Great advice at 17:10! Always be practicing, always be learning, always be getting better. The more we learn, the better we get, the more we can pass on to the next generation.
View around 9 mins is awesome. I know you've seen other comments on your other videos about how much people love it. Mean props on pumping out videos too man.
hey man awesome video, just what I was looking for. going to be at a wall this week and hopefully going to land a big one. Was thinking instead of texas rigged crawl a weighted hook craw instead so it falls more horizontal rather than nose dives. (dout a hungry bass will care either way)
Love this video. On Cherokee lake in Northeast Tennessee, we have a lot of those bluff walls. I use a zoom speed craw most of the time but I really want to get good at using a jig. Keep it up!! GO DAWGS!!
Great info and great demonstration. I have two similar Bluff walls in a clear water, primary Smallmouth Reservoir. Both walls tilt back about 10° and are full of features, shelves, trees, jetties and a rock pile base. One wall is full of fish. The other is void. It took me four seasons to validate that the baron wall was void of the primary forage (stunted Kokanee) of this Reservoir, for whatever reason, current, orientation water temps?? Now I'm just a happy ass fisherman who catches plenty of smallies on one wall and for some reason 'occasionally goes back to the other' fishless wall because it just looks so damn good. Lol
Nice - another good bit of info - thanks man. We have a lot of strip pits out by us so I'll have to try pitching a creature up towards the walls. I tend to stay away from these because of inexperience, really.
Awesome Video!!!! Question: could you make a video where you fish a lake with no fish/depth finder at all? Would really help me learn how to find fish without them. Thanks!
Tyler Mccarthy Try looking for points of land that jut out into the water they usually hold fish almost all year. Also watch the bank for any changes such as mud to sand or mud to rock and just fish the transition line from shallow out to deep. A carolina rigged worm is great for these areas because you can feel the bottom very well with it. Crankbaits will also work if your digging bottom you can tell when you go from rock to mud. Also if you lake has muscles in them these are also good places to hold bass. Good luck!
I appreciate the helpful comment. I actually do use a lot of those techniques on my lake. It is just hard to find exactly what sections of the lake to choose. I will keep working at it though. Thank you!
Love this info! Broken Bow lake there are a ton of bluff walls so can't wait to put the knowledge to test. Side bar: How about an instagram story or something showing how you mounted your transducer to your mayfly? I just picked one up and would love to see how you rigged it through the scupper.
Excellent video Gene. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have found that bluff ends can be a predictable location to find bass as well. Have you found this to be the case?
so when you are skipping your lure like you were towards the end of the video how do you keep your reel from backlashing? Cause usually either i get a skip and it backlashes or I don't get the bait to skip and it don't backlash.... didn't know if you had any tips for skipping that will keep your reel from backlashing
Gene. Thank you!!! I fish the Lake of the Ozarks, MO and the entire main channel of the 100 mile lake is basically bluffs. Never really known how to fish them but a lot of the guides here say it's great for catching fish bass. Been waiting for a video like this and boom. You're the man. Any tips on the right drop-shot Rod?
Fluke, I'm moving to a new place on the snake river (Oregon/Idaho border) got a private boat ramp and dock. Come catch some of the monster smallies we have!
Hey Fluke, when you're pitching, do you completely loosen your brakes and/or cast control knob? I find that if I have my reel dialed in to cast I can't get much distance when pitching. But i'm a noob, so maybe i'm just doing it wrong lol.
Flukemaster - I think your throwing a concept C reel. But can't tell which 13 Fishing rod you're working? Not seeing your post to Tackle Warehouse on what you fished with during the video like you say you will/do. Lol
Might just be me, but thank you for still doing informative fishing videos and not just random videos about your day!
Great advice at 17:10! Always be practicing, always be learning, always be getting better. The more we learn, the better we get, the more we can pass on to the next generation.
Love the dragonfly photobomb at 1:39
The free swinging spinnerbaits are awesome for sure. Great video Gene.

Great video and tips! I was trying to fish cliffs a couple weeks ago with a friend and wasn't doing well.
Love this video. On Cherokee lake in Northeast Tennessee, we have a lot of those bluff walls. I use a zoom speed craw most of the time but I really want to get good at using a jig. Keep it up!! GO DAWGS!!
Junyaahs Settin' Hooks ya, my second fav. lake.. but it's east Tenn . 100% of the lakes have some type of bluff wall on some part of the lake, ha.
Junyaahs Settin' Hooks I fished a tournament on Cherokee a few weeks ago didn't have a keeper lol
Cherokee has some good fish in it, but its been really tuff this year.
Great video Gene! I really like how you combined casting and explaining.
nice video FLUKE!! I fish Big Horn Reservoir a lot and it is a canyon type of lake with straight cliff drop offs! thanks this video was helpful
Your boat looks great man it's what catches my attention the most in your videos lol thanks for the tips btw!
This is a really good video and helps me alot on the mississippi pool 7 in wisconsin, thanks gene
Thanks for this video gene. Live and fish a highland res every week. Could not find a good video for this just last night
Another great video Gene. Keep it up
Great info and great demonstration.

