    We need to talk more about law enforcement not taking sexual abuse and harassment seriously. I was a mandatory reporter and was told that it was hearsay and there was nothing that could be done. Fortunately, I eventually went to the state police and they took care of it, but no thanks to the city PD.

      I can relate. Not on the sexual postings, but I have reported harassment, stalking, threats being made to me and the police do NOTHING! I believe because the person who was doing this was a lesbian, 8 yr. X military, Director of Nurses at my dad's nursing home.... was all not in my favor. She was one of them, they considered her one of them as she often had dealings with them through the nursing home.
      It became a huge Sociopath deal, and she got away with lots of PURE EVIL. She should be in jail today for all she did, instead she came after me for reporting on a known horrible nursing home.
      All I can say is... Jesus Christ, and my God saw EVERYTHING!

      in japan they make the girls act out the rape/attack with these big heavy blue dummies while sorrounded by all male officers, alone often in a very dicey horror show dramaclass, xmas margarita club scene. Even sometimes w like a stage and mic podium etc, like where they'd also call a media press release when breaking a case/requesting info on crimes (VERY rare in JP, according to that Tokyo Press show)

      Half the time the law enforcement agency is getting bribed or is covering up these crimes, sometimes these crimes get way deep and is bigger than just one investigation team or bureau

      To be fair it's hard to prove, for example sending nudes contentally is a thing. Some people don't never do it out of fear of leaked. So it's hard to prove. But that's my theory as to why it's hard. Best thing is tech platforms have to scrub. Google it's hard to find revenge porn

    To me, this wasn't a happy ending. They spent ten years and probably tens of thousands of dollars and got nothing for their pain and suffering. Ok. They got an end to it and they got a victory of sorts. I guess the twins have also become sort of celebrated celebraties for taking this on and getting through it. They helped others too, no doubt and not just the women they got together that were Chris's victims but also paved the way for other to get justice. Perhaps that's the greatest victory they could have hoped for. Well done ladies and all involved in bringing resolution to this case.

    There are no nude pictures of me; but someone thought it to be funny to photoshop my head into one... in 1996! Fortunately I was asked by the page owner where they wanted to place it if I was agreeing, because he thought I had uploaded it, and when I denied it, he removed it. Then I identified his provider, sent them proof of his behaviour, and he lost his account.

    I’m usually a silent listener/watcher but this episode compelled me to comment congratulating the girls and Daena for a well deserved happy ending. I got pretty teary at the end audibly reacting to the roller coaster of the sentencing while at work. You guys are heroes in my eyes
    However this episode has filled me with equal parts of joy, disgust, anger and shame of not only the US judicial system and the US Local police but also as an Australian in Australia, the global Judicial systems as each of them are set up to make it almost impossible for the average person to succeed within the system. If I heard correctly Madison is/was at the time living in Melbourne and even though it was a off handed comment in the story, the Victorian Police should be held in shame as well if Madison tried file the report there.
    I can’t help but feel for every victim in the world that has been worn down and given up on justice because they couldn’t rely on their police to do something or escalate. This story needs to be the poster child to encourage victims to not give up and fight for your justice.
    Well done, and hopefully you now can live the rest of your life in peace and happiness ❤

      @@philbob9638 isn’t cognitive dissonance a wonderful thing, it’s so hilarious, people just believe what they want. These women are not heros at all. FAR DAMN FROM IT. They are sexually deviant to a certain degree, there’s plenty of normal people that don’t take nudes and masterbate on camera anyways, doesn’t matter if they didn’t approve it to the guy to post, there’s real hero women in war and doctors and veterinary medicine and gynos, these women are slightly deviant sexually with the camera and simply reported a crime.

      Just because I’m the bearer of reality and sanity doesn’t make me sympathize with any criminals but calling these women heros?!? They pushed harder to file and report a crime, perseverent and dedicated but heros? Then what’s the word for firefighters and olympians and handicapped people?
      You people throw around hero and large words to just regular females it’s amazing, these are regular women, maybe a tad above average. I’m the last of 5 kids and have 3 older sisters and they are a veterinarian Superintendent and professional dancer and dean of art college, my moms a gyno.
      Sorry, I’m surrounded by high tier exceptional women since birth, that’s my baseline, you need to be exceptional for me to even acknowledge you as a female, so these women heros?? My Vet sis saves animals lives daily. My mother gyno and rape cases??
      These women reported revenge porn, heros??? Holy shit, you GROSSLY DEVALUE real hero women throwing this term around sooo loosely .
      Stop it, women are average humans, just like men and me are average humans, stop putting women on an undeserved and unearned pedastool. They are average at most barely slightly above average .
      Seriously devalue real hero women.

      Full-on breathehold moment there as well but the upholding the sentence after wasting taxes/court time that should have went to victim impact funds. These show retrials due to often the MINUTEST court detail like even might just allow further jailtime or even court cost recovery... Glad the (new?) judge seen clear tro uphold sentence and een add financial damages. He'd get far less w good behaviour (think pocket holding from Prison Break) but the fact he declared bankruptcy to avoid fees should put his father/fiance in the hotseat spotlight.

    As a Finnish person it just shocked me how bad the American justice system is. In Finland it would just never happen that a police didn't care when you report a crime. 95 % of citizens trust The Finnish Police whereas in the US same score is 53 %. And also in Finland you could get compensation money for damages as a victim from the criminal case (so that you don't need separate civil case for that)

      I've never had a doctor take my self diagnosis seriously even when I was right all along, even if it was the same symptoms for a previous diagnosis.Many times even ignoring that I was right.
      However, when I took my son (in his 20s) to the ER with appendicitis and we told them this when we walked in, they took that at face value.

