    Use heat when you remove the IHS, you have to deal with the silicon dies than you can recover the solder which contains 10 to 20% indium, bit only the soldered IHS`s non soldered is only thermal paste

    Hi Pete, new subscriber. Would electrolysis work to remove gold fingers from ram stick trims..
    I've seen plenty times AP being used. While listening to you tho I just had the thought.

      Yes it will but its fiddly , i actually have a much better way than using AP . im just waiting until i have enough for a video then ill show yas . so stay tuned because youre going to love it.. and hey thanks for subscribing , i really appreciate it

    Pete, if you gave them a quick boil in HCL first would that get rid of enough Tin, so it wasn’t an issue with the gold deplating ?

    Did u tried to buy HNO3 in farm supply some of them have it on a cheap but it is only 40-53% strong and minimum amount is 20l on the +side it is 2,5-3dollar/l

      yeah theyre a good source of gold , the coating is really thick . i have another collection of them now , i will make another video of them soon

      i dont know dorry , im australian . i suggest you look in your local hardware store for drain cleaner , some contain sodium hydroxide and some contain sulfuric acid . otherwise you could do a search for chemical suppliers near you

      once it all settles, filter it and put the sediment into aqua regia

    another good video, why don't you filter the sulfuric acid and reuse it multiple times? instead of loosing it in the water

      I do sometimes. Ive even made a video showing me recycling it.
      But in this case I needed to put it down the drain because our bath doesn't drain and ive been putting drain cleaner in all sinks and drains

    That solder is actually pure indium worth more than silver by weight

      yes , simply filter the solution after youve added it to water . the black sediment at the bottom is gold
