    Hi David, thank you so much for making these videos of going to different type of churches.
    Im struggling to find what is the right Church for me. And I am so glad that you have the time to share what is it like inside as well as your experiences. I hope I can find the church that is for me. It is also just so hard how there's so many denominations .

    I really enjoyed the background information you gave on the Salvation Army. I found out a few years ago that my great-great grandmother was involved in the Salvation Army in the late 1800s in Wichita Kansas. I have a picture of her with the big bonnet on, which I didn’t realize till later that this was part of the uniform for members. Thanks very much.

    Happy Christmas to you and yours.
    You sure are able to discern good people from not.
    You had a smile the entire time.
    They really shared their spirit with you and it showed.
    Your smile is becoming a religion barometer.
    The closer they show the love of God, the bigger your smile gets.
    Thanks.

      Good to hear from you this week, CJ. It was very low-key, nothing over-the-top, and quite simple. The "prayers of joy" portion was very short, but wow, seeing the one gentleman so grateful he was for the Salvation Army was so impactful. Can only imagine what that's like when it happens at other corps services.

      Just found your channel and I’m glad I did. I appreciate your sincerity and open mindedness. I’ve only watched 3 so far. 2 different visits to LDS wards and this Salvation Army visit. I need to go back and watch all prior episodes. I enjoy learning more about other denominations but it’s been many years since I’ve attended services other than my own. Keep up the good work as I think we can all learn a lot from your experiences.

    The Salvation Army is quite diverse. I grew up in The Salvation Army here in Australia and have served as an Officer (minister) for over 20 years. Not only are there differences between the Army in different countries, in my experience individual corps can be quite different. At my current corps we have a small brass band. In my previous corps it was recorded music or me on the piano. At a neighbouring corps they use electric guitars.
    You visited a very small corps. Some have hundreds attending.
    One could do a series of 52 corps in 52 weeks. LOL
    Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ll explore some of your other videos.

    I thought that the Salvation Army was only a charity, but never as a church! 😯 I only encounter them during the Christmas season when they stand at mall entrances to collect donations. I should check out if there's a SA church in our area (maybe they'd give me a baking package, too 😆)

  • @boba.6478
    @boba.6478 Год назад +2

    I'm not proud, but when I first saw the topic today, my immediate thought was of the unfortunate statement on race that the SA headquarters put out last year and have since retracted. I was, however, immediately struck with the impression, 'how many stones are you (me) holding and haven't you (again me) been forgiven of grievous errors. I then felt piece. Whoever thought that statement was a good idea made a mistake and it did hurt their efforts, BUT because of the moment I just had, your video being the impetus, thank you David, I realized to focus on that is ridiculous and contrary to the spirit of the Gospel of Christ. These guys have always done wonderful work and live Christ's teachings. We have to forgive each other and focus want what we can share with each other. Satan is the one who wants to divide.
    Now take that cookie sheet, and make cookies for others. If you think they have to be the most awesome cookies, you miss the point.

      Hey Bob, hope you're doing well this week and thanks for the kind words. I've been trying to steer clear from the news lately (especially after 2020...), so after posting the video last night, was surprised to see some of the stories out there that the RUclips algorithm was putting out there. Removing all that, there's a lot of good here and how they try to exemplify Christ and put their faith in action.
      For the cookies, I was thinking about it last night. May learn how to bake them and donate them back to local volunteers or for those they serve. I've never made cookies, so would be a nice challenge to tackle.

    I knew it was called the Salvation Army. But, I was not aware of the "military structure". This would take some getting use to. I just saddens me that they make a profit off of the items we donate freely.

    • @jollybaldman.3459
      @jollybaldman.3459 5 месяцев назад +1

      Just to offer some clarity. The donations go to the Thrift shops. The profit from the thrift shop goes directly to the Adult Rehabilitation Centers where people receive housing and drug and alcohol rehabilitation for 6-18 months.

      Not true. Latter-Day Saints join forces with a lot of different religious groups on community service and charitable works. In fact Pope Francis met with our Church President a few years back, largely to show gratitude for the support LDS Charities made to Catholic charity efforts.
