You’re not wrong Jason. My mom made me sell my “old toys” as a kid. Now, I’m buying all these old toys back to enjoy with my son.
This is crazy. I got this for my birthday on this exact day Feb 26 when I was a kid. It might have been 1988-1989. Not exactly sure which year. I just remember playing with it so much the proton wand sound trigger wore out. So many good memories. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I still have mine, and the box, I remember getting it for Christmas and I totally lost it! I also got some RGB action figures. Thought it was the best Christmas ever! Fortunately I was able to hang on to all of them and still have them.
I actually let my kids play with my old proton pack, along with some of the other cool ghostbusters-stuff. I guess in one way that’s just crazy, but it also gives me great joy to see them from enjoy the same kind of game my friends and I did. I’m very happy to still have those things and to be able to share it with the new generations.

Wow, I had the Proton pack as a kid, it was awesome to own that back in the 80's. I lost my mind whenever I got one.
I had the proton pack as a kid… BUT unfortunately at some point had modified it to look like the Rocketeer’s jet pack for a Halloween costume… well as good as one could anyway with the limited amount of resources I had and the fact that I had to wear it upside down lol. In hindsight being more of a ghostbusters fan and carrying that fandom into adulthood I wish I hadn’t have done that.
I remember getting this toy for Christmas in 88. I was 4 and it went everywhere with me aside from daycare and church. So much so I remember my dad came in to wake me and my brother up because we were under a Tornado warning and he rushed us to the basement but not before I grabbed my pack.
Oh wow. Me and my best friend had this back I the day! As much as I would love to have a real proton pack, this brings back a lot of memories for me!
Despite its simplicity it was a toy loved and desired in those years by fans of Ghostbusters... 😌
The beauty was in developing one's imagination, simulate noises, imagine the lights of the stream! 👻🚫

I made one as a kid, with a shoe box, a piece of broomstick and shoe laces... good old times 🥺
I got one of these sets for Christmas one year and I was the happiest kid on Earth.
I still remember waking up to this on Christmas morning. I think it was 1988. It was sitting under the Christmas tree unwrapped, so I saw it right away and became so excited. I got so much play out of it and have fond memories of it. I still have some of the components but the stickers wore off. I'd love to own it again, and it would be awesome if Hasbro reissued it (and the trap) in the Retro series.
When you were using the "proton blaster" your face and reactions I couldn't help but laugh considering that's how we all are😂😂
After I got my tonsils taken take out my parents went to Toys R Us and bought me a proton pack. I was 5 or 6 years old. It was so great. I was so happy. I still have everything but the ID card.

God I had that when I was a kid absolutely absolutely still love the Ghostbusters but but d*** such a nostalgic moment.
Well, I didn't have an "official" pack, and wand when I was a kid. What I did have was one made out of styrofoam, cardboard, Coke bottle caps, and black electrical tape. A ton of electrical tape. And a wand with a flashlight inside. Add a cut down old boiler suit. I was good to go, and king of the school yard for the day. Y'know. Thinking back. Some of the best toys I had back then we're home made things. Proton packs, Lightsabers from red broom sticks, Autobot bases built from shoe boxes for the Decepticons to attack. Sigh. Thems were the days. Lol
I use string confetti. I was a happy camper. It had the perfect effect.
The old kenner toys really bring you back to the 90s

I remember having one of these as a kid in the UK, if it wasn't available here it's possible it was imported by my grandparents that frequently traveled to Canada to stay with my Aunty :)
Never got this one as a kid. My proton pack was a wood dowel carved more like the slime blower attached with rope to a backpack.
The Real Ghostbusters cartoon is what made me a Ghostbusters fan. Most people it's the movies.
Oh this brings back memories. I got this in 88 or 89. I wanted to be a Ghostbuster too! But when I was told it wasn't a real profession wanted to be a fireman so I could pretend I was a Ghostbuster... stupid kid logic.
My dog chewed on the middle antenna piece, another side broke off, the foam stream piece and the hose from the pack to the wand were lost so was the armband. And for some reason when I looked at the pack year later it seemed to have shrunk. Sill, I loved this toy in the 80s and early early 90s

JASON love your chanel. I have a story. I visited my aut in Delaware from Puerto Rico and alwalys wanted the proton pack. Well they took me to Toysrus and somebody bougt it for me. Happiest day of my life and did a modification. The modofication was to attach stream confetti to it. I did that. I tell you they never imagine that. That for me where the beams from my proton pack😊
Had this as a kid and gave it to a fellow collector on forum years ago to give to their kid.
Jeez.. I remember having this as kid ... I didnt not remember the wand and the pack being a different colour though
I've still got the vintage one and it's a prized possession.
Now you need to finish the set and get that Kenner Ghost Trap.

