Feel like tau need more melee weapons for mechs i know about farsight but wanting a titan mech that looks like a super heavy gundam with a artillery cannon on the back, shoulder cannons and a giant axe with say a tower shield in the other. That or make some shredder ball drones that work pretty much like ripper swarms for cheap units that dive in and make some quick wounds.
Our big suits used to have Stomp, but that isn't a thing anymore. I don't think that they specifically need melee weapons, as I don't think it would easily be justified under the lore for most of the Tau. That being said, we do need more options in close combat. Our vehicles used to have flechette dischargers, but now it's exclusive to the XV109 y'vahra. If this was made available to vehicles again, and to more battlesuits, it could definitely help.
Never played the game, but the lore has been fascinating enough for me to have watched a bunch of these videos. I've always been curious about the game mechanics, and if they're similar to how other tabletop miniatures games play out.
My only 40K army was Tau, loved their guns and troops and everything. Lost it when I moved states and now I wanna get back into 40k again but still nice hearing all the lore on it!
Question: Is it possible that the Orcs and Tau races in the lore can sign a peace treaty pact and work together to take on the Galaxy? And, how bad ass would that be? The Tau at range, then a player can drop in the close quarters Orcs?
Not possible, the Tau despise Orkz and Orkz are simply to violent to be aligned with anyone. Orkz don't even ally with other Orks well and constantly fight each other. Plus there is no signing a peace treaty with the entire Ork race. Orkz are just scattered hordes and micro-empires across the Galaxy and don't have a central authority.
Yo sound alchemist I have just started my first ever 40k army around a month ago and have gone with your recommended suit only tactics for tau and so far I am loving this hobby.
The one thing I would like the Tau to have that is has an option to field a die-hard Fire Warrior Commander is to be in Normal grunt armour full of tech like shields, drone controllers, to have a pistol and a sword who fights imperial guard, that mimics imperial guard commanders as a slight. Having a bodyguard of sword wielding hand to hand warriors wearing normal +4 armour, but having some extra perks. So....he could be trained by Aunshi, has a long honour blade, and fights in normal armour because the Ethereals only wear very little, but say have twice as many drones in a dual controller so he could have both shied drones and gun drones. I think this would be good. Even if he had bionics. You could even use Kais, saying he gained his mind back. He was messed up in the book at the end, and his body was badly messed up, so bionics? A sword. Kais killed heaps of things in hand to hand in the book. So why not use that character? I am working on a conversion atm using this idea. A Ethereal trained fire warrior who has spurned suits because he hates cowards that use armoured suits when ethereals walk around in their pj’s.
