The song is supposed to be about ABR's fans and how they appreciate that they love the band, but don't look up to them as a god. That's were the lyrics "Just don't call me your hero" fit in. Don't think of them as something you could never become musically, spiritually, or however you look at it. This is why i love this band because of how powerful their lyrics are.
I love how ABR have no set verses and choruses in their songs, like they’re too cool for that stuff. They listened to all the other bands in history and said “nah we’re doing it different!”
@@EssenceOfTrance how does that matter? It’s not about who did it first, besides - August Burns Red is an icon on combining Melodic Metalcore with Hardcore elements, which led to these structures and many creative ideas that makes them way more enjoyable than those bands for me.

I agree. I played Meridian real loud on vacation in my car while my family was getting coffee at this place near Zion. I was just looking at the mountains and jammin' to ABR. It was one of my favorite vacation memories. Also try Provision, Spirit Breaker, Back Burner, Empire...these guys are my favorites
I don't really listen to this music much anymore but every now and then I come back to it. Its still not my favorite though. Just here for the nostalgia.
This is a good song but Spirit Breaker will forever be my favorite song in the album and by ABR. The raw and pure emotion in that song brings me down to earth and fills me with hope every time i listen to them
They are hands down one of the best in this scene. I've loved this band for more than ten years. Since Looks Fragile... they have been my favorite, even through different singers...
He sounds like the dude from Acacia Strain when he hits lows. I find he is probably the best mid-low vocalist in metalcore and Dustin is probably the best highs in metalcore. Either way they are stacked instrumentally and vocally.
Stop arguing about which album you prefer, because in the end you all agree that August Burns Red is a heavenly awesome band. Nevertherless i'm worried that you all rate Rescue & Restore this low. In my opinion they made a incredible job on this one, just like they always do. (and I fucking loved Sleddin' Hill as well)
Meaning of this video or at least what I interpret from it, 1. The car is symbolized as you. The car may be in a state where it cannot be repaired but God can make all things new. 2. The kids represent the world and sin and how our selfishness and sin can destroy us. Moral is we all have hope through Christ and I encourage you if you don't know him to find his hope.
Technically this is their best album in my opinion, it's not overly repetitive and the slow parts add another dimension to their sound. Jake's vocals are spectacular, they FINALLY got Dustin to be an actual backup vocalist, rather than just being one live, JB and Brent rarely disappoint, and Matt's drumming has clearly gotten better, which is saying something because he has established himself as one of the best drummers in the genre. Can't wait to hear these songs live in November!

I just feel people don't give Rescue&Restore the recognition it deserves by rating it out like that. Yet I have to agree that this kind of discussion is way more appreciable than the religious arguments on their videos.
First off, I love the video! As far as matching lyrical content & visual representation go, I think it captures the spirit well. For me it's about the guys' experiences hanging out with fans after the shows and the stories that get shared. "We all hurt", "Together we'll get through this". "without you, I am nothing." I think the video relates to the album title. This whole little movie is backwards, meaning that they're getting the car back and putting into the place it was before. The message of the video and song is that people has problems and we all sometimes get sad and suffer from stuff we made and received but there's always time to realize that you can rescue it and finally restore. I guess clear vocals aren't for everybody. I personally like the little touches of it here and there so it adds a little variety to their music. And in my opinion, bands like the ones I listen to plan every single note, every change in pitch, every beat of the drum so they wouldn't leave anything that they thought was needed out: especially clean vocals. To top it off, my bands don't play for the people's pleasure, they play for their hearts and for themselves. I can see where the others are coming from because bands like Nine Lashes and Icon for Hire went away from punk/metal/heavy metal and went more tech or pop: especially Icon for Hire. I still like 9L though because they're still really good and I'd still support them even though their transition was sudden and unsatisfying. They had a change of mind and wanted to try something else. No one can stay a moody teen forever, and ultimately it is their music and their decision, and if I still love them, I wish them the best even if they let me down. Yeah man they instantly became my favorite band when I first heard their album Mirrors. They got to come to the U.S. one day and tour with August Burns Red and Parkway Drive, that would be a dream come true for me.
You must have a simplistic view of music if this is considered mathcore to you. This would be the absolute worst attempt at mathcore ever. But thankfully it's just meant to be progressive metalcore. And it excels at that.
Kloe McCoy listen to this kind of music as much as u want, nobody can take it from you. You have your own likes, ways... every person is unique, if they dont accept you as you are, show middle finger to them because who are they to say thing or another to you. (a bit inspiration) :D

