    Liszt’s final Transcendental Etude paints the picture of a snowstorm, beginning peacefully with flurries of snowflakes ❄️, and climaxing violently with enormous gusts of wind and freezing cold 🥶. Tremolos are sustained in both hands, creating a wall of sound that captures the density and force of the winter storm. Even though nature can be beautiful, humanity is ultimately at the mercy of the elements.

    It‘s kind of a shame how the majority of the comment section is just asking for new pieces, instead of appreciating this amazing performance.

    *Composer:* Franz Liszt
    *Composition:* Transcendental Etude No. 12
    Liszt was a composer, pianist, and music teacher. This piece is very beautiful. It has the programmatic title "Chasse-neige" (impetuous wind which raises whirls of snow), and is the 12th and last of the Transcendental Etudes. The étude is a study in tremolos but contains many other difficulties like wide jumps and fast chromatic scales, and it requires a very gentle and soft touch in the beginning. Ferruccio Busoni stated the étude was the "noblest example, perhaps, amongst all music of a poetising nature." He described the work as "a sublime and steady fall of snow which gradually buries landscape and people".

      @dialgos7574 5 лет назад +4

      @@loganm2924 I didn't say it wasn't more difficult. And it is really difficult. But it is far from being as unplayable as feux follets but that's just my opinion. I had not much troubles learning Mazeppa but I didn't even try playing feux follets but maybe it's just because my hands are to little and having small hands isn't as bad when playing mazeppa as when playing feux follets

    • @dhruvsawant9234
      @dhruvsawant9234 5 лет назад +11

      @@dialgos7574 There's this music board called the abrsm. At the highest level, the frsm, the pianist has a choice to play feux follets And/or mazeppa. They also have a choice to play gaspard de la nuit. This level corresponds to the practical stuff learnt in your music's masters degree(Maybe slightly lower based on which university you're talking about).
      So, based on this, most pianists who have actually gone pro should be able to play feux follets and mazeppa. In fact, most of them can. You want unplayable? Check out the études d'execution transcendente d'apres paganini no 4b by liszt.

      Some people get views only because they play popular pieces. I honestly get tired of them. I've probably heard this once before, so it was nice to see it played in this form. I would love to hear less common Hungarian Rhapsodies like number 9 and 4.

      Please don’t compare pianists to each other.
      That is very disrespectful , first of all , Every pianist has a different style and taste ,
      Secondly , the pieces that Rousseau plays are all requested by his audience so you can not say “He’s playing the same peices everyone’s heard” because you people are the ones requesting them.
      It is true, these pianists deserve more attention, they are amazing.!

    It is a faithful, rigorous interpretation that borders on perfection and that also manages to transmit to the listener that stormy and magical atmosphere of snow ...
    It is also a brutal, tremendous and fabulous coordination job.
    Congratulations from Chile ... from the land of the great Claudio Arrau, who seemed to revive happily from his grave upon hearing this interpretation ... almost as he also sealed it to the brink of perfection.
