    This is another level of music where atmosphere and improvisation plays more important role than sticking to rules and technicality. Domeniconi delivers what is generally lost in our era.

    The great thing is, he has recorded it on several occasions - and with every performance, he dwells further away from the printed score. I believe he's once said that this is exactly what you should do as a performer of this piece - add your own embellishments, repeat phrases you like a lot, or even improvise on sections. Also, do note that in the score, he suggests to play it in C sharp minor instead of D minor. Excellent suggestion, it becomes a much more dark and haunting piece. I've been fighting with Koyunbaba for 6 years; it's beginning to sound right in places now. ;-) Oh, and I have a designated guitar for it. Otherwise, it's hopeless with this tuning.

      lmao the tuning is the only reason i haven't finished learning it.... i could have a designated for the piece but even if i finish it, every time i want to perform it i would have to tune and retune the guitar :/ lol

    • @yeahyeahyeah5089
      @yeahyeahyeah5089 5 лет назад

      @@yohnkessler7188 its the exact same score... you play it the same but just tune the guitar different... im not 100% sure but if my music theory is right, i believe the tuning would be something like:
      6 -
      5-G#
      4- C#
      3- G#
      2- C#
      1- E
      too lazy to retune my guitar right :/ but if you want the exact tuning, let me know and i will retune it to figure out the exact tuning for you

    It is by this play that I discovered Carlo Domeniconi. The guitarist who "revealed" it to me in concert was extraordinary. It was for me a magic moment.

    interesting af
    the composer plays it unlike almost anyone else (or rather the other way round)
    But yeah aha just funny innit, like I'm imagining some college professor critiquing this performance unaware who's playing saying "the composer would have meant this!" when in fact the composer is right there and played exactly what he meant if that makes sense aha

    anybody know how to read the repeat instructions in the 4th? I cant find a definition for Rip. Poi seems to mean something like "and then." Most other recordings of this movement are played in a different order than this version.

      Don't know the exact date, but most probably early 90's, TV4 was a channel of Turkish National TV, which started broadcasting in 1990, and it's Hikmet Şimşek at beginning of the video, was a famous Turkish conductor, also did classical music programs for the TV for a long time.
