"I'm gonna make you notice me" A very special example of Chrissie's raw talent and ability to capture the audience, totally. By the end of this great song, she had everyone in the palm of her hand. Talent, charisma, sultry beauty voice and the ability to combine them all in a song makes this a very special, unique example of Chrissie's talent. Surprised there's not 20 million views...
And she was 44 years old during this performance. How many 44 year old women have you seen over the years who have that amount of attitude and sassiness? She was totally kick ass in this performance.
This is such a great song. I especially love how it uses an unexpected chord and low bass note on the part "Nobody else here". Superb performance ang excellent live vocal. An inspiration for today's musicians.
I love her voice and music. Brass in Pocket has always been my favorite as a child. She is so inspiring and because of her I always had a dream to be on stage like that presenting my music. ❣️
This lady is the real deal of Rock. She's got everything that makes her one of the leading Ladys of Rock and Roll. Dont ever count her out. Love seeing her kick it with this song.
"She IS blessed with natural talent and looks. She moved from Ohio to London and becomes a Female Rock Icon. I’m still a fan after all this time!" Fixed! With all due respect to Dyn Jarren.
Nothing sexier than a rocking gal with a hell of a voice, great body, good character and morals, sense of humor and love of fun, and an active and smart brain!
@@dianainclan2021 The death of the outstanding, sonically unique guitarist James Honeyman-Scott and having to release Bassist Pete Farndon due to drug issues. To lose both, particularly James, to drug overdoses after they released their second album would have caused most people to call it quits. Because of Chrissie's fortitude and determination, The Pretenders still carried on and continued to make quality albums. In fact, to this day Chrissie's still going strong at nearly 70 years old. A truly amazing, talented, and strong Woman.
I'm that now...I'm doing fine...didn't ruin my body with drugs etc so yeah you dont age if you take care of yourself. But yeah I saw her couple three years ago in upstate NY festival, she looked the same really and sounded awesome. Chrissie never lost her hardcore...
Saw the Pretenders back in ‘85 in Gainesville Fl. They were awesome...the drummer did this thing where he’d send drumsticks sailing out into the audience...Chrissie was just as amazing then as she is here. What a great band.
No one like me..... now if everybody would stop thinking how great others are and realize this!!!! An absolutely powerful emotional song and "bring the house down performance!!" Watching her brought tears to my eyes it was so good!!!
I remember seeing this when it first aired and being shocked at how good it was. The Pretenders hadn't really been on my radar screen at the time. I can't believe it was 26 years ago! Her look and moves here remind me of the late Christina Amphlett of DiVinyls, But Chrissie is her own woman. Huge talent.
She wrote it with James Honeyman Scott. I'm just guessing; perhaps she has embraced it as one of her signature songs, out of respect for Scott. I've always loved it too, one of my favourites. Even the official video here on RUclips.
Love Love Love this!!! Was in love with Chrissie as a teenager and she has aged like fine wine. And as others have mentioned she was 44 at this time killed it!! Who would have known the tough kick ass rocker chick had moves that rivaled any pop stars of the time... Missed this when it came out more reason to love her a true all around talent and person... Thanks for posting!!!
The pretenders Chrissie hynde her voice is perfect a very sultry voice unique the rhythm of this particular song the band is there in harmoy I will listen to this song forever Rock on The pretenders 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶😜🐈🎵😜🎵🎶🎵🎶
This girl was one of my first crushes. I was in elementary school when this song came out, and I knew that not only did I like the song, I truly though she was a sultry goddess.
I noticed! This is the first time that I had seen this. Just wow. I never saw her this way, I had seen her as a tough woman, cute and talented, great voice and songwriter, but this surprised me.
She has the self confidence of a girl who has always been pretty. Although she kind of tried to cover it up, she is very good-looking and has a great "figure". And a fantastic songwriter. Hard to beat that combination.
She's also had to face disasters that would have terminated most bands, notably the brutal loss in 1982 of half the original group to drug addiction, just at the point when they seemed to be heading for a great third album (Learning to Crawl, two years later, did come out good, but a very different kind of album!). I think the mix of vulnerability and grit in her voice is a big part of her attraction as a singer (it's heard in the way she phrases high notes and tone-bends: "I've been driving /Detroit leaning", "but what can I doooo?") After all, when she set out in the 1970s it was practically unheard of to have a rock band captained by a lady - there were some female singer-songwriters of course (Joni Mitchell, Melanie etc) but they very rarely kept a permanent band built to last over several years. I'm sure she's met lots of people trying to take advantage of her in various ways...
Holy moly. How have I never seen her without the guitar and the tomboyish outfits, getting all sultry here instead, and totally pulling it off! Her attitude made me fall in love with her in the early 80s. But I never saw her like this. Wow. What a powerhouse.
Besides being a fantastic song... How great is it when we get to really hear the artists performing, and not lip syncing to a studio recording? And thanks for posting this, without recording over the audio with the studio recording (like so many other people do, and they ruin the videos).
