This stuff is great! I've been taking it on and off for a year and a half and I definitely feel more vibrant when I do take it! I constantly challenge my body because I do cross fit and play soccer 6 days a week. I highly recommend it for athletes!!!
The thing that I've been wondering is, even though I know the prepared form of the herb is better, Mr. Ho only ate the plant itself while he was foraging for a year. So why did he get those beneficial effects from just the raw herb, vs just a cleansing effect?
quality is paramount here. also there are different forms of this herb and most companies do not understand this. you ONLY want to consume the PREPARED/CURED version of this herb, otherwise, yes, you will likely have all of these side effects. the unprepared form is slightly toxic and NOT a tonic herb. check the blog on hyperion herbs to learn more about this issue. i wrote some great articles there about this.
other stories/translations indicate that he took the plant to a village shaman/herbalist who then "prepared" the herb for him. if you really have doubts and want to know for yourself, buy the raw herb and take it for awhile, notice what happens. then take the prepared and see if you notice a difference.
I'm just having that "natural high" smoothie right now. I've varied it a little, but I've added raw cacao, mucuna extract and ho shou wu extract in with some cherries and banana, in a decotion of ginseng and rhodiola. (Also put in whole stevia, mesquite, and pine pollen)
the best thing would be regular session w a local acupuncturist to balance the organs. otherwise. he shou wu has been helpful for some women. maca as well.
I will definitely check out Ho Shou Wu :) Thanks for the vid. If I may ask you a more specific question than recently: I've started taking Mucuna a couple of days ago, and it's been working really well for me. I want to also try out many other things, with the next 2 items on my list being Ritalin and Piracetam. Those being synthetic substances, I wonder what you would say about them? (cont'd)
the lead thing is a california state law for all products coming from china as far as i know. all of my products are tested to be free of these kinds of contaminants. lastly i have plenty of he shou wu caps in stock right now
Ritalin is certainly something that I would want to regularly take breaks from to counteract habituation, as I would do with most of these substances. When you say you've been treating yourself naturally, do you mean you've been taking naturally available psychoactive products? I don't understand how your arguments against Ritalin don't equally apply to anything that's naturally available. I think the fact that something is naturally available is a good indicator that it will likely make(cont'd)
I made a query to NOW concerning their brand this is the answer they gave: "Raw simply dried. Uncured. We are not familiar with the stem since its the root that is traditionally used."
Hi, I wanted to ask how I would prepare this and how often I would drink this? I am going to buy it in dry herb form, a pound of it but I have no idea how to use it. Do I make it like a tea? How much of it do I put in to brew? How often do I take it? Thank you!
i bought some of the brown dried chunks from china town. how much do I need to boil and how long and how much to take daily? Is it better to buy the liquid or just the chunks or I have seen the tablet forms/?. thanks for you gr8t videos.
to be totally honest, i have no idea. all i can find is what is on the internet and it does not indicate that its prepared or that it is a concentrated extract.
(cont) a good source of whatever good stuff is in it, more so than most synthetic substances. But I still fail to see any reason to think that naturally available substances are ALWAYS the best thing to go with, and I'm still suspicious that this all-"natural" approach might just be an expression of the naturalistic fallacy, a very common cognitive bias. Thanks for your comment in any case, and if can further clarify and perhaps disprove my suspicion I would appreciate it :)
I also have been taking this brand for years (4 years). I cannot say that it has any appreciable difference since I am eating raw foods and talking other supplements. This RED Fo-Ti is something I am not familiar with, although I have read about it elsewhere, and I just ordered 16oz from hyperion herbs to try.
I've been looking into he shou wu and found it can have serious side effects. I'm so upset because I was looking forward to buying some. Some side effects are liver disfunction, dark urine, weakness, tiredness, stomach upset, etc.... Is there a certain brand that is better than others or is it that some people are just sensitive to this chinese herb? Thanks!
Ok, just ordered it. I guess I should have asked if it's ok to take this with other supplements such as msm powder, zinc (may not need with he shou wu), maca, etc.. Let me know what you think. Also, do know anything about melasma and a natural cure by chance? Nobody really knows how to get rid of it but I am hopeful that someone has answers. Thanks for your help!!
Brandon, I know this is somewhat counterintuituve for you, but being from the UK, I'm looking to supplement with Ho Shou Wu and the best value I have found is from a brand called 'NOW'. If you could be so kind as to tell me whether this is a safe, 'PREPARED/CURED version of this herb'? I would really appreciate if you could take a moment to check this for me.and it would be testament to the fact that you are dedicated to this practice not solely for the benefit of Hyperion. Appreciated.
On my end, there is no page or link below. I want to buy this, but I want to know where and how to buy the high quality one. Please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. Thx for this video!
