1968 Grandma's Boy were 17-18 years old. One evening after a music rehearsal at school, we found ourselves in the local train tunnel (kind of like this) in Winnetka IL and sang the tag "Roll On, You River, Roll On", which was sung by the international Champion Quartet, the 4 Statesmen, in 1967. The cops came by and one said "Hey, what are you doing down there? "... We shouted back, "Singing!"....the cop said, "Ok" and left us alone. Later that summer of '68, we went to see the International Convention in Cincinnati OH. 11 years later, Grandma's Boys won the Gold Medal at the 1979 International Contest in Minneapolis. Who knows, may it will take this quartet less than 11 years. Jay Giallombardo, Baritone Grandma's Boys, 1979 Champs!
heck yeah! sounded great fellas! Just as a quick note, I think the tenor part is written so it resolves F-G on the last two chords rather than F#-G. the second to last chord is written as an Abmin6 chord rather than a Amin7. I honestly like the sound of your version, but I thought I'd point it out ;) Keep it up my dudes!
We were wondering if anyone would point that out! Ben (singing baritone here) noticed that afterwards but I figured it was definitely worth posting anyway. Good ears though!
It's one thing to see just some more talented vocalists pop up on my RUclips feed, but it's a whole 'nother thing to see some names and faces I recognize! Fantastic work fellas! Cheers from Murfreesboro!
Gotta give credit to the Bari for PERFECTLY tuning the 5th to make the Eb form the Bass rattle the staircase
Are you just in a stairwell? Because the reverb is FANTASTIC
Yep! It’s a concrete stairwell connected to a parking garage

Wow! Never heard it in e flat, now that’s all I want to hear it in
We certainly liked it a lot!
I love it too! Certainly couldn’t do it myself as a tenor with the low note being E flat, but with a good bass singer you could make it happen
@@lordmustard8882 yeah. I was surprised I could even do it lol, I'm a bass-baritone, he projected the Eb2 with relative ease
great acoustics in there holy
Nice ring on those crunchy chords!
This deserves more recognition
Wow crazy man, awesome y'all killed it, that projection on the low notes and high notes with good tone

Tenor sang a wrong note on the penultimate note, should be 2 not b3, but good job!
Not perfectly tuned in every note. Sounds ok
I need better friends cause none of my friends like to sing like this. The few that do aren’t the greatest at it, but some are still.
Nice bass part. Imma get my boys to do it with me so y’all can hear a true bass
nah bro this guy has such a good Eb, you can't knock it
@@manavsharma869 oh for sure. Mad respect for the bass
a little out of tune on the last chord and 0:14, but great work; my perfect pitch cant help it sorry !!!