"just dont call me your hero". that part has such an emotional feel to it. gets to me for some reason.
Possibly because people may give major credit to ones character, when it's not really them, it's more so Gods love through them. Who knows?

that's true..
They've had a bit. But nowhere near as much as almost any other band in the genre and surrounding genres.
It's cause their lead guitarist and drummer are insane.
We all hurt, we all need
We all cry, we all bleed
Their dreams, their desires, they consume me
The good, the bad, the ugly aren't too much to take
I've been put in this position but now I can't bear to leave
Stand here with me
Together we'll get through this
Stand here with me
And we'll wash it all away
Without you I'm nothing, yes
I've come to understand this
Without you I'm worthless, yes
I've come to understand this
I've been handed my life by you
The least I can do is listen
Pull me aside, step inside and listen to your horror stories
Let this song be your motivation
Let your life be your inspiration
You can't hide your fear in this chorus, in this chorus forever
If I could do more I promise you I would but this is your time
If I could do more I promise you I would but this is your time now
Whisper your grief, scream your sorrow, proclaim your love
Just don't call me your hero
Whisper your grief, scream your sorrow, proclaim your love
Just don't call me your hero
Tell me your stories, I'll lend you my ears
Tell me your horror, I'll make it disappear
I'm absorbing the impact of the young at heart
Young at heart
We all hurt, we all need
We all cry, we all bleed
We have hope
We all hurt, we all need
We all cry, we all bleed
We have hope
We all hurt, we all need
We all cry, we all bleed
We have hope.

Yeah man they instantly became my favorite band when I first heard their album Mirrors. They got to come to the U.S. one day and tour with August Burns Red and Parkway Drive, that would be a dream come true for me.
Its nice of those teenagers to fix that car. They do it the weirdest way though. Never new bats could fix windows.
I keep meaning to get into these guys. Too impressive.
this is quite mathcore
You must have a simplistic view of music if this is considered mathcore to you.
This would be the absolute worst attempt at mathcore ever.
But thankfully it's just meant to be progressive metalcore. And it excels at that.
Go listen to dillinger escape plan or botch if you want to hear mathcore
yeah man, thats why i said quite....
MrMetallover123 "quite" in the way you used it means "very", or "to the upmost or absolute extent"
Cole444Train Thankyou for explaining that.
this band is surprisingly even better live saw them at the start of the year
Hay we need to think of a cool music vid
How about some kids hitting a car
That is fucking stupid
How about if they do it in reverse?
Genus.
We? Last time I checked, a director was one person.
Jonathan Massa maybe he/she has multiple personalities.
***** what?
I can see that you (before this video) already disliked August Burns Red. Why watch? Just so you can try to start something? Dumb-ass. BTW *Genius
you just don't understand the metaphor behind the video. no reason to be ignorant on the matter
One of the best band video I ever seen.
is it wrong that I'm black and I prefer this over rap and hip hop? not to be racist
JulioTheBusDriver in the neighborhood where im from. metal is almost illegal.lol
Kloe McCoy your neighborhood is illegal
Kloe McCoy listen to this kind of music as much as u want, nobody can take it from you. You have your own likes, ways... every person is unique, if they dont accept you as you are, show middle finger to them because who are they to say thing or another to you.
(a bit inspiration) :D
Just means you know what real music is. Something more then sex and drugs.
exactly! :)
This album saved my life
Joe Rogan?
He made a reference?
Came across this video by chance. I love the song and the video. I'll have to check out more of this band.
