deep and shallow drawers which are brilliant. Recycling pull out bins ,excellent but you don't want your outside bin too far away. We went for a medium range worktop, we're always cooking so things can get easily damaged so decided it would be easier to replace ( we can do this ourselves, in fact we built the whole house ). We had a big range in the last house now we've got induction and love it ( nothing has got hot in the drawer underneath. Our extraction thingy is invisible, maybe not as powerful but we've installed a powerful air extraction system in the roof space ( does bathrooms as well as kitchen. Conclusion, we love it 😊

We have Wren units, we had to have the whole thing replaced as the doors delaminated. We’ve since had to have 2 further doors replaced. I have 2 eye level single ovens they are absolutely the best. Don't be worried about the change from gas to induction, the induction is just as responsive as the gas but with much cleaner lines. I made the switch about 6yrs ago and would never go back.
The only thing I would change about our motorhome would be the gas hob I'd love an induction

@Radfords - A lot better control. Gets food really hot quickly. I loved cooking with gas, but this is far better. So easy to clean too. Only downside l would say is it can scratch. Checking pans haven't anything under them. There are covers, magnetic ones you can place on top. to protect the surface & stop pans slipping. We are just going to order one for ours.

We have an island kitchen and if we did it again we would have a downdraught extraction. It is now down to 'reasonably expensive' as opposed to "how f88king much" 15 years ago. We have had induction for 15 years and would not go back to gas. Far to slow. Be aware of the heat that induction can give off below the hob. Oh, definitely shop around for your appliances and worktops. Ma77et was 4 x the price of the granite we eventually went for. BuildBase is good for quality.

Its very daunting, I still can't decide which to go for now and so waiting until I can convince myself which to do first, bathroom or Kitchen ? All on hold now as the daughter has decided to get married next year ! Oh also we had a Wren kitchen and it was a nightmare from start to finish. I do not recommend them at all. Shop staff, design, surveyor etc..all amazing, but it all goes down hill from delivery onwards. So much of the kitchen arrived damaged, we had to wait weeks for replacements. The fitter was a horrid man and he forged my husband’s signature to sign the job off when we weren’t happy with it ( he wanted his money from Wren and knew we wouldn’t sign it off so he tricked us by saying we had to sign his overtime sheet, then he used the signature to sign the work off!!) We ended up with the South East Customer Service Manager at our house to inspect the kitchen as he it was such a bad job. I cried buckets over that kitchen and although it was alright in the end, it took over 8 months and it really took the shine off of it all. I would never ever use them again.
