No way. They designed a screw cover holder into the base of the stand? Incredible. I just removed it and put it back in the little protective bag the controller came in, inside the box, to “save it just in case”. Had no idea you could put it into the base itself. That’s brilliant, Sony. 2:34
What would REALLY be brilliant is a stand that doesn't need a screw in the first place. That it needs such a convoluted stand suggests this console was not designed with any kind of practicality in mind.

Just a heads up on the vertical position. It has become known that the liquid coolant can eventually come free over the cpu if left in the vertical position over time. It seems the horizontal position is the safest way.
You have no idea how much this helped. I just got a PS5 as a gift so there wasn't any paperwork with it. My entertainment center is a bit cramped so I have items on their side. I couldn't figure out how to install the disc mount, nor could I find anything online. Your a lifesaver. Thanks!!

@@hallhv01 you have to rotate those hooks back in the initial position so the middle part protrudes up. The same thing happened to me when I wanted to change the ps from a vertical to a horizontal position and i forgot to rotate the hooks.

The stand is not that sturdy in horizontal position. You pressing toward the middle (over the stand) only shows a little wobble. But press the corner over the optical drive side. It'll easily tip all the way to the surface it's on. Also, happen to bump it while plugging in a USB or whatever... the stand will simply fall off and end up somewhere else under the curved bottom of the PS5. It was clearly designed for the Vertical position; Horizontal was an afterthought. Unfortunately, many people (such as myself) don't have a spot to stand it vertically.
Totally agree, it’s actually more unsturdy than it is sturdy. Quite annoying when fidgeting around with especially when you have clean the fans regularly. So when you say sturdy in the video, that’s really not true at all, as a matter of fact.

Honestly. This is saving my ps5, 3 years later and my system shuts off on its own after about 45 min of play. Took it apart, dusted, swapped the Av cable and put it horizontal . Testing it currently, wish me luck because it's $230 to send to Sony! 😅

Great video, I finally learned how to use the stand after owning my PS5for 2 years 😭. I always thought the wobble wasn’t suppose to do that when I laid it flat and I was right.

To put it horizontal you do not want the hooks to line up with the squares. It doesn’t balance properly. It should be moved 2” to the right of that position when you are facing the front of the ps5
Turns out it was false, and it only happened to certain devices that already had some minor flaws in them. If your device is good then there should be no issue. I am back to the vertical position, which I like more. My device is doing good.
Thanks! After learning that having it vertical can damage it I put mine horizontal again...but something didn't look right... Turns out I was putting the stand on completely the wrong side, this saved raking the manual out again.

Was scared to death just now attempting this but I got both of them off and both of them back on no problems at all , I just wanted to be prepared to know how to take them off in the future for when dust does accumulate also I see a lot of people commenting about the scratches that occur, when you take them off I certainly scratched one side, I'm willing to bet Sony did that on purpose to indicate if that panel has ever been removed or not. . They should have added the screw for horizontal attachment also. Anytime I bump or plug anything in to the console it falls off the base.
