Hello, I'm Rousseau, I make piano covers of classical and pop songs with a reactive visualizer. New videos every Monday!

Chopin's 1st Ballade. One of the most beautiful and substantial works in the entire solo piano repertoire, and the piece of his most dearest to me. Although a bit of craziness would have been fun (and... is coming...), hitting 1M subscribers after only starting my channel 10 months ago is still so hard to believe, and the piece closest to my heart - dedicated to you as a token of gratitude - was only piece I felt fit to celebrate the 1M milestone. Thank you for 1M ♥

This must be my favorite piece of all time. The fact that Chopin composed this masterpiece at 21 years old is absolutely unbelievable. The part at 7:48 must be the most beautiful and epic part I've heard on piano, very complex and with plenty of notes which match perfectly with each other. Truly a magnificent piece, congrats to Rousseau for playing it so well. I hope I'll be able to do the same in a couple of years.
You certainly will! I've been working on this piece for the last 3 months, (with a minor pause as my electric piano was fried in a storm 2 weeks ago), and its not an easy piece by any means however, as you progress it gradually becomes easier! the notes kind of just make sense when you really get into it! It's like he summed his entire life into this piece. His Anger, his frustration, his joy, and what little happiness he could find and the validation he sought for not being able t fight for his home country. @@duongnguyenngoc9160 The same way you would cringe at someone who would critic classical music through a pop musical framework (and rightfully so), you should also cringe at people criticising pop and rap music through a classical musical framework. It's just that different criterias are required for rap music to be good, so you can't OBJECTIVELY say that there cannot be any rap and pop masterpieces, because the criterias required for these songs to be good are simply different, and you shouldn't apply your classical framework to evaluate any pop or rap songs, the same way you wouldn't criticize classical music for not having any lyrics or something along those lines... There are rap songs that are masterpieces, inside of the rap "sphere", the same way there are classical masterpieces inside of the classical "sphere", but you can't evaluate one genre based on the "sphere" of another, music just doesn't work that way.

Chopin's music just hits differently, in the sense of the way it is able to emulate emotions and use them to tell a story, not a one that is made of words, but of pure emotions. Rousseau has become my favorite pianist because he is a storyteller that uses music.
Can't imagine that Chopin's song were use to play with Arima Kousie, and this was the last piano music that Arima Kousie use to perform and before Arima Kousie finish his performance, Kaori appeared with her violin and then plays with Arima before she pass away.
what a sad scene it was, I was hoping that it could be a happy ending but it's not, so it's true that when a pianist success little by little and after that, they will eventually lose something or someone that is precious to there life.
I'm a pianist and I never experience like this before but I've been going through a lot of sadness and pain just to play the piano. I'm a 15 years old pianist and I will be 16 soon.
Such a lonely ballade, filled with joy and sorrow, love and hatred, happiness and despair. Chopin composed this early in his career, what the hell do you have to go through to create something of this magnitude? Perhaps he had depression, he was sickly throughout his life, and was paraded around Europe as a prodigy, hard with his shyness. There are things we’ll never know about this man, all we have is his music and we cry with him. He was a poet of the keys, and his works live on as reflecting humanity in its most vulnerable. We are just sacks of love and sorrow, reverie and pain. We were born to survive, not to live, and he portrays that feeling of pitiful anger, loneliness, and longing in this ballade. It’s his Magnus Opus, it’s Chopin composed in keys.
his sign was fishes. of course he was depressed. he got born that way, he died that way. along the road, for a fish (pisces 😆) born there is much pain. with a little bit if luck one gets a talent. that offers some escape at times. but the majority of time is pain and dispair

Im not a pianist, not a virtuoso... just a headbanger, a Brazilian heavy metal vocalist... and I love classical music and this is sooooooooo perfect, touching! thanx so much for this beautiful piece of work!
the part from 3:48 is so beautiful. it's calmingly positive but sad at the same time
2:19 is the best thing I’ve ever heard and I’m sure that only Chopin could have composed it.
Wdym?
It’s the best motif I’ve heard from Chopin, and my most favorite one
So true! This is my favorite part of the ballade
When I first heard it I though I was listening to some modern composition at that point. It sounds ahead of its time.
Oh yeah that is a really Beautiful part one of my favorite parts~ ^^
4:48 This is definitely my favorite part of the piece. The beauty and feelings that Chopin's music transmits is incredible. I love him.
Its my favorite part too. Everyone else seems to favor the speed at around the 7 min mark but i just love this part the most
Same! I was looking for someone to say this.
Yep my fave too
i agree
My favorite too
Im learning piano and I’m going to start grade 5 soon. You have always been an inspiration of mine and I thank you.
Am I the only one who sees the hidden B letters while Rousseau plays the piece? Especially at 2:28
It's incredible.
The part 7:48 - 8:24 gives me goosebumps everytime...
What a marvelous final moment in the piece, i also get chills everytime. Especiallt after seing Your Lie In April. Pure genius and emotions running wild
Yesss
Check out kassias one, it has better emotions

@@user-tq8cp3qs1r yeah her ballade no 1 is probably my favourite
Hey Rousseau, I watched every of your classical pieces so many times cause it gives me chills.
I'm 19 years old and I played piano for 8 straight years till I stopped at the age of 13 because I just didnt have the motivation to do so and never really practised.
I did win contests playing as a duo with my best mate playing cello so it was basicly a hobby, but not really something I truly truly loved.
(Outside of the contest phase in my life I only practised like 15 minutes a day..)
Now, 5 years later YOU singlehandingly brought back my passion for piano and I'm playing more than ever.
My favourite piece is Un Sospiro (no, I can't play it yet), which is above my level, but I finished Arabesque now and I'm hoping to be able to play Claire de Lune in a few months (even though the minute 2:00 part looks a lot harder..)
Thank you so much for providing the sheet music for FREE and the videos are helping me so much in terms of finger movement and double checking the notes I read from the sheet.
You deserve every single sub, I hope you're soon going to be able to make a living from youtube, if not already.
Greetings from Germany!!

This is literally my favorite piece from Chopin, thank you for blessing us with this masterpiece of a video, once again.
i'm such a big fan of yours, knowing that you like classical music warms my heart
i see you are a *man* of culture as well
Veo que eres una mujer de cultura =)
Camila Cuevas have you heard Ballade No. 4? So freaking hard, but so beautiful 😍
This is figuratively my favorite piece from Chopin.
Nothing is more sorrowful, heartbroken and lonely than Chopin's first Ballade. Beautiful interpretation.
thats fact!
Liebestraum no. 3? Is certainly more romantic and maybe less broken, although the final is also sorrowful, even so I like the love dream
@@LordCorvusfor me ballade no 1 leaves you with a melancholic feeling and a feeling of being alone while liebestraum leaves you a hopeful feeling

*Chopin - Sonata No.2 in Bb minor:Funeral march had left the chat*
This remembers me the movie "The Pianist", where Splitzman fights for his life playing this piece to the german soldier. Such an epic moment!
Will I have any trouble learning this. Ive just started this piece. For more context: Previously hard pieces I have learned are: Rondo Alla Turca and Chopin Nocturne in C sharp minor
sorry to break it to u but those 2 are not hard pieces, this piece took me around 8 months and i have played a lot of stuff, it is like much harder than nocturne and mozarts rondo even put together, but hey i dont wanna say u cant do it, give it ur best i believe in u (didnt try to be mean just gave a heads up because compared to those 2 that you called hard are nothing compared to ballade no 4 and no 1)
