I got my turmaline last week. And it's wonderful!! But I don't think it's like the ocean blue at all! Yeah, I have both and a lot of other AL-Stars and Safaris. Yes, I'm a collector.
I'm not a fan of the design of the Lamy AL Star and the Safari, but I do like the beautiful colors that are available, which makes me wish that I liked them!
I guess that these are classic, tried and tested designs which Lamy won't change. It's a shame that they don't offer a different grip section as an alternative, because 50% of people might be tempted to try these pens then.
Well it is based on the famous Bauhaus art-style that emerged in Germany between 1919 and 1932, that turned expressionism into modernism. Famous artists as Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondriaan and Walter Gropius all contributed to this style and its development. Perhaps this helps to appreciate the forms of Lamy.
@@FountainPenJourney I learned to write shortly before the "Safari era", when the (old) Pelikano was still king in German schools, and therefore I prefer to put my index finger a bit closer to the middle of the section than the Lamy's triangular design would like me to. I still like the Al-Star/Safari for their exchangeable nibs, looks, price, durability, colours, and I have a few... but not for writing more than a few pages. I do wish they'd offer a round(ish) section, but I doubt that will happen...