Bluff walls are on of my favorite things to fish, luckily in East Tennessee we have a bunch! Keep it up Gene I've been a fan for a long time!
So helpful!!! Most of my lake is bluff wall thanks
Great info. I did the same thing last Friday in Az, I used a lipless crank instead of a spinnerbait.
could you do a video centered around like how to fish a tournament as both a coangler and a main angler?
Pls do an origin c reel review
Can u talk about how you would fish rocky areas in the summer?
Great info. Thanks. I will have to try some of this on the bluff walls at Watts Bar. 👍🏻
Great video. I'll be trying this on the French River in Northern Ontario in a couple of weeks.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!! This video needed to be made!
+Natural State Angle Thanks.
Have you tried the freedom lures spinnerbait? Also a free swinging hook
Awesome
Video!!!!

Great info on working those bluff walls...
BTW - You said "Wilson, Pickwick"... as in lakes. I heard Wilson Pickett... as in the singer...
Do you use similar baits during the winter months too?

Pulling Drag, fluke master... I second that getting a more Garmin myself... #scouton
What's your top 5 favorite baits for dirty water
Excellent video Gene. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have found that bluff ends can be a predictable location to find bass as well. Have you found this to be the case?
Yes in many cases.
In your opinion, is there any place for a deeper jerkbait like a Staysee 90 when fishing bluff walls?

I use a "rage rig" for this. 1/2 oz belly weighted swim bait hook with a rage craw
Works great
What lures do you fish on the bluff walls during the fall?
Does this apply to smallmouth fishing on bluff walls? How would you fish bluff walls for smallies?
+ZaygonHD yes
That helped a lot thanks man!
Why do you peg your weight on bluff walls ? Just wondering
Fluke, I'm moving to a new place on the snake river (Oregon/Idaho border) got a private boat ramp and dock. Come catch some of the monster smallies we have!
Is it possible for you to do a swim jig video?
I was going to do one on this trip but I left my swimjigs at home.
Love the videos
Thanks Daniel
What part of TN are you from?
Nice video keep it up
I was fishing that exact spot 2 weeks ago. Put a zoom swimming fluke in Tennessee shad on that Texas rig and the bass will hit it hard.
Pls do another in depth vid on this
What's the green rod
+Squash Man!! It's the 13 Fishing Fate Black Gen2. It will be in stores in November
Hey Fluke, when you're pitching, do you completely loosen your brakes and/or cast control knob? I find that if I have my reel dialed in to cast I can't get much distance when pitching. But i'm a noob, so maybe i'm just doing it wrong lol.
Go to my channel page and search for How to Flip and pitch. It covers that.
Thank ya sir! Great vid as always.
Fluke u r my Inspiration!!!😁😁😁
Flukemaster - I think your throwing a concept C reel. But can't tell which 13 Fishing rod you're working? Not seeing your post to Tackle Warehouse on what you fished with during the video like you say you will/do. Lol
Brian if you click on Show more under Published Aug 8 it will show his tackle
When would you fish a Texas rig vs a jig?
Do a video on the garmins dude
Or at least do a video scanning with them as part of something else. interested to see what the image looks like compared to the simulations in store
Another really good bait is a ned rig I can always catch em on that
Always? It’s been a technique for about 6 months
@@Davo2233 to you maybe. It may have just caught on mainstream but its been around far longer than 6 months
Are you going to put a "G" on your new boat?! UGA! It's gonna be a great season!
+Brandon Duke Yep. It need to get around to doing that.
Do a video in a canal
Why does the audio sound like your underwater
Sounds good to me
Jdog 11 the first part of the video was bad, but I could here when he actually started fishing
+Nolan Abell The GoPro Hero5's microphones were supposed to be great. They suck. I won't do that again.
Subbed bro.
+Mike West thanks man.
i hate bluff walls...i cant tell what my lure is doing except falling...or maybe it landed on a small ledge....or maybe its still falling...ARRRGH!
And I thought this was the time when Gene was going to recommend a wacky rig for the first time. Nope. :P
+Francis Ducharme I almost did.
Hope you don't mind but I talked about you on my video.
Notification gang
Yut
I’d love to fish with Mr. Flukemaster

Dude. You need a new profile picture. It doesn't even look like you since you have your beard grown out now. 😂
+Daniel Jones Lol. That was my first Chickamauga bass though.
Flukemaster It sure is a beauty. Do you have a video of you catching it?