    • @synisterfox
      @synisterfox 11 месяцев назад

      I've found over the years of self-advocating with my doctors, that they are to be treated like a colleague or a contractor, they are not in a position of authority. Use their language and speak to them as a fellow researcher presenting a thesis, cite peer reviewed publications that align with what you are conveying to support what you already know. Leverage their hippocratic oath against them to your advantage (but be prepared for the possibility of being dismissed from their practice) by stating your intent. It is important that you phrase this leverage in a manner that implies that their lack of compliance carries no small risk of avoidable harm. That their compliance allows informed consent and medical oversight to you without them risking their license.
      Speak with conviction, you must be your own advocate when you know something is wrong and the answers aren't apparent and nobody listens. Learn medical terminology related to the things you're trying to figure out. Ex: the Venn diagram of Executive function disorders, Sleep disorders, and schizophrenia. Turns out, there's an overlap on the TAAR1 Receptor for all three and the medications to treat the symptoms of the separate disorders work adversarial to each other. Sometimes attempting to converse with a medical provider at their level, using their language, and even just asking them to at explain why your opinion/hypothesis is incorrect can open the door to more viable answers. We as patients and loved ones of patients can break down barriers if we embrace our inner Karens and arm ourselves with knowledge.
      Between myself and my spouse, our collective medical journeys over the last decade have been wild.
      Sorry for the ramble, but it seems fitting to go off on such a tangent to someone with the username W1ldTangent.
      I genuinely hope your weekend has been well!

The web server would take the ip address of whoever requested the bait photo and use steneography to hide his ip address inside the photo. Once the harrasser posts the photo on 4chan he is also going to post his ip address with the photo. Now we can figure out where that ip address is located and get a major clue.

    It wasn't just one guy. The old boyfriend could have stopped it but he colluded. The family of the perpetrator could have done more. The police could have done more. All of these people made it possible for this sick man to continue what he was doing. Not to mention the vile online communities.
    This is a sick cultural issue. Imagine what it must have felt like to be in the middle of a breakup and to find that no, the relationship wasn't about love and respect and trust even when it was good because at the end, it all boiled down to objectifying a woman's body. With no consideration as to the psychological laceration that comes from sending out even one picture to a forum of rabid misogynists.

    The US Supreme Court ruled the police have no specific obligation to help you. It has made it clear that law enforcement agencies are not required to provide protection to the citizens who are forced to pay the police for their "services" (DeShaney v. Winnebago County Department of Social Services 1989). The USA is just wonderful, isn't it? Pay taxes for grand shit shows like these from cops and judges that nobody ever asked for. Lovely! #ACAB
    On a side note, I was dreading opening this video. Recently, it's been a spate of "bad guys getting away with bad shit done to innocent people/they got away with 'murder'" kind of stories here that it got quite depressing watching this channel, ngl. Kind of happy to hear this one though, even if I still got really triggered at some parts.

    Don't take or send personal pictures to anyone. It doesn't matter how much you trust someone. Even if the person with the phone does not intend to do anything with it, there could be a malware in that phone. Meaning a hacker could copy all of those files and use it however they like.
    Also don't let your webcam connected to your computer. A malware could allow a hacker get access to it. Meaning they can record you without you even knowing it.

      That's blaming the victim. Don't do that. Blame the person that is harrasing. Jack literally says do DONT blame the victim no matter what. Listen to him if you dont listen to me.
      But agree with the general cybersecurity stuff

    • @rumplstiltztinkerstein
      @rumplstiltztinkerstein 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@Kas_StylesI agree. If this happens, it is the fault of the person responsible for sharing those pictures around. They should be arrested for it.
      What I'm saying is, do not store or send nude pictures of yourself anywhere. Not even store it in your own phone. Our phones have barely any security at all.
      10 years dealing with that harassment constantly was a nightmare. Not only the person that shared the pictures, but the people that were sending messages, harassing them, should also be arrested.
      Our data is not safe. Google doesn't care about it. Microsoft doesn't care about it. Facebook doesn't care about it. Apple doesn't care about it.
      Our phones are marketed as powerful and safe devices, but they are not. We need to stop allowing these corporations to have access to so much of our lives. They are only starting to care about our data because of regulations like GDPR. But we need to push further.
      We need to have the options to turn off our microphones through hardware. So that not anyone can just listen to it. Our data needs to be stored in an encrypted format. So that only those with permission would have access to that data.
      There is too much that we need to do to secure people's lives. Imagine if her photos were stored in an encrypted format. Her ex wouldn't have been able to see it, without permission (in this case, the encryption key).
      Security habits like data encryption need to be pushed to the public so that they can protect themselves further.

    • @Kas_Styles
      @Kas_Styles 11 месяцев назад

      @rumplstiltztinkerstein ya I agree that the security of our devices are bad. Especially when people don't bother to update them. A basic thing is to make sure everything is updated and people still don't even do that. Not to mention people over sharing on social media. Osint and social engineering go hand in hand of course.

    This is a horrible story and my heart goes out to the women affected, but I have questions.
    Dana says he knew this guy for almost two decades and had even invited him to his wedding, so why didn't they know the guy's name when it was time to file the civil suit? And why the secrecy around his full name now that he's been convicted?
    I'm not saying the victims did anything wrong, but this story has some obvious plot holes. It doesn't add up.

    • @HrKCA
      @HrKCA 11 месяцев назад +2

      I didn't catch the part where they didn't know his name. The reason for not including the last name in the episode is probably because it's not really relevant to the story.
      I found several news articles about this case by a simple google search, and they name the guy as Chris Buonocore.
