My great, great, great grandfather Hugh Wilson died in that mine in an explosion in 1878. Very interesting to take a "tour" of it. Thanks for bringing it to life.

Over 50 years ago i climbed to the bottom. There is a shaft that goes straight in, went in a couple hundred feet and got spooked and GOT THE HELL OUT OF THERE.

That shaft on the side of the stripping tricked me as a kid. Hopped off the 3 wheeler and ran up that big hill just to see it didn't go anywhere lol.

I'd love to get there with my tree climbing gear as long as there's a good solid Branch to the tire around I can get down in there with my bright flashlight and get some really good footage.

Lots of thick trees! That would be the best footage. Getting down is easy....getting back out though..

Very informative video, I enjoyed it. Yr videos show yr respect for the hard working miners working in terrible conditions. Stairway to Hell is an appropriate title. Actually if yr a music lover as myself the duo Heart did a terrific cover of Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Ctr, worth checking out. Keep up the good work

40:23 I can relate with your confusion about the structure. I’ve seen a couple similar
concrete/cement tunnels at coal mining related building foundations where steam engines were once located.

Enjoyed your video. I am researching my family history and have a relative that died in 1899 near Potts colliery, just past a stable. Would you happen to have seen anything or know the possible location of a stable? From what I have read, it was just north of the colliery and there was a small ravine nearby, at least there was 122 yrs ago. I'd love to talk to anyone familiar with that area. This relative was a Civil War veteran who participated in many battles, so I would like to write up a nice, brief biography with photos.

Took the time to write a comment then somehow it disappears never to be seen again. I've heard other people talk about this happening but never had it happen to me personally ever until now. My comment is officially logged in the comments total count above yet it in is no longer here...strange....other comments seem to be missing also. Anyways loved the explore ! 👍👍

@Emmanuel GoldsteinGood point....but no actually strangely enough the comment was very positive and informative regarding climbing equipment , then ending with a compliment to Chris about the video he made and how awesome it was. It's all good, doesn't really matter 👍👍
