- The Cross Keys Inn "Dagenham Villiages' oldest surviving non religious building." Join me for a full tour + history, of this lovely 14th century building = which has been an Inn, since 1708. At the end of the video = We even get a list of the resident / publicans, from its first recorded publican "John Gull in 1708," right up to "J J Vaughan in 1957."
Hope you've all enjoyed our little tours, of what remains of the old Dagenham Villiage. Thanks for watching ✌️
Beautiful historic pub. Love it and the church. I wouldn’t mind going back to 1708!
@victoriajford It is beautiful, isn't it Victoria "you'd not think, it was located in an now urban area, so near London." Yes, it does look idyllic in many ways, if you could avoid poverty & disease "it'd be a much slower, more peaceful way of life." 🙂✌️
@@londonluke6487 ugh yes the diseases.
I used to go for a drink there in the 80's. Cemetery across the road xx I was born in Dagenham
Spent many a happy afternoon and evening in this place back in the 70s
Hi Stephen. Did you mate? 🍻 Lovely old pub, isn't it!! Can't beat a decent traditional old one like this ay ✌️
Joolz Guides of London featured the Pub today as the location for his team’s end of work obligatory pint! Nice half-timbered/ brick fireplace. The Crossed Keys plaster bas -relief reminds me of exterior plaster Bas reliefs on the old half-timbered homes in Dorset or Devon. That technique is called “Parketting” or “pargetting “. (It adds tricks to the decor !)
@RighteousReverendDynamite Good afternoon. Ah rite, I can see why the location, was chosen for that! Beautiful old pub + nice friendly feeling. Thanks for that info "I didn't know that" = So, its much appreciated! Always good to learn new things.
Had my weddings reception in the hall
@stevewoolf2538 Hi Steve. Ah rite, a lovely place, to have had your reception in!