Hi Brandon, I bought from you about a month ago- I received the capsules, however I noticed that some of the capsules had some tiny brown dot-stains on them - was wondering what are those exactly? Some of them even felt slightly sticky when holding on with the fingers - while others were pretty clear/clean without any stickyness.
Hi Brandon, I was going to buy the Dragon Herbs Ho Shou Wu{Capsules} after seeing that the one from your website has been out of stock, I came across a review on amazon of some one saying that on the back of the label on the Dragon Herbs Ho Shou Wu says that it may contain lead. I was wondering if this is not the case with the one from your website{Capsules as well}?
I. Did a little research on that and they say it can cause hepatitis also . What do you think of that ? I really wanna try it but I don't wanna get sick either :(
these kinds of synthetic things can me useful if you have major hole to climb out of, but otherwise its not really a sound approach. the biggest question is not what is better or worse, but WHY. why are there so many holes to be plugged, whats causing the inherent imbalances, etc. with out addressing those questions one can easily be set up into an endless spiral of pill jumping while never addressing the root cause. also the whole mechanical reductionist worldview of the body should be examined
(cont) Also, I've been taking Fluoxetine and then Citalopram to upregulate serotonin since December; I haven't noticed any side effects, and my anxiety issues have been all but gone since week 6 or 7 of taking Fluoxetine. I know that there are naturally available substances you can also use to increase serotonin levels, and I'm planning to research how they compare to synthetic SSRIs. Do you have any particular pointers on this maybe? Thanks :)
I have the ho shou wu herb itself, not in powder. Got it in China. My question is how do I prepare it? Do I get a couple of the "chips" put it in water and boil?? I have no idea how to do it and how much to intake.
hi i got ho sho wu from "shaman shaq" it has ( polygonum mutiflorum ), astragalus root, rhodiola crenulata, shiajit ( humid elements). is this ok? or do you recommend is better brand? thx brandon
Hi there Brandon, how is it going? I got 3 gray hairs counted and Ive been taking ho shou wu for a year now, from dragon herbs and from Hyperion. Taking the 6 pills recommended by dragon herbs and one spoon of Hyperion in the morning with my shake. What am I doing wrong? Any direction on when, how and with should I take ho shou wu? Thanks Kind regards
yes, they can and they have... there are numerous documented cases of this, as well as scientific studies which have shown this can occur when vitamin and mineral deficiencies are corrected. Ho Shou Wu has historically been known as an herb which can restore grey or white hair back to it's earlier color in some individuals and is the main component in a number of products currently on the market being sold for that very purpose.
cue up to 2:20 and listen again. He doesn't say it does work to restore grey hair back to color and then that it doesn't. What he clearly says is that it doesn't work 100% of the time for all people because of various factors which include genetics, lifestyle, vitamin and mineral deficiency, stress levels, etc. even though scientific studies and historical evidence have proven that it does have the ability to do this. Everyone's physiology is different. When it comes to any kind of supplementation,THAT is the first thing one needs to understand. Not everyone gets the same results from every supplement. One person can take vitamin A and find their eyesight improves, while another takes additional vitamin A and they notice nothing. The problem isn't with the vitamin A, obviously. The difference is in how one persons body assimilates and utilizes the vitamin A, while another persons body assimilates and utilizes it differently. There are no guarantees with nutritional healing products. One can only recommend or try those products that have produced results for others and that are known to support certain functions and provide certain benefits. It is up to the individual to determine if they are seeing results in their own body, if they need to take more or less of the product, and to determine if they're taken the product for a long enough period of time to say they've really given it enough time to really get the results they're looking for or not. One person may only need 1/4 tsp a day for a week of some substance to notice results, while another person may need to take that same item at a level of 2 tsp a day for a month to see the same results. This is the reality of natural healing products, and nutritional products. There is no guarantee, and there is no one amount or timeframe that works for everyone, every time. Beyond that, this individual is only conveying information that has been known, shared, and documented about this herb for over a thousand years. You can find this same information from thousands of sources if you would merely do a Google search on it (search for either Fo Ti or Ho Shou Wu). What he is relaying is common knowledge amongst those who study, prescribe, and take herbs or are involved with Traditional Chinese Medicine... individuals such as myself. So, your guess that he is trying to "get rich" off of sharing this information with others at no charge on RUclips is completely without foundation and totally baseless. It only shows your total lack of understanding of what he clearly explained and which I have further expounded upon for your benefit above. Hopefully this will provide you with the awareness you previously were lacking and allow you to understand why no nutritional product is ever guaranteed to work for every person, in the same way, every time. Nor is every product recommended for every person in every case, without this aspect of individual physiology being taken into consideration.

thanks for the great info as always! is there a particular herb you recommend for balancing female hormones, particularly for irregular cycles?
