Don't know about the creator as he's a pro, but we followed it (hubby is quite handy already) and did this plus our ad on's as bigger, in about a day and a half.
Yes and no. Let me explain. Yes the wood is actually compressed not real wood. So you should be careful. Use a hand screw driver if your electrical screwdriver has no low level. In my case mine has from 1 to 19 levels which means i can screw as soft as a hand screwdriver

I’m confused why your first drawer was so high up? Just convenience of not having to bend over so far?
I wanted to create space bellow for shoes. And once the sliding doors don’t allow a first row drawer at the bottom. Having them lower would be weird
Oh I see, they sell a multi tier shoe rack. Might be something to look into.
