I was at Turley Barracks with the 377th HET Transportation Company, Dragon Wagons, 2/68 and moved across the parade field to the 598th Transportation Company left 11/70 . I was in a 2 man room at the 377th on the 3rd floor. Late at night when it was quiet you could hear boots walking down the hall and turning to go to the other side of the building where the 595 HET was, never saw the wearer of the boots but he would pass by the door open or closed. I loved Turley and Germany. I got back to the world 11/12/70 and was back in Germany 1/15/71 as a civilian. My old CO at the 598th let me crash in my old bed on the 3rd floor for 10 days before I could find an apartment above the A bar downtown Mannheim. I worked at BFV with a couple of other ex GI's. We had a blast, every night was like Saturday!
Brings back nice memories, carefree days. I was in Munich 1990-1992. Seeing everything closed and abandoned is sad though. Chapters in my life that were so formative which have definitely passed on.
great video...I attended Munich campus 90-92, Augsburg campus 92, was in Ktown 92-93, Schwaebisch Gmuend 93-95 and someone in between all that went to go visit friends and party at UMUC Mannheim after the campus moved for the 3rd and final time. MEMORIES!
Oh wow, just stumbled upon this. I recognize a lot of friends from that time period. Those were some damn good days.....
