I just saw him do this in Boston last night--absolutely enchanting. He also did, as a last-minute change to the program, a suite of dances by Gaspar Sanz that he ended with the famous "Canarios" and then the cadenza written for it by Joaquin Rodrigo that brought the house down. He is a monster.
When Aniello Desiderio plays Koyunbaba it sends shivers down my spine. His right hand is so damn powerful. I saw him live, more than ten years ago and he played part IV as an encore and it blew me away. It was as if he had hidden a Marshall stack inside of his completely unamplified guitar.
and when people say about desiderio that he's too free and not enough in the style, le'ts just all remember that if you play dowland, scarlatti, or even your own compositions, we want to hear MUSIC. If there is a specific line that the stylistic approach pushes you to play in a certain way doesn't feel good, let's forget it and make the best of the music. Dowland will never come back to tell you it was a mistake or the best idea ever
I sent him an email once to ask what strings he is using. He was so kind to respond: "I use Daddario Dinacore for Bass extra hard and G and B carbon Daddario hard and E nylon extra hard Daddario " ) No wonder he can be so loud withour losing clarity.
Well that was a thing... I love this piece, and how everyone brings out something different from the score.. but wow, some are just more different than others I suppose. Thank you for sharing your unique interpretation
I'm about to see him perform in a few weeks, looking forward. I was unfamiliar with him before but they put him in the same festival as Ana Vidovic so I knew he had to be good
Let’s not forget the most important person here Carlo Domeniconi who will live on forever in what he has created. I think he would be please with this performance , imo it can not be played better.
Excellent interpretation. Normally i would frown on the performer adding and neglecting parts of a written piece, but i think this worked really well and retained its flavour,
I discussed this with a number of people who perform this piece and there's no easy answer to this. The sheet music is really a snapshot, a captured moment in time of an endless improvisation in c-sharp minor. I played this for David Russell in a master class and I was playing one note "wrong" (i.e. not as written in the sheet music). He pointed this out, but then said (I'm quoting from memory): "but it really doesn't matter because this is really an improvised piece". Since then I've seen lots of variations in the performance of Koyunbaba - some work better, some not.
Gosh. Destroying a master piece only takes this type of “tosco-style”. Please God (Domeniconi) forgive him! This is not what is been written in the original score!
This is beyond avant-garde. Those awful tempo changes, god, it is not a damn sine wave you are trying to portray. It is an elegant musical piece. Intense presto though, very likable.
I have been following Aniello Desiderio for many years and I regard him as one of the greatest guitar maestros in the world today.
I agree
This is my monster. Every classic guitar hits in his playing is my favourites
It is one of the most amazing performances of this piece! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Jason! We totally agree with you: he is a monster!

What power,what a great interpration...
6:45 to 7:23 what a moment, you cant find anyone played this piece like this such expression of the piece omg.

Notes did not matter. It was pure music and emotions.
Magic...

A most unique and entrancing interpretation! Bravo!🙏🏻

Sure that the perfection doesn’t exist?
Я когда свою первую гитару покупал примерно также ее проверял.
А когда вторую покупал, то для проверки настроя партию гитары из Аранхуэского концерта сыграл без единой ошибки😎
From a guitarist to another, if you know this score, It’s macaroni and pizza soup
after all of those thigns he done they just clapped.

Dopo 20 anni che suoni un brano, non sei più tu a dare un'interpretazione del brano, è il brano che offre un'interpretazione di te.

Technique différente; porque no ?
ok master for sure but i didn't like the modification that much. I think it stopped the flow.
Bad interpretation I ave ever felt, I didn't feel anything soul of this beautiful piece

Pirai Vaca played much better.

I didn't hear all the notes! That's what happens when you smoke weed before performing.
or before listening, as the case may be
does he really smoke? do you know?
I like this version of koyunbaba
@@MiguelguitarSMAi smoke weed i can only play little wing and tears in heaven… this cant even be understood while high 😭
Unless he takes a hit then jams out
Bravo!