I remember having the pack but I don't remember the armband or that it even came with an ID card. I get the vague impression I chewed that antenna on a few occasions, ha ha ha.
I had those when I was a kid, and I'm loving it, I wear them whenever I watch the episodes of RGB, always blast the ghosts on the screen (kinda sad that my armband and the top antenna of my PKE broke off easily)... Years later, it was kept in the storage room till my mom gave it away, (thought I'm too old or too big to wear or play it.... Bummer) sigh I wish I still have them....

As a recent fan of the Ghostbusters via a trip to the local cinema to watch the latest movie,I am hooked straight on and want to be a ghost buster too.
How?
Firstly I will collect the Hasbro and Kenner Ghostbusters gear, order 2 pedal cars, A blue battery powered beacon,the RGB McDonald's bicycle set x2. So that I could mod the pedal cars to look just like the ecto-1and ecto-1A. I do have a red battery powered beacon already soo I am off too a good start.

When I was in first grade I got in trouble for taking everything out of my backpack and taking my proton pack to school to show off instead of my school supplies 😂
I had the proton pack when I was 7 in 2015 I found it in a room when I moved into a new house it was in a room the landlord said they didn't want anything in the room and I loved the pack

I had this pack as a kid!!!
I was lucky enough to find one in as good condition as that one at a con, and then I spent about a week searching to find one in not so good condition to mod into my own custom pack
I always wanted that proton pack,I already had most of the figures,the Firehouse,Ecto 1,Ecto 1A,Ecto 2,the ghost popper and the ghost zapper. I wanted the proton pack but I was nine years old and my mother said no,I was too old and too big for it,I was disappointed I wanted it so bad. To my parents it was something I would out grow but in my mind it was an unlicensed nuclear execellerater.
Well this brings back memories I remember when I was three years old. I had a Ghostbuster finanza in 1988 I got the proton pack the pka the ghost trap and my dad got a flight suit with real patches and my last name on it I have like six patches. I wish I still have that flight suit. Because mine was a dark navy blue because you couldn't actually get the ones back then like that. So my dad found somebody that could get one and stitched everything in there then when my birthday. I got a tall surprise and it was the firehouse I've said it many times on here. We had a bad fire one year and it melted every single Ghostbuster Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Terminator 2 I lost a lot of things that I believe I would have kept going up it's hard to get the firehouse some people want $1,000 for that that's a joke I mean my extreme Ghostbusters ecto-1 is worth three hundred bucks and I didn't even know that mine still on the box I got that for my 29th birthday I still have it. If I could Don pack the firehouse ecto-1 and all the Ghostbuster toys and figurines I think I would pay for it that's probably going to be like almost $2,000. Don't want me to have their house fire I lost toys that were in pristine condition even the Star Wars ones that my brother gave me when he was a kid. It's funny 36 years old and I still feel like a kid. Life is short I say live fast die fun. Thank you for showing this video brings back happy memories.

I also had this, cause back then you weren't cool unless you were Batman, Ninja Turtle or a Ghostbuster. ....Course during that time I did all three but that's not the point! I loved the hell out of this proton pack set. I wanna say I had this until the very late 90's after which this thing was so beaten up, stickers long gone, parts missing, that my folks just up and decided for me to throw it away with everything else I had collected from 84 to 99. Man was I bummed out about that.
Actually Jason, if you compare to the unreleased RGB opening it does look similar. I think they copied the design for the toy from that. Perhaps if you agree, you could do a comparison with image captures compared to the finalized packs in RGB that we know.

I'm not super old but after seeing this I found mine I got from a yardsale for I think $18 or $20 it fit very tightly I don't have a big back but it didn't fit good
I haven’t owned one of these bad boys since ‘91 or ‘92.
I never had that I had the gun type thing like venkmans air pump it came with a neon pink ghost as well as a neon green ghost, and at the tip of the plastic rod thingy was a flat round tip with Velcro.
Oh yeah I remember the store sticker it came from my local Sears.
I got a mostly complete Kenner pack at a con last year for only $15
Had the Kenner proton pack as a kid. It was good for what it was. I used to smack the shit out of my sister with the yellow pool noodle that went into the barrel of the neutrona wand while wearing the GB set up and pretending she was a ghost. Yeah, the noodle was taken away from me many of times by my parents.
