I’m so sick of the ESECPN network Notre Dame could beat any of those SEC teams, GA is not as good as they record they could easily have 4 loses as well Paul
Will they dare change their tune about ND if T A&M wins in their opinion the best conference championship(sec) then by that metric ND should be a 5 seed since they beat T A&M
Seriously guys you want to know why Georgia isn't ranked higher, well its simple they lost twice to teams that were ranked lower than them. Penn State "should" have played 4 ranked teams this year. USC, and Washington ended up being much weaker than they usually are. USC and Washington (who almost won the national title last year) are usually ranked within the top 25. Who could have known they would both be as weak as they are this year. On paper Penn State had a good schedule. Now comparing them to Georgia is tough because Georgia did play more ranked teams, however Penn State lost to then #4 Ohio State by 7, and Georgia lost to then #4 Alabama by 7, which are comparable losses. Georgia also lost to then #16 Old Miss by 18, whereas Penn State beat then #19 Illinois by 14, which by ranking (when played) are also comparable games. The reason why Georgia isn't ranked higher is because Georgia lost more games and those losses are comparable to Penn State's games but Penn State only lost once. As far as Indiana goes, they have taken advantage of a weak schedule but they won't be a repeat of the humiliation FSU was last year. If Indiana is actually good and deserving of their rank then they will be able to go toe to toe with Ohio State this Saturday and keep it a one score game (Or possibly beat Ohio). If however they are "stomped" by Ohio State then they will more than likely fall well out of the playoff picture. I'm not going to touch the other ranked teams (#1-9), however Georgia has no one to blame for their ranking other than themselves. They were highly ranked at the beginning of the season and the only reason they fell to #10 is because they lost games they were favored to win to teams who were then ranked lower than they were. That doesn't mean that they aren't a great team, of course they are but the ranking are due to the games they lost. With that said, I truly believe that these "talking heads" would only be happy if the only teams that ever made the playoffs were all from the SEC.
Speaking of Notre Dame. They get penalized right off the bat for not playing a conference championship game. They would get held out of the playoff spots until all games are played in my rankings. They don’t get rewarded for playing less games.
@ the caveat was wait until all games have been played. Then you can put them in where they fit. I wasn’t advocating for keeping them out altogether. The early weekly rankings don’t make much sense with the way the playoff works. It should just be one final one that sets the field. ESPN will and currently is getting accused of fixing the field when in reality they have no say. They only have the broadcast rights to reveal the committee’s decisions.
@ yes, until the field has completely been set. I didn’t advocate for Notre Dame to be left out, but they shouldn’t get a leg up for not ever playing that 13 game so many others will have to. It’s time for them to join a conference. Most of the teams in the running toward the end are still in the hunt for their conference championship. In the current ranking system Notre Dame will get the 5th seed with the easiest path to the semifinals. The whole playoff at this point is a joke.
@JohnnieSmith-c7d why would they have more losses if not for the refs? Tell you haven't watched miami play without telling me you haven't watched miami play...
😊Texas has not played anyone including Medicore Michigan team. Paul Finnbaun blasts MIzzou for Barely beating a terrible Vanderbilt team.
