    Though Shikantaza has roots in Chan Buddhism, is the intuitiveness of the practice something most people were doing before modern technology? If a old man sat on a quite lake in County Mayo, Ireland, or an old woman sat under a mango tree in the Caribbean, just sitting, listening, and letting things float by like a cloud, are they practicing Shikantaza?

    How long should one sit in meditation ? Also is it just thoughts we should be aware of? What about body sensations? Thank you

      Dear one, starting meditation can be done with a very short time and then increase time. Each school and teacher is different. Meditation time. vary from 20 min to 2 hours. The goal of meditation is to be in the moment - present now. Mental and physical awareness is appropriate.
