It's unfortunate that the internet turned out to be the reason so many children should be made aware of the worst kinds of human behavior so early and in such detail for their and their friend's/siblings safety. Without a good bit of the context as to why, they will not be aware enough to know when before its too late. I was hoping my kids could be "kids" a little longer than I let myself. I don't know how to demonize the people on there coming forward, that may also be kids, and perhaps justifying it to themselves as other kids wanting to see content of people their own age. Destroying lives and crowding prisons at the taxpayer expense seems to be where people jump to immediately, but they feel only a temporary vindication for a project concluding with x number of "bad guys" put away then they go back to being ignorant, and failing to have conversations and building plans to protect their children because its awkward. People get addicted to the rush of getting away with illegal stuff regardless of what the crime is, in the same way compulsive gamblers do. Especially people online with poor social skills being the sudden go to person of the internet. When I worked for DCS kids willingly went back to sex trafficking pimps because they were addicted to the attention, gifts, lifestyle, and drugs used to manipulate them into these acts. So if the parent's don't stop it before its too late nothing will change. You can't hire everyone to be an FBI agent for what should be very obvious reasons. Corruption exists in every institution. Furthermore look into the sentencing for people who commit these kinds of crimes. They aren't sent to jail forever, and jail doesn't stop highly motivated criminals that just learned a bunch of new tricks during their temporary visit. We live in a society of abundance in the richest nation in the world and most people are getting desperate financially. People working multiple jobs are being called lazy while being thrust into a new class of working homeless people, and couples that refuse to have kids because they can't afford them. The best fix for all crime is to make the downfall from what you have in society so great, that less people are willing to take these kinds of risks in the first place. This only happens by breaking up monopolies, redistributing wealth, and ending legal bribing in the form of lobbying.

    In middle school (when I was 12-14) I used that app with friends and it was absolutely rife with p*dos asking for pics and meetups (age and gender was viewable, the lowest age was 15-17 which we had ours set at) as soon as you posted ANYTHING. And it was location based too, so the feed you showed up in was in your town/city. I remember during one instance of teenage rebellion I actually considered going through with it, and meeting up with an absolute stranger to spite my parents. Thinking back on that now, I chills me to wonder how many kids just like me *actually* did go through with it. it makes a big difference because when people dont hear the word they dont necessarily attribute it to anything, so saying torture like txxture or child porn like cxxld pxxn people don't see these things as they really are, it doesnt have the same effect that it would otherwise. like someone being shocked as compared to someone just sitting there listening with a blank face, one person is horrified and the other could care less, one of those things is good the other is not, because it allows it to continue as people downplay or even just don't acknowledge the problem. Using those words has a more positive effect than blurring them in my opinion because it shocks people and drives them to want to do something about it, rather than sitting complacent acting like its not a problem, even if they are against it.

    This guy has "8000" images memorized & it gave him "power". I don't know where to go with this statement as it's so revolting to know those pics so intimately (esp if you are opposed to it) and to enjoy the "power" that it gave him! He enjoyed the power he had over pedophiles. I can't imagine anyone I know that could enjoy that kind of power/respect & if he could, that means he doesn't feel so negatively about what they were doing & requesting/sending. And if he was so repulsed by this content, why would it be so difficult to delete all the content? I would think most people would be happy putting the storage device in a blast furnace b/c it was so contaminated.
    I don't think he only had 8000 images either & I didn't believe his 14yr old age limit. All of this really sounds more like a CYA b/c he's scared that law enforcement might be onto him. It was the mod who approached this video creator/channel owner (Jack) & it seems like he is panicking.

    Parler did moderate their content, and they also reported violent content to the FBI. The claim that Parler didn't moderate their content is completely untrue; their removal from AWS was a political move.

    • @pietrayday9915
      @pietrayday9915 Год назад +1

      I couldn't help noticing when I was on Parler in a rather innocuous political commentary channel that there were people who would quietly join the room, wait until the moderators went offline for the night, and then the room would flood with people no legitimate users knew who would spend a few minutes posting racial slurs and the like, and then disappear, and the room would be shut down by the next morning, escalating for a few weeks until Parler itself was shut down as a "Threat to Our Democracy", which seemed less likely to me to be a coincidence, and more likely to be a coordinated false-flag operation that would use the opportunity to take screenshots of their own offensive content and report it to authorities to silence discussion and shut down the platform.
      Whenever I would probe the "invaders" a little with in-jokes and jargon and so on that should be familiar to actual members of the group, it was clear that none of these guys had any idea what we were talking about, and were complete outsiders to our group pretending awkwardly to be "just like us, only more so!" by pretending to be a completely shallow and inaccurate stereotype of the group.
      It's partly the channel moderators' fault for failing to keep the house clean overnight, and partly Parler's fault for leaving their software so easy to exploit, but there definitely seemed to me to be a coordinated effort to take advantage of those weaknesses for political purposes.
      Parler was the victim of an aggressive and coordinated campaign to discredit the company and its software and users base, and wasn't sophisticated enough to prevent it from happening.
      There were other problems besides - I don't remember the exact details now, but I seem to recall that after Parler was shut down, AWS (or someone with access to AWS) promptly doxed the user base to add injury to insult after Parler's representatives made the mistake a couple months before of bragging about Parler's privacy and security....
      I think Parler's owners and staff really meant well and tried hard, but simply weren't cut out for the job they'd assumed for themselves once any hardball tactics were turned on them! Their security, privacy, infrastructure, moderation, and other resources such as budgeting, staffing, and talent pool must surely be dwarfed and amateurish compared to more serious, experienced, well-connected, politically useful, and shady platforms like Twitter, RUclips, or TikTok!

    If someone wants the entire internet to be populated exclusively by large corporations, then by all means attack section 230. If all of us small special-interest web site runners, who have day jobs and can't afford an army of moderators, can go to prison because of something said in a comment section, or on a forum, then only big corporate sites will be left. It’ll be a stream like “mom and daughter” and say “to text my daughter” then when you look up their name you see very disturbing images without even texting them. It’s only gonna get worse if we don’t do something. There’s so much more I wanna say… I’m so disgusted that this app can continue to exist like this and I hope and pray to god every day it will end

I do hope that what he said is true, that he deleted everything, and that he's not repeating the same mistakes somewhere else. Still, what he did is absolutely illegal in the US, and he should suffer the consequences accordingly.
