Whitegate Centenary Champions

In 1984 the GAA celebrated its Centenary and so did Whitegate on the double. In Whitegate hurling predates the Assocoation. The first game played in 1825 on the shores of the Shannon, in Reinskea was a passionate if bloody affair as 500 people revolted when the Police tried to stop the game "the Sergeant had his arm and side desperately battered, and the Police were wounded in every direction". The passion came to the fore again in 1984 when Whitegate lifted the Clare Intermediate Championship and League Titles. This song captures the story.
