    It looks like setting up perspective for stickers is done with corner pinning. But you have depth information and I assume in doing so, you've solved for the intrinsic matrix of the projector. So for any pixel too can compute a 3D point. Just let the user click anywhere, extend out a few pixels and get 3 points. Pick a point and compute 3D vectors to the other two points. Take the cross product and now you have the surface normal. Let the user scale, rotate and pan the sticker keeping the normal fixed and you have instant easy perspective.
    (I'm working on some 3D LED mapping and most of the math for that and this is basically the same)

    I like these things, but kinda out of my price point. If it were available for like $200/ea then I could get funding to buy 20 - 50 of them for private gallery installation. Definitely would like to see this come back down in hardware costs.

    So cool. Does it remember the "scene" later if you move the projector, come back, and want to use a previously saved "show"? Or do you have to keep the projector in place at all times for it to work?

    Hey LightForm, I was wondering if the software would allow a whole storyboard of effects along a determined duration. Could I scan some objects and go about creating a whole scene of shifting and changing effects for a song, or to tell a story with the scene i have set up?
    Going to purchase this in the near future!

    • @Lightforminc
      @Lightforminc  5 лет назад +3

      Hi there. Yes, you can create a storyboard with a slideshow. This will allow you to scan your scene and apply different effects one after the other in the way of powerpoint slides. You can determine their duration and loop them. You can also display the same, or different effects, in other objects from your scene. Don't hesitate to contact us at hello@lightform.com for any other product questions.

    • @Lightforminc

      Hey there! We created Lightform to streamline the creation process for projected AR and eliminate the frustrations that come with “mapping blind,” therefore LF1 is an integral part of Lightform's "scan, create, and deploy" workflow. The Lightform Creator software heavily relies on the scan data captured by LF1, without LF1 you wouldn't be able to get a projector's-eye-view of your scene, and aligning your content would be very difficult. Many of Creator’s instant effects and selection tools use the scan image and won’t work without LF1. Scan enables types of effects that were previously impossible. Plus, LF1 allows you to wirelessly update your project, control effects, or trigger content from your phone using OSC. We do want to create a more affordable solution to mapping though and will think through if there is some way to create a paired down version of Lightform Creator that doesn’t rely on LF1.

    • @nickbell3546
      @nickbell3546 4 года назад +1

      @@Lightforminc I wonder if maybe he meant using the LF1 module to create a final project for a permanent installation and export that scene permanently as a video, which would then give the flexibility of using the module on another projector?

  • @gorri012
    @gorri012 5 лет назад +1

    I have a question:
    When you finish working with the Lightform Creator Software - the last step is to upload the video to the "device" - which is the LF1 I guess - so when you want to play the already finished and rendered video the LF1 acts like a conventional video/media player - right?
    I´m considering the LF1 for multiple shopping window scenarios - and every shopping window would have to have the LF1 attatched to the projector - and only needed most of the time as a video/media player - right?
    If this is true, this would be a huge waste of the potential of LF1.
    So after the creation in the Lightform Creator Software - when the upload is done to a "device" - it would be much more efficient, if a normal video would be created that could feed the projector through a video/media player.
    Please please please add this feature and don´t waste planet ressources and customer money and years in waiting for the needed LF1s in forcing for every simple just playing projection an extra LF1.

    • @Lightforminc
      @Lightforminc  5 лет назад

      Hi gorrio12. Thanks your comment. Currently, exporting your Lightform Creator project to video file is not possible. The LF1 is designed to sit on top of the projector. Ultimately, content plays off of the LF1 and the camera can be useful for realignment or taking another scan if something moves in the scene. The LF1 serves as your media playback and hosting server. Moreover, you can directly control and interact with your project after it has been published (e.g., pause & play the project, advance through slides, adjust Live Effect's parameters in real-time). In greater detail, the LF1 will compute "Live Effects" in real-time during playback. With this, dynamic motion content is created and adapted to the contents of a given scene automatically. For these reasons and more, having the LF1 play back the project is a core part of the Lightform workflow. Please don't hesitate to contact us at hello@lightform.com if you have any further queries. We'll be happy to help.

    @lightform Any update on Nov. wave shipping/billing? Trying to plan ahead projector wise. Currently have an option on hand that has a throw ratio of 1.38 - 2.24, 3200 lumens and I am aware the FAQ page mentions a lack of support for throw ratios beyond 1.8 but it does not fully explain if the max being exceeded makes it nonfunctional with L1. Could you clarify if it may cause scan/distance focus issues but can function if setup within range vs specs going excess max throw actually disable functionality as a whole with entirety of process? Just curious if we will need to seek new hardware to try it out when it does arrive... Thanks in advance from a excited customer and small group of artists ready to make magic with L1. 8]

    Hi!!
    What's the maximum distance that the camera can analyze from??

    • @Lightforminc
      @Lightforminc  5 лет назад

      Hi Joel,
      The general rule is that if Lightform can see the projected image and the projection is in focus, then it can perform a scan.
      There are some limitations however, here are the specs:
      Lightform has a minimum focus distance of 3' and no maximum focus distance. It works with projector throw ratios between 0.85 - 1.82. Lightform does not support long throw projectors over 1.82 throw ratio. Using a projector over 1.82 throw ratio may yield a low quality scan result. Lightform can scan almost any size scene, from a coffee cup to a large building.
      Check out our How It Works page for more information about scene size and projector requirements: lightform.com/how-it-works

    Love you guys but, Dude, way to long between batches of LF-1 product. You need hire a Production Manager and Logistics Specialist. I have no sympathy for companies that take years to bring a promoted product to market - just to have the Chinese knock it off. You're taking orders for product that might ship 6 months from now! I order an obscure product from Amazon on Saturday, and it shows up at my door Sunday morning. That's the world we live in.
    This video is months overdue and it's just a basic introductory. Idea: Write a script, then spend a full day to produce a 3 part comprehensive series on the app. I mean you only have 6 total videos for a company who has been at this for years. Since you're not producing product or tutorials . . . what is it you do with your days up there? I mean other than burning through VC money . . . and playing hacky sack

      Hi Zebulon B, we know that shipping delays are frustrating. We had an overwhelming response to our initial launch, which sold out in August. We’ve now opened a second production run, and we’re scaling production as fast as we can to have those orders fulfilled as soon as possible. Rest assured, we’ve been hard at work improving upon the usability and reliability of the platform while simultaneously creating a detailed guide on how to use it.
